Would you give up work

If your DH earned millions, and he gave you half so it was in your name & you were independently financially secure, would you give up work

YABU you would still want to have your own work & earn your own money
YANBU of course you’d give up work ( and what would you do instead?)

What would you do, OP? Is this the position you find yourself in?

I would because I’ve only worked in retail and admin/receptionist. I would be volunteering.

Absolutely 💯 (but I'm single, nearly 60 and have worked bloody hard since I left school without a break...so I reckon I'm ok to take this option now 🤣)

My ex husband made millions. I continued working despite certain funds being in my name. Very happy I did because today he pays zero child support and he made sure everything in the business remained with him.

I can fight it but it’s extremely expensive and stressful. Easier to work for it. I have enough. I don’t need millions.

Yes but I'd probably take something else up instead. Write a book, volunteer places, or go freelance or part time. To keep structure in my life and a sense of self satisfaction.

Or maybe I'd throw myself into yoga/Pilates and train up as a part time instructor.

It would free me up to try on hats basically, but I wouldn't become a lady of leisure. Id get bored.

Thank you everyone, I’ve loved reading these 😁

blacksax, I’d go back to uni to study environmental science. I am concerned about the impacts of how we live on biodiversity, clean air, clean water and soil fertility. To me, these don’t seem to be ‘nice to haves’, but absolutely essential. I’d love to be part of developing a solution for how we create ecosystems which are richer and more functional and which can be harvested for food, wood and other agricultural products. I’m planning to do this part time when dc are older, but I could do it now if I didn’t have to work.

This thread has really made me think about all the amazing things people would like to do, especially for their communities, if they didn’t have to work. It would be so fantastic if there was a way to free people to be able to do this
