AIBU to ask if they're worth it?
I'm not usually into labels, but I always think they look really smart, and have coveted one for ages - but whenever I get close to purchasing, essentially it's £100ish for a nylon tote bag.

YABU - overpriced
YANBU - they're great, get one

I use my one all the time for travel, especially work travel. It fits loads, including laptop. I was considering a new one (my has gone in the corners too), but do feel they are pricey now. Although as PP said, I do get laods of use out of it and it has lasted well so probably really cheap "per wear"

Maerchentante · 04/05/2023 08:31

I've got three plus a smaller one with a cross body strap. Use them all on a regular basis.
If I recall correctly, I only paid full price for one, and that was a Christmas gift to myself in 2020.
One I've had since 2010 and it's kept really well, only downside is that the phone pocket is not big enough for my phone.

I really like how spacious they are. But not sure I'd pay £100 for one.

Allblackeverythingalways · 04/05/2023 08:33

I absolutely love mine, I think this is my 2nd. Been using them for about 10 years

Carmelalefou · 04/05/2023 08:41

I used to have similar from Herve Chapelier which I preferred.

User5438790 · 04/05/2023 08:42

They are very good for work as they look reasonably smart and carry a lot but I don't use mine much now I am retired as I either use a smaller handbag with compartments or a rucksack for days out

Beaniesmumsie · 04/05/2023 08:46

Had mine about 9 years, it’s my nappy bag so have been used daily the past 3 years (and getting bashed around), still looks quite new. I’ll replace it if it gets trashed one day

WinchSparkle80 · 04/05/2023 08:57

I was going to get one for a holiday, pool bag, carry kids stuff on plane, what size is good for this? medium or large?

Wiglio · 04/05/2023 09:01

I have one and the zip went, (my fault) I took it to longchamps for repairs and they sent it to Paris where the zip was replaced (£20) and the scruffy corners were done with no charge
I like them, they last well and are much lighter than leather bags.

WithIcePlease · 04/05/2023 09:06

A work horse bag. I have 4 but use 2 regularly. I like that they are so light. I like the look of them. I'm not bothered about compartments.
Both DD's had large ones for school bags and they are still going 10 years on for travelling/gym etc
The amount of use justifies the price easily on the ones I have had. I'll definitely replace when current ones wear out.

Idtotallybangdreamoftheendlessnotgonnalie · 04/05/2023 09:09

JoJo maman Bebe do a version for £10.

ThinWomansBrain · 04/05/2023 22:24

thanks everyone
I looked at eBay - if I got one and didn't like it, they seem to hold their value well. Concerned about "new with tags" ones - someone with a dozen of the things to flog can't have had them all as unwanted gifts, they must be fake.

Will take a look at the other suggestions - I did see a similar non-folding one by Radley, but that wasn't a lot different in price to a Longchamp one.

Folding feature makes them really handy to take them into town as a shopping bag, pop it into our handbag or over your shoulder when folded. I have a couple and love them. I also have an ‘extendable’ gym bag which is fab.

ExcaliburBaby · 04/05/2023 22:59

i love them. i’m on my second one - they last soooo long. i got mine on 2019 in Paris and while i will probably replace it this year, it’s still holding up well. i adore having a ludicrously capricious bag i can chuck all my stuff in. they are great for one holiday/planes too.

Thisbastardcomputer · 04/05/2023 23:10

I've got a few and they are worth every penny and look classy

NancyJoan · 04/05/2023 23:14

Love them. I don’t like lots of sections, I never know where anything is.

Always look smart, great for flights and days out with kids.

Namechanger355 · 04/05/2023 23:15

Love mine - have two sizes and have lasted me years

look nice, are robust and not so expensive I don’t want to use them - I batter them abojt as changing bags and work bags etc

I just bought a little handbag pouch to keep my cards and keys

WeldMeDaphne · 04/05/2023 23:31

I have an overnight size tote and the backpack. Love them both- the backpack is amazingly capacious for something that appears so small, and I prefer the backpack style over my various crossbody ones. They’re light too, which I love ( hate a bag that feels heavy before you even out anything in it…!). They’re pretty bombproof as well, though both mine are dark colours. I did have a fake one I bought in a market in HK which lasted well until DH borrowed it and knackered the zip because he overstuffed it… make of that what you will re the fake ones!

Amortentia · 04/05/2023 23:37

I bought a large Le Pliage about 5 years ago and it still looks new. I either fold it up to use as a spare bag if I’m traveling or shopping. But If I’m just using that bag for the day I use a felt insert. I bought it from Amazon and it’s handy for sorting stuff out in sections.

toodlesofoodles · 04/05/2023 23:42

I've had mine for about 6 years, I bought it at an airport so paid less and it's done well as a work bag. Corners have gone, but it took a while.

TurquoiseDress · 04/05/2023 23:47

YANBU!

I've bought around 4 Longchamp pliage bags in the past decade or so...always with vouchers and promotions...never paid full price Grin

They are so durable, long lasting, roomy & stylish looking

I love them...get one!

BeaLola · 04/05/2023 23:57

I have 2 back packs and a large overnight bag - love them - use them all the time and yet they look brand new - I bought one of the back packs and the overnight bag from J lewis in the sale

CorvusPurpureus · 05/05/2023 00:11

I am definitely missing something here.

My local supermarket offers a really quite ok sturdy tote bag in either plastic or cotton. I've had some of them for years.

I'm approximately £97 better off, according to this thread.

There's got to be a reason why I am doing this All Wrong.

If it's just 'we like pretty bags' then ABSOLUTELY fair play to the pretty bag club!

OctopusComplex · 05/05/2023 00:16

Forgot to say, yes, if the corners go, they will mend them once. Also, pretty easy to mend yourself! If you can use a sewing machine, the easiest fix is on YouTube.

Btw, always annoyed when I spend money on a dupe, and it starts to look tatty in a few months. Such a waste, money, materials etc. Buy once, buy well!

Icedlatteplease · 05/05/2023 00:24

I get the love for the usefulness durability and style..... kinda.... I just can't for the life of me tell the difference between a 100 odd quid genuine one and £10-£20 knock off from amazon, especially if you cover the branding

TurquoiseDress · 05/05/2023 00:28

I'm up late with DH away with work & the kids asleep.

Have done a Longchamp Le Pliage audit in my home Grin

Longchamp Le Pliage Original shoulder bag Rich navy- bought in 2012 am still using as a ‘going out’ bag…so it no longer gets that much use Grin

Longchamp Le Pliage Original large shoulder bag Khaki colour- bought in 2014

Longchamp Le Pliage Original large shoulder bag ?mulberry/deep purple colour- bought in 2021

All the above are still going strong!

I love my Longchamp Le Pliage bags!StarSmile
