Mine is that Derren Brown’s dad was my swimming teacher when I was in primary school.

I was in the top set too, only time I’ve ever been any good at a sport!

Whats yours?

I'm not sure this counts as a claim to fame but I met and shook Prince Phillip's hand when I was on university and I guess I saw Benedict Cumberbatch (sorry if I spelt his name incorrectly) at the an Ottolenghi the other day? Also my husband sang songs that were included on the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter soundtrack.

Emotionalstorm · 28/04/2023 19:15

Re my husband's singing it wasn't actually impressive. He was part of the school choir so it was not like he sang solo and was included in the movies.

I wouldn't post anything on this thread due to the online security issues it could create.

My great great (possibly a third great) grandfather was an olympic rower.

Gazza was a family friend in the 80s/90s and used to dress up as santa and bring us presents

A love island winner was a couple of years below me at school. Not that I watched it, just recognised her in the news

One of my children is in the same class as a child of a mediumly famous comedian. We've never said more than a passing hello and I think my child has been to one of their child's birthday parties. That's the extent of it.

The comedian isn't my humour, a bit too try hard for me but my husband thinks they are brilliant. He points them out from a distance if he's ever at school with me and I nod, shrug and change the subject. He doesn't understand why I don't really care but I just dont.

Mick Jagger's Dad came to my Grandad's funeral.

I once held a fairly long email exchange with Chaz n Dave, initially with whichever relative of one of them deals with their stuff but then with them (this was shortly before Chaz sadly died). I had to send them videos of the thing we were asking for permission to use one of their tracks for. They wanted to know if there'd be any lurchers (this was a sort of condition for use)... there were, several and they were pleased with the eventual performance!

Martin Clunes's DD once attended a 6th form party at my house and camped over. My DS was in her class. She drove herself so I didn't get to meet him at pick up time. My DS visited their house but he was away filming. Although he's obviously a National Treasure, she was as dismissive of him as any normal teenager. Which I was heartened by.

He attended parents evenings in a suit, looking just like Doc Martin.

I've run a project to successfully deliver a particular school program used by teachers. It's well regarded, and despite numerous attempts in all the home nations in the past fifteen years, mine is the only one that wasn't withdrawn swiftly after launch for being absolute cack.

For various reasons, the official handbook includes some photos taken by moi, featuring my hands and desk equipment.

We were once travelling to Cornwall, my youngest was about 9 months old. It was quite late at night and he was a bit crabby. We stopped at a garage and I took him out the car. A lady walked passed me and did the 'aww' face at him. My mother in law said after that it was Caroline Quentin. I did recognise her after she'd gone.

Heath ledger is a cousin of mine once or twice removed. Never met him and never will now.

I've seen Darren Day in the shops a couple of times.

I once served Sam Nixon.

I saw The Cookie Crew walking down Clapham High Street in the late 1980s. One of them was eating a pizza slice.

I once briefly worked for Mr. Kirsty Young when he was still with his first wife. Ghastly little man, you're well shut of him, Tanya.

My Auntie went out with Jeff Capes 🤣

My cousin was on Police: Night Shift 999

My sons friend is the brother of a very well known TV presenter.
Because of their jobs my son and same friend have been asked for their autographs.

My youngest child has a card game character named after him.

cleanasawhistle · 30/04/2023 20:35

I went to the same school as two very famous ladies....though not at the same time ;-)

sueelleker · 30/04/2023 20:44

I was on telly at 10 years old. They filmed "Five O'Clock Club" on the West Pier in Brighton, and took all my school class as audience. We got free goes on all the rides!

Years ago my bestie was working in a nursing home
In walked this bloke and they got chatting
He asked what she thought to the band shed7 and she told him exactly what she thought-she wasn't into them at all-in fact I think she finished up with 'They sound like their bollocks are being crushed by a very large bolder'

She had to be told afterwards that he was the lead singer...

😂😂😂😂😂😂
