14.59 is not 15.00.

Neither my husband nor I had it. We have fairly up-to-date iPhones and 5G.

He has been investigating and apparently most of the people who didn't get it are (like us) with Three.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 23/04/2023 16:21

I'm not with 3 and my DH and DD got it (same network as me)

ShowUs · 23/04/2023 16:23

Apparently those that got it before 3pm are seen as having the most desirable traits and are given a head start to save themselves.

Those that got it after 3pm are seen as having less desirable traits and it doesn’t matter as much if they survive or not.

And then there are the ones that didn’t get it at all 🫢

lardass88 · 23/04/2023 16:58

I didn't get one either. So obviously not worthy enough to be informed of an impending zombie apocalypse 🤣

MrsJackGrealish · 23/04/2023 15:28

I wonder if it's network related.

There was an article in Guardian (I think) that suggested that those on the Three network didn't get the alert. We're on Three and didn't get the alert.

My son didn’t get the alert and he is with Three l

Data on comms is held by the networks so that will give a pattern of information (including the time messages went out and then were actually received. My guess would be the system didn't "send" to all simultaneously at 3pm as it would be like a DOS attack and overwhelm the networks so I would think there were staggered batches? Also, because so many of us had to actually click 'ok' or other, that sends a signal back that it was read (like a read receipt on an email). I suspect that there were also different types of tests sent out to see what was more successful etc

I feel so left out I didn't get an alert 😫 I'm not going to know what to do if there is an apocalypse!!

RedToothBrush · 23/04/2023 18:33

Being on the Three Network just got you all killed cos the Emergency Alarm failed.

Unlucky.

Next time choose your internet provider more wisely.

IhearyouClemFandango · 23/04/2023 19:02

Ha, cause that's one of the things you can check when you choose a network provider 😂

Miri13 · 23/04/2023 19:06

DH and I both got them at 2:59pm.

seratoninmoonbeams · 23/04/2023 19:08

All phones on the 3 network didn't get one apparently. Mine was at 2:59 on EE and DHs was bang on with Vodafone.

I am on 3 and mine came through about 3.20. Not surprised in the slightest that they had issues

My work often send out business continuity texts and it is known that people on 3 never receive them.

RainBow725 · 23/04/2023 19:51

Mine finally came through at 18:25!! So as long as it's an emergency that only needs a 3.5 hour warning, I'll be just fine 🤔

RainBow725 · 23/04/2023 19:52

I'm with Vodafone - not Three. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Maybe they oughta look into sending carrier pigeons, probably more reliable!! 😂

OnMyWayToSenility · 23/04/2023 21:49

No one got it where I live! 0 nothing de nada

mangodreams · 24/04/2023 07:08

I am on O2 and didn't get it. I had a good signal and was on wifi all afternoon so no idea why I was left out!

Aslanplustwo · 24/04/2023 07:44

I really had no idea life in the UK was so dull - but it really must be for all the discussion on this perfectly normal test of an emergency alert!!

It's not "perfectly normal" in the UK, it's the first time it's happened.
You're obviously in a foreign country.

What a stupid comment. It’s the first time it’s been done in the UK, of course people are going to talk about it, especially when so many people seem not to have received it.

Life can’t be too exciting where you are though, you’re spending your time on here telling us how we’re all wrong for discussing it. 🤪

Or maybe, just maybe, this is just a very small part of what’s going on in our lives.

Believe it or not, every country which has emergency alerts had a first time!! We haven't had them for decades, I can still remember when the first one happened - but I don't remember the whole country talking about it for days, and days, on end, and carrying on the way people have on the several threads on MN.

Once again, every country has a first time. I've never received one yet as some phones don't get them. It's the first time I've ever said that by the way, I haven't felt it necessary to discuss it, and apart from a casual reference I've never heard anyone else talking about the alerts - even the first time it happened. There certainly hasn't been any of this rubbish about wondering what hidden agenda the govt. has, or people thinking they don't need to get an alert as nothing bad could possibly ever happen to them, or people wanting to turn it off as it isn't at a convenient time !!!

JenniferBooth · 24/04/2023 23:08

@Aslanplustwo the first one happened pre Covid restrictions pre Partygate pre "lets frighten the pants off everyone" WhatsApp messages

Yesterdays alert was after the above
