Mine is that Derren Brown’s dad was my swimming teacher when I was in primary school.

I was in the top set too, only time I’ve ever been any good at a sport!

Whats yours?

My friend is on the S4C TV channel all the time.

I've been on TV and in papers.

My old best friend plays for an old but well known band.

I regularly chat (DMs) with a well known cult series actor online, he's absolutely lovely.

I dated a well known man connected to a big nineties band, for a while.

I used to regularly get drunk with the lead singer of a band whoch was on TOTP in the old days, in his kitchen.

I know several big street artists.

I've met and worked with several bands and DJs over the years.

My friend is a BAFTA nominated musician (and winner) and his music features in huge console games.

I know several published authors.

I'm going to shut up now.

Mamabear48 · 27/04/2023 19:25

My uncle was part of Duran Duran

SparklestheUnicorn · 27/04/2023 19:35

I briefly dated James Corden’s cousin. He himself was a performer but not well known. Liked to talk a lot about how James never helped him or put a word in. Said he was an absolute arse. He was also an absolute arse.

'Judith' from Monty Python's The Life of Brian was my yoga teacher.

I work for 3 famous people. I do their social media channels..NC'd for this

fussychica · 27/04/2023 20:02

Met Henry Cooper the boxer, lovely man.
Had a regular slot on local radio in the early 80s
Appeared on TV but only as an audience member at Ronnie Scott's jazz club. DH has been on several televised quiz shows and DS was an extra in Hinterland and has appeared on Spanish TV.
I bumped into Tony Hadley in a record shop, I used to think he was lovely but seeing him in the flesh was a real letdown.

Pocketchickadee · 27/04/2023 20:20

I work in PR so I’ve lost count of the amount of famous people I’ve met, spoken to, hung out with now but before that I once accidentally walked into Jamie Redknapp, served a drink to prince Harry, played football with the Zutons and went on holiday with Lorraine Pascale

ToWhitToWhoo · 27/04/2023 20:36

I once had tea at Mary Quant's house when I was a kid (not quite as glamorous as it sounds: it was her housekeeper, not her, whom we knew and were visiting, and Mary Quant wasn't in fact there!)

ToWhitToWhoo · 27/04/2023 20:46

A couple more that come to mind:

I once had a long-distance phone conversation with Tom Lehrer.

I once played with Bill Browder when we were both little kids.

Not me - but all the stories about nearly running over people remind me that one of my schoolmates' main claim to fame was that she was once nearly run over by Ilie Nastase.

Only4nomore · 27/04/2023 20:49

My mum was the nanny to the kid in the Tom Hanks film splash and lived next door to the beegees

Bintymcbintface · 27/04/2023 20:50

How do you know he mentioned you and said you were hot if he didn't use your name? This sounds a little like dozens of screaming girls being excited that someone on stage pointed at/blew a kiss at them

louderthan · 27/04/2023 21:01

My grandad was a civil servant who wrote the Country Code, and scripted and directed public information films in the 40s and 50s.

mumof2many1943 · 27/04/2023 21:02

Not sure whether this is a boast, when nursing in the East End in the 60’s we frequented a pub and the Kray brothers often bought us a drink 🤭after a late shift! They were always very pleasant.

louderthan · 27/04/2023 21:09

Oh and I slept with the singer of a dance duo who had one massive hit in the mid noughties. He was an arse

Robyn847 · 27/04/2023 21:13

I went to the same church as the man who invented the Curly Wurly.

My Cousin is Rob Grant, writer and producer of Spitting Image and Red Dwarf, he also had a No1 single with The Chicken Song 😂

Loved Red Dwarf, funniest show ever!

Donny Osmond once waved at me.

Toddlerteaplease · 27/04/2023 21:34

Bill Brysons son is one of our consultant surgeons.

QuintanaRoo · 27/04/2023 21:34

I used to be in a VW owners club with the man who invented the “thank Crunchie it’s Friday” jingle thing. Bizarrely he swears it made him enough money to take early retirement and live the life of Riley.

Slapmybellywithawetlettuce · 27/04/2023 21:36

I went to school with Victoria Beckham’s younger brother.
She was the chaperone at a party at their house one night and caught me snogging one of the boys in the bathroom.
