Harry forced to watch his dads affair partner in the place his mum should have been

I feel so sorry for him. It would eat me up if I had to watch Camilla smiling and waving in the spotlight. She tormented his mother and wife. She (and his dad of course) spoiled his childhood.

Well you don’t have to believe me but it’s true. It’s on the telly here so we’re all half watching it and having a chit chat and I’m on here as well. If I was at home I’d be doing stuff with my family. I’d probably watch a bit of it but not hours of church service so I’m a bit bored. But if you want to imagine I’m sat at home crying into my Diana mug with the curtains closed then crack on. It’s not like you know me IRL so I’m not fussed either way.

You do realise the irony of this post don't you? 😏

I totally agree, and I think Meghan is seriously regretting getting mixed up in all this. I don't blame her for nor attending today, or for swerving all the press coverage over the book.

Although she’s probably not regretting marrying Harry as he’s given her a worldwide platform she’d never have had she must be counting the days and ways she can extricate herself from him. That kiss snub was telling. As the saying goes ‘she’s just not that in to you’.

Maireas · 06/05/2023 12:55

There was a woman on my local news the other day, clutching a picture of Diana and weeping. Just so strange.

BibbleandSqwauk · 06/05/2023 12:55

If you're not a fan of church services a d church music generally, maybe you don't recognise it as "uplifting" because it's not conventionally "happy" but very grand. It's stylistic. It is (if you care about this kind of thing) a momentous and historic occasion. There's a pop concert later, I'm sure they'll all be smiling then if that's what you need to sleep.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 06/05/2023 12:57

Charles did that, OP. Not Camilla. Why do some posters persist in blaming the OW? It's ludicrous.

He made the vows.

I think some posters are projecting their own failed/failing relationships.

Daleksatemyshed · 06/05/2023 12:58

Well if Diana was such a saint she wouldn't have had so many public affairs with so many married men. If she'd lived I think her public image would be rather different by now. Charles always loved Camilla, I'm glad he's happy at last

MarvelMrs · 06/05/2023 12:58

You know that Harry is able to make his own decisions and didn’t have to attend the coronation. He chose to.

Maireas · 06/05/2023 13:00

Dear lord, OP - don't look at the BBC picture now - Anne's hat plume is obscuring Harry's face! An evil plot.

I agree it's a matter of when. She has form for using people and discarding them when she's got what she wants. Harry won't be any different.

If Charles wasn’t trying to be Camilla’s tampon, they would probably still be together and she would never have been in a tunnel with Dodi.

I cannot believe that people really think this. They were fundamentally unsuited. They should never have married, she was unhappy, he was unhappy.

There is NO WAY they would still have been married in 2023.

LostFrog · 06/05/2023 13:03

Off topic but I wonder if Diana would have attended the coronation… her brother is there I think. Now THAT would have been awkward. I like to think she would have declined and gone to Archie’s birthday party instead Grin

Yes, I think this is why in general they've been accepted, even by his own children. It's obvious they've always loved each other, it's actually very sweet and romantic. It's obviously very tragic that Diana was collateral damage

Tony Blair is responsible for the Princes walking behind the coffin?

I thought MN was a place to share opinions. I didn’t realise everything everyone said on here had to be thoroughly researched, fact checked, peer reviewed and signed off by legal and editorial. I’m just sitting in the hairdressers watching the coronation and sharing thoughts.

There's a difference between opinion and falsehood

I think it must be hard too OP - I doubt they'd have stayed together, although of course they never stood a chance, with Camilla and Charles from day one. Watching that impact on a parent whilst growing up must have been awful, irrespective of whether you want your remaining parent to be happy.

notsosoftanymore · 06/05/2023 13:08

I'm with you OP. Can't be bothered to read all the comments lacking in simple empathy and kindness. I did do an eye roll at the Guardian photo of the old bag on the throne, Charles himself had the depth to look anxious and serious, she looked like the cat who'd got the cream. Fingers crossed for karma. 😂

Maireas · 06/05/2023 13:08

Surely, if Diana were alive, we would have achieved world peace 🕊️

This isn't the first time I've seen something like this. It's actually quite silly, she was very supported of the whole institution and William being King. She came from aristocracy herself. I'm sure if allowed she would have been there with bells on!

Dagnabit · 06/05/2023 13:12

You sound like you personally know the family 😂😂

Hayliebells · 06/05/2023 12:04

I can think of a whole bunch of people whose significant life events I'd want to celebrate before Charles'. In fact I see no reason to celebrate any events of Charles', what has he ever done that is good? The fact that as a country we're still expected to show deference to a man for no reason other than his ancestry, is ridiculous.

Prince's Trust?

Spoke out on the environment years before others did

Stripedbag101 · 06/05/2023 13:17

Yep two boys had a very privileged upbringing but their parents had an unhappy marriage. Their dad cheated and their parents divorced. Their mum tragically died and their dad married a woman who he had an affair with during their marriage.

that is tough - but lots of people are the children of divorce, lots of people lose a parent and lots of people have issues with a step parent.

Harry has turned this into his personality. He was so young when this all happened and I know it must have been tough. But he is a middle aged man now - I am not saying he should get over it but surely he can see while yes he has suffered he has also been unbelievably blessed throughout his life.
