Which was their damage limitation number so when they lost 800 they could say 'we've not done as badly as we feared'.

AIBU to be cracking open the champagne while they try to figure out how the hell they can put a positive spin on this?

Whilst my local council wasn't having elections this year, the people cheering labour on, well mine is a labour council who sat and let one of the worst CSE in the country but yeah wahey labour.

I'd never vote that vile labour scum in on my local council.

We've gone very green here....the first time Tories have lost their hold since 1995. And the seat in my ward it's a landslide victory. If the Tories can be ousted here, anything is possible.

So the Tories could win the next GE then.

CelerEtAudax · 05/05/2023 21:12

Friend of mine has forwarded a me message from his local MP to the local Tory FB group. He is shitting himself in fear!

The Tories may well have previously been captured, but at least they now say they know what a woman is for.

And people like you fall for that crap 🤣 well done

What they should say is we know what a women is but we don't actually give a crap

dapsnotplimsolls · 05/05/2023 21:13

What is a woman for?

LiliLil · 05/05/2023 21:14

jgw1 · 05/05/2023 20:55

The safety of women and children has to be the most important thing.

The safety of women and children?

Have you read the news lately? Shall we talk about how cuts to policing, social care services, domestic violence services, mental health services or preventative services such as sure start centres have been cut to the bone? Or the rising child poverty figures?

The Tories do care deeply about remaining in power .

Ask Boris, he's had many.

You do know who was responsible for setting the rules on who goes to prison.

Yes that right Keir the beer Starmer.

dapsnotplimsolls · 05/05/2023 21:17

Sooo ... people will vote Tory because Boris is a serial shagger? Is that what you're saying?

LiliLil · 05/05/2023 21:17

Are you drunk?

Did all the services I just mentioned go to prison? Is that why they’re all gone? Silly me.

HollyFern1110 · 05/05/2023 21:19

Our ward stayed Tory but by a much reduced majority. We have 3 Conservative councillors - the 2 Labour candidates were about 10 and 20 votes behind which in itself is huge for us. The constituency went to no overall control after about a zillion years of huge Conservative dominance.

I think you are jealous that you are simply not as successful as Boris.

Bad people go to prison.

I heard that Starmer visited a prison once, so he must be a bad person.

The next year will show that Rishi is a strong and stable leader and just the person that we need to lead us out of the current crisis.

Coz ‘strong and stable’ has worked out so well for the Tories.

Local elections are no bearing on general at all.

Correct.

Yesterday, people were choosing their local councillors, to run their communities, not the country. Personal votes are a huge factor because many people are voting for people they know. Support for local Independents, Greens etc are always massively higher than at general elections, while turnouts are massively lower.
Being a councillor is a bloody thankless task, and the people who are prepared to commit to it, work hard at it & do a good job deserve support, whatever colour rosette they are wearing. I voted for a very hard working & committed councillor yesterday, who happens to be a Tory, although I would never dream of voting conservative at a general election. I voted for her, not her party.

Interesting times and all that !

The problem with the Conservatives currently in government is that they booted out all the 'conservatives' during their frenzied Brexit purge and have been left with dregs and people with ideologies that sink the economy.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 05/05/2023 21:22

13 years of successful Tory government and that is the best you have got.
It'll be 13 more glorious years, mark my words.

No one wants But Jeremy Corbyn and Keir the beer.

Of course people care. They voted to leave the EU so that we could keep control of our borders and yet the French are still letting people come here in boats.

The Tories lost Dover…

That doesn't appear to be a popular line to take on this thread, and yet it really is the big issue facing this country.

😂

Just another example of the problems caused by letting so many migrants in.
