Someone's taken credit for anonymous treat!

Quick silly one but not sure what to do.

Friend has had a hard time so I've sent them a cream tea type surprise treat. Left the card anonymous but she finds it difficult to receive without reciprocating and I wanted her to have something just for her with no strings, to cheer her up.

She posts it on social media, another Friend (I don't know) comments, saying enjoy, glad you like, you deserve it type thing

My friend says ahhhh was it you, youre amazing

Other friend says wink wink it's anonymous so I guess you'll never know

Now, to me there alluding it was then. Taking all the bloody credit. I know I didn't send it for credit or even thanks but I'm a little pissed off!

Is it possible to get to your friend’s house for 3pm to get a photo? Then your friend can post a new pic in the comments saying ‘enjoying my lovely gift with the person who actually gifted it to me😍’

Ooooooh

This is one of the best posts I've ever read on MN! Can't wait to see what happens next Shock

coretext · 22/04/2023 14:06

You should definitely go over to your friend's house and share the tea with her

Ooooooh

OR ‘enjoying my unexpected treat with the lovely friend who gifted it to me. Thank you monster!’ and just leave it hanging. That way no one even mentions CF but you’re almost prompting others to ask if CF has been taking credit for it all day.

I think this is the classiest way of doing it. Do not call out creamy fucker.

Monstersinked · 22/04/2023 14:10

Friends mum has asked in the comments if it came with a tea bag 😝

Ooh the tension

Monstersinked · 22/04/2023 14:11

Apparently there were no tea bags.

Apparently there were no tea bags.

According to who

Sapphire387 · 22/04/2023 14:13

Love this thread.

I am six months' pregnant and badly wanting a cream tea now!

Fuerza · 22/04/2023 14:13

I'm glad your friend knows it was you. I cannot believe that the other friend liked the post saying where the tea could be sourced. Unbelievable. She is totally encouraging the belief that she sent it.

OP I would have hung back from immediately posting ''it was me'' but after she'd allowed everybody to believe it was her, I wouldn't have been able to resist posting, a to the point ''it was from me''.

Is the Creamy Faker still liking all of the posts, OP?

That's cinched it - she knows what she's doing

Yep. Up until then I was prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt, but no excuses left for her now.

TheCreamTeaWasFromMe · 22/04/2023 14:14

I can't cope with the tension!!

pimplebum · 22/04/2023 14:15

Just send private message saying pretty much what you said here
"
I really wanted to cheer you up as youre having a hard time and don't deserve it as you're such a lovely person but you a such a giver of a person so I did it anonymously so you wouldn't be trying to play it back - enjoy - things will get better
Love you lots xxx"

zurala · 22/04/2023 14:16

Your friend should post in reply to CF, saying "you said I would never know, but I'm such a super sleuth I've discovered the mystery sender! Monster thought she could do it in secret but I found her out!"
With some laughing emojis.

zurala · 22/04/2023 14:16

And she should tag you, obvs

pimplebum · 22/04/2023 14:17

Btw I don't read other persons FB wink wink message as necessarily taking credit

Monstersinked · 22/04/2023 14:19

Cafe has added to the comments and asked friend and cheeky cow to leave a review . Wtf

OP posts:
Belledan1 · 22/04/2023 14:19

Omg how cheeky.

BeverlyBrook · 22/04/2023 14:20

OP you need to ask Mumsnet to change the title of the thread to WagathaCreamTea

LauraSaidIShouldBeNicer · 22/04/2023 14:20

What a cheeky cow

Salome61 · 22/04/2023 14:21

I stopped doing anonymous years ago when it backfired. I sent my friend an anonymous valentine's rose, she was having a difficult time in her marriage. She was really worried about it and rang me, she thought the gym had given her address out to a man that used to bother her, and was scared he knew where she lived. I had to own up.

DorisParchment · 22/04/2023 14:21

I want a cream tea now!
