To make a crown with ears on?

NewtoHolland · 03/05/2023 18:55

We have to make crowns for school.
I have some very pink glittery card.
WIBU to adorn my daughter's card with huge pink glitter ears in tribute to the monarch? Or in this woke new world is this shaming the royal body?

OP fucked off then?

Trolling is FUN.

Wallsofglass · 03/05/2023 21:00

Can’t you make her a lovely crown that makes her feel special with some nice jewels etc, rather than making this a day all about you and your (unkind) sense of humour ?

LaughableMonarchy · 03/05/2023 21:01

OP will be busy making her “hilarious” crown

Sirzy · 03/05/2023 21:03

I was bullied through primary school because of my big ears. Something like this would have been really hurtful.

MetalFences · 03/05/2023 21:04

Is everything you do forty years too late?

Arewehumanorarewecupboards · 03/05/2023 21:06

It’s very daily mail so if you are in to that type of thing go for it.

Or in this woke new world is this shaming the royal body?

I’m not sure that you understand the meaning of the word woke.

YellowDots · 03/05/2023 21:06

I'd forgotten the whole ears thing. I suppose he just looks like a lot of older men nowadays.

I'd just be thinking that it was a bit of a shit crown. Poor kid, having to explain that all day.

PiffleIsTakingThePiss · 03/05/2023 21:07

Ridiculous. Grow up.

kitsuneghost · 03/05/2023 21:08

Taking the piss out of someone isnt nice no matter who they are.

He's like my cat - he took a while to grow into his ears, too.

AtrociousCircumstance · 03/05/2023 21:16

YANBU to feel an urge to do something that doesn’t feel like furlock-tugging royalist obedience.

Ears not a good idea but I understand why you feel the urge to subvert things a little!

DietCokeUser · 03/05/2023 21:18

Haven’t thought about Charles’ ears since about 1985. Not sure it’s a “joke” anyone in your daughter’s class will get.

fluffy2buffy · 03/05/2023 21:19

I thought it was funny!

Yabu.

This.

Kablea · 03/05/2023 21:21

Well the children probably won’t get that reference. If you want to make fun of someone’s appearance, why not wait until Halloween and get your daughter to dress up as one of their classmates or teachers who has an undesirable physical affliction?

Same. I can't believe anyone would think this is ok

Anonymouseposter · 03/05/2023 21:24

YABU-and childish-and stupid.

Yabu.

I love this 😂

It was meant to come across more tongue in cheek but forgive me long days with small people have clearly nuked my brain 😂.

Its mumsnet expect it 🤣 I thought it was funny. People are too serious nowadays. You can see it was a joke x

Does your dd want big ears on her crown or is mummy looking for a bit of “gosh aren’t I sooo funny” attention?

This

#Making fun of peoples appearance is a pretty shitty joke.

#Saying ‘it was just a joke, lighten up’ is something people say when they have been called out for doing something most people don’t think is acceptable.

As someone bullied for their appearance at school due to a facial deformity it’s not funny. I do take it seriously! Don’t teach children that it’s ok to bully others for how they look as the receiving side is fucking awful.

UWhatNow · 03/05/2023 22:48

People are so po-faced on here!

I’d have a smile and some quiet admiration if I saw that on the school run… (and I’m a royalist!) As long as your kid can style it out with the same humour and chutzpah, go for it!!!

StarDolphins · 03/05/2023 22:50

The irony of some of these replies calling op unkind.
