Someone's taken credit for anonymous treat!

Quick silly one but not sure what to do.

Friend has had a hard time so I've sent them a cream tea type surprise treat. Left the card anonymous but she finds it difficult to receive without reciprocating and I wanted her to have something just for her with no strings, to cheer her up.

She posts it on social media, another Friend (I don't know) comments, saying enjoy, glad you like, you deserve it type thing

My friend says ahhhh was it you, youre amazing

Other friend says wink wink it's anonymous so I guess you'll never know

Now, to me there alluding it was then. Taking all the bloody credit. I know I didn't send it for credit or even thanks but I'm a little pissed off!

That's Somerset - doesn't count! OP, if you're in Yorkshire, then put cheese on it, like your fruit cake!

CustardySergeant · 22/04/2023 16:56

I suppose if you're Scottish, it doesn't matter whether you have jam or cream first, as long as you then coat it in batter and deep fry it. 😜

RobinHumphries · 22/04/2023 16:50

No the credit stealer definitely sounds like a jam first kind of person

The late Queen was a jam first kind, and she had more class than to steal credit for an anonymous gift, ergo the credit stealer must lack class and be a cream firster.

@Monstersinked I’m secure in that butter then cream then jam, but I’d be calling the police over the apricot jam.

I prefer apricot jam to strawberry jam, which I don't like at all. Raspberry jam is the best anyway.

Note that she text. Nothing on Facebook yet

Has she put anything on Facebook yet or does the world still think she is the mystery gift-giver?

Also, did I see that someone in here had to Google what a cream tea was?

And I almost don't dare ask this, but when we are talking cream tea....... you know what I'm going to say right?

Yes that was me. I'm Irish, I've never heard that phrase before 😂

MrsMitford3 · 22/04/2023 17:06

In case anyone wants one now- I sent DD a cream tea box to her Uni house from Betty's -it was lovely.
Delivers all over the country. Just a little treat to cheer her up!

mainsfed · 22/04/2023 17:10

@MrsMitford3 is that Yorkshire only?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 22/04/2023 17:12

ThatFraggle · 22/04/2023 15:41

Butter, then jam, then cream. Fight me.

100% with you, @ThatFraggle!

CreamTeaFucker clearly has more front than Blackpool.

I'll guarantee you I'm from further north, and I have lived all over the British Isles, only ever heard Devon people try to claim it as a Devon cream tea. To everyone else it's a Cornish thing.

Strangely, I've never heard it called a Cornish cream tea, only Devon cream tea. In any case, anyone who puts the jam on first needs their hard drives checking.

I thought I sent it to her?

🤣🤣🤣

As we all know that the Queen was a shape shifting lizard, all we can infer from this is that lizards like jam first,

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 22/04/2023 17:31

I’d wait till you see her in person and let her know. Have a laugh about the other person claiming credit.

No-she is in Norwich. She said the nicest tea she ever tasted so highly recommend.

tolerable · 22/04/2023 17:40

defeats the entire purpose of anon if you now lay claim to it. AND other friend made a positive comment agreeing she deserved such a nice thing...and alluded to the anonminity(i duno how to spell) ..you could just tick like under her comments then say ..hope it was delightful ..n wink wink...(if u must)

Emotionalsupportviper · 22/04/2023 17:43

So - is this the catering equivalent of bisexual? 🤔

Confusion101 · 22/04/2023 17:43

@tolerable did you read anything beyond the very 1st post?

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/04/2023 17:49

Monstersinked · 22/04/2023 15:48

But the jam would surely slide off. I mean, I'm willing to try it your way, go in, send me one so I can.

Why would it slide off ?

it’s in my mouth quickly 😂

def try it. I’ve tried both ways and cream then jam is the way to go 😁

Don't you usually get the jam and cream in little pots so you can do it whichever way you want?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/04/2023 17:55

it sounds more like she's just playing along?

OnlyFannys · 22/04/2023 18:02

ThatFraggle · 22/04/2023 16:34

If you don't use clotted cream go directly to jail. Do not pass go.

One thing we can all agree on at least

Mummyoflittledragon · 22/04/2023 18:04

Couldn’t you just have gone to McDonalds instead? There’s people wanting info on here. ;))
