We have to make crowns for school.
I have some very pink glittery card.
WIBU to adorn my daughter's card with huge pink glitter ears in tribute to the monarch? Or in this woke new world is this shaming the royal body?

People are so po-faced on here!

I’d have a smile and some quiet admiration if I saw that on the school run… (and I’m a royalist!) As long as your kid can style it out with the same humour and chutzpah, go for it!!!

I’m sure the people who made fun of me thought they had ‘humour and chutzpah’ every fucking day!

But I assure you that King Charles won’t be crying into his pillow. Not every bit of satire or bawdy mockery is about you and your childhood… 🙄

He was bullied over his ears. You sound like someone who bullied others and then accused the victim of not being able to ‘take a joke’. Unless you’ve been there you have no bloody idea what it’s like

Why not just make a normal crown?

MaccyD100 · 03/05/2023 23:24

He's literally got completely normal ears. Marginally bigger than average which is why satirical comedy shows in the 80s chose to accentuate them as part of the caricature. The ship has well and truly sailed. You'd seriously embarrass yourself dragging it up.

Agreed. People who are bullies or who condone bullying invariably accuse others of being "po faced" or not seeing the joke.

No doubt OP is having a laugh to themselves thinking they've been terribly witty, to congratulate themselves on their very poor sense of humour. I'm just grateful they aren't going to inflict it (hopefully) on their poor DC.

Is "don’t be a dick" completely alien to people now? Aye, yeah, mortify your child into the bargain. Funny fucker aren’t you? Hmm

DollyP88 · 04/05/2023 02:45

I’ve seen a lot of little ones with sticking out ears who probably grow up to hate them when they start to care about how they look as they near adolescence. This would all be made worse if kids started calling them names. It’d be especially horrible if a parent’s (unfunny) action encouraged this bullying and insecurity in young kids over their appearance.
