How would you split this?

Theme park short break, 2 families sharing the same accommodation.

Family 1, 2 adults 1 child 11 year old.

Family 2, 2 adults 2 children 11 year old and 3 year old.

Tickets for the park included within the accommodation price. 4 adults and 2 children, 3 year olds goes free

How would you split the cost?

50/50 here too. The 3 year old is free and sharing your room.

Thanks for everyone's responses, I'm in family 2 and have booked this break. Family 1 were under the impression that the accommodation would be split 7 ways as the number of people travelling. I was thinking 50/50 per family.

Their way is fairer

Mum2jenny · 05/05/2023 20:23

50/50 is the only sensible option

LolaSmiles · 05/05/2023 20:23

Another vote for 50/50.

It's nice to see a unanimous AIBU

ConsuelaHammock · 05/05/2023 20:25

Ok I’ve just reread the op. 50/50 is fair . I thought you had the two 11 year olds.

Mum2jenny · 05/05/2023 20:25

The 3 yo costs nothing and has no separate bedroom, so anything other than 50/50 is due to cf friends

JudgeRudy · 05/05/2023 20:30

I think it should be split 50:50 as you each have 1.5 rooms. There was not cost for 3 year old pass however make sure meals out and snacks are split slightly in their favour as you have an extra mouth to feed.

Okunevo · 05/05/2023 20:31

Accommodation is easy 50/50 as the three year old is costing no extra.

I would, however, take the three year old's food off of restaurant bills before splitting, assuming you drink the same. If there's a big mismatch with drinks then I'd pay for my own. If it was the other way around you may be happy to pay for half a children's meal but I wouldn't want to cause issues there.

Bunnichick · 05/05/2023 20:36

Did they agree to pay half then?

I wouldn't worry about restaurant bills. If they want to split it by the Penny then let them and neither of you will be resentful about paying for the other.

TidyDancer · 05/05/2023 20:37

Did she give any reason for her thinking on this? Or perhaps she just hasn't done any thinking and that's how this has come about! It's quite obvious a 50/50 split is best so she's either misunderstood, a bit stupid or a total CF.

rookiemere · 05/05/2023 20:39

50/50 as the 3 yr old doesn't really count as sharing room with you and entrance ticket is free.
Bit worrying that they are proposing any different split.

Their way is fairer

How is it fair if the 3 year old costs no money? They have a slightly better room - IMO not sharing with a child is better.. they are penny pinching.

50/50 split seems fairest IMO - and I would try and stick to it OP

If not i'd be wanting the 3 year old and 11 year olds to share

Miscellaneousme · 05/05/2023 21:21

50/50 for sure.
