To be grossed out by human albumin in Botox?

I went for a Botox consultation the other week and was just about to sign the disclaimer when I read at the bottom of the fine print that Botox contains "an ingredient derived from human blood and although no cases of viral transmission have been reported, this risk cannot be completely excluded". Yikes! 🫣 Was I unreasonable to change my mind at that point and go home? The injector (a dental surgeon) seemed very surprised about this.

Are you serious? Dentists are far more highly qualified.

That's grim OP. It would certainly put me off.

Yes, but in tooth restoration and extraction. Root canals. Not Botox 😂 I promise you Botox isn’t on the how to become a dentist syllabus at any of the dental schools 😆

Well I never thought it was made of glitter and fairy dust

You are right. Botox isn't on the how to become a dentist syllabus at any of the dental schools. It's also not on the how to become a doctor or nursing practitioner syllabus either.

It's a course that dentists and doctors do as a post-graduate of course.

What IS on the dental school syllabus is the study of head and neck anatomy ( including dissection). The arrangement of facial and oral nerves and blood vessels is covered in minute detail. As is the muscles, skin fat tissues, bones of the head and neck. As is neuro anatomy.
As is adverse reactions and allergies and dealing with medical emergencies. As is safe prescribing and pharmacology. Dentists are licensed and insured to prescribe this.

In short dentists are probably the safest pair of hands for all your facial Botox requirements.

"Skin fat tissues" was predictor text for soft tissues, but skin and fat are relevant also

I don't have Botox but if I did I'd go to my dentist.

Can't say I blame you for walking out op.

You are voluntarily choosing to paralyse your own perfectly good facial muscles in the name of vanity but all you can focus on is the albumin? Riiight.

However, if I was ever this daft I would only ever let a Dentist administer it.
