This morning?

Off work today and watching and it just seems tense and awkward and not right between Holly & Philip Schofield

Rubbish TV

Just close ITV completely

BeverForget · 15/05/2023 02:26

It is like watching Jimmy Savile and everyone that tacitly supported him.

Shhhquirrel · 15/05/2023 03:49

LightlySearedontheRealityGrill · 12/05/2023 19:58

I hope he goes, that shagging the young boy that worked there was distasteful. The support for the pedo brother just adds to quite an ugly picture.

distasteful

That's putting it mildly, it was morally repugnant.

PhyllisFogg · 15/05/2023 08:10

I prefer Radio 4 at all times @Whyisegerythingseeminglygettingworse

Much more interesting.

I've never ever watched day time telly and those two people aren't even on my radar.

HappiDaze · 15/05/2023 08:15

I can't stand him

But I might watch a bit today just to see any tension between them

MySugarBabyLove · 15/05/2023 08:25

Well, there’s a lot of hypocrisy on these threads. Can’t stand him, this morning need to get rid of him, and yet people are planning to watch it to see what it’s all about?

It’entirely possible that this is all an arrangement between ITV and the tabloids to generate higher viewing figures for TM, after all, something slightly controversial happens every so often and oh look, the figures jump as people tune in to see what the fuss is all about.

TM and the tabloids are having a field day, and posters are just lapping up the BS. For people who don’t like TM because of its content and format, posters are doing a remarkable job of emulating it by getting so caught up in what at this stage is nothing more than speculation.

At the risk of sounding like a 'successful people podcast' switch it off! Happy successful people don't watch daytime TV Wink

well ...... they say they don't.

what would you rather be discussing? .... Pluto ? (oops I mean Plato)

MySugarBabyLove · 15/05/2023 08:40

The way Mumsnet is ‘better’ is that it’s interactive. There’s something incredibly passive and lowering about daytime tv. pmsl. The reality is that the majority of mn’ers are daily mail readers who enjoy all this kind of shite.

I mean, the way in which people post “apologies for the dm link” and then share the link as if they just happened upon it doesn’t actually fool anyone. Nobody just happens to read a daily mail link. In order to read daily mail links you have to be a daily mail reader. In order to know that the atmosphere on this morning is uncomfortable you have to be a viewer.

We all have our vices, For some people it’s love island, the daily mail and this morning, for others it’s mn. Just own them.

Weren't we supposed to think he was wonderful because he was so brave coming out as gay-even though he'd been having an affair for years? And who cares about his wife and children.

Mindgoneblankagain · 15/05/2023 09:35

Did you all hate Philip Schofield before he came out as gay or is that just a massive coincidence?

CornishGem1975 · 15/05/2023 09:36

Nothing to do with him being gay @Mindgoneblankagain 🙄

Inkanta · 15/05/2023 09:39

Expect he will fight to keep his job and I imagine he's good at guilting people for treating him badly. Poor Holly - how does she get out of that.

I've disliked him since I saw him conduct a really awful interview with one of the first victims of Jimmy Savile to speak out. Think that was quite a long time before he came out.

HTH.

MedievalMadness · 15/05/2023 09:51

Somewhat off topic but some PPs snobbery around daytime tv is grim. I have friends who’s jobs aren’t standard hours - tutors, medics etc. Some friends have various health conditions or getting over surgery. Some just happen to like this type of programme. You like what you like.

I WFH, it's just on in the background keeping me company, background noise as anything else needs attention!

SundaeLove · 15/05/2023 10:08

Well you’d never know anything was up!

MySugarBabyLove · 15/05/2023 10:16

That’s because it’s not.

This was clearly a story invented by the tabloids and jumped on by the PS haters.

Feudwhatfeud · 15/05/2023 10:20

I'm watching as I vaguely know someone on there today. They have changed their interaction with ps, it's not obvious but definitely picked up if you watch closely. The person has children so I did wonder their views on it

Totally agree. It's so weird to read these posts from people who actually seem to be seething that something they don't like is on. Even one person above who seems to feel that ITV should be shut down because... she doesn't like it, I guess 🤔

Lots of programmes aren't my bag. I solve this by not watching them. I've never felt the need to rage and rant about "drivel" (seems to be the buzzword for these people).

So very weird.

Oh god I've hated him since the mid 80s when he used to present NZ kids tv (am UK based but spent a lot of time in NZ in the 80s) so nothing to do with him being gay and everything to do with him being an insufferable twat 🤷‍♀️

Lifeomars · 15/05/2023 10:40

Never usually watch it, (prefer to have music on ) but morbid curiosity has drawn me in. As I am not a regular viewer I can't comment if they are any different, guess I was expecting a fight or insult hurling!

No I've not liked him since he was a cunt to Fern Britton and let's face it, he's not changed himself publicly since "coming out". He's still with his family and wearing his wedding ring but just continuing to shag rent boys on the side, nothings changed there.
Plus the fact he didn't disclose his brother was a child abuser but kept it quiet until he had no choice.

I think it depends on which programme it is.

I think this morning is utter shite but I get past that by not bothering to watch it. Same with the tabloids and various other daytime tv programmes.

But I think that programmes like Love Island for instance are damaging and I think we shouldn’t have a place for them in our society and I absolutely do judge people who watch them even though I don’t.
