Would you give away your pet for a million pounds?

Hypothetically.
If somebody knocked on my door right now and offered to re-home my cat for a million pounds, I just don't think I could do it. Even though that would be a completely life-changing amount of money for me. Could you?

No

riotlady · 18/04/2023 21:22

Yes, totally. Although I think I’d prefer it if they took both cats as they’re brothers and have never been separated before

Dunnoburt · 18/04/2023 21:23

Flip I think I'd eat dog shit on toast for a million.....so I'd probably say yes to the cat...(and steal her back)... lol

EilonwyWithRedGoldHair · 18/04/2023 21:23

No, wouldn't even consider it. Our cat was rehomed with us and hid for two weeks. He's come on so well since then in confidence and general happiness, I could never put him through the trauma of moving to a new family again.

JMSA · 18/04/2023 21:23

I'd be sorely tempted for that amount of money, but I know that I just couldn't. My kids would never forgive me. Plus, I love the wee rascal.

Tinkerbyebye · 18/04/2023 21:24

No

RicherThanYews · 18/04/2023 21:24

Even when they pull down the net curtains for the 5th time, do a massive smelly poo in the living room tray when we have guests, pee on the bed when they get a UTI, wake me up at 3am because they've lost their "babba", trip me up walking down the stairs, up the stairs and just walking, follow us on dog walks so we have to carry them back miaowing like they've been murdered, steal vegetables from the shopping bags and run in the house with live rodents, hang around like financial leeches for 20 years only to ultimately break my fucking heart ... no. Why? Because 1 million pounds would suddenly make many people quite interested in being my friend but the only ones I want are the furry kind that purr and woof.

Hibernatalie · 18/04/2023 21:24

Yea absolutely. I absolutely love her but it’s a million pounds. I could get a new tortoise.

CrunchyCarrot · 18/04/2023 21:25

No.

mynewusername2023 · 18/04/2023 21:25

Absolutely, the cat doesn't really like me anyway. She'll do anything for my DH but just about tolerates me. No idea why as I spoil her rotten!

itsnotmeitsu · 18/04/2023 21:26

Absolutely not, but nobody would want him anyway - this's why we ended up with him.

SmirnoffIceIsNice · 18/04/2023 21:27

£1m would be life changing, but no amount of money could bring me the amount of happiness that my pets bring. I also couldn't live with the guilt of giving them away and wondering if they're happy/being loved and well cared for.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 18/04/2023 21:27

No from me.

No, this pooch is going nowhere.

Love some of these answers! When my ragdoll cat is throwing a hairball up at 4am, then yes, definitely. In fact, after the noise she makes, I'd easily give her to a passing stranger. But in reality, no, I wouldn't. She was a rescue when she was 2 and she's 12 now and although she's an entitled madam, I do love her dearly.

TheHateIsNotGood · 18/04/2023 21:28

As long as they promised not to iviscerate or torture her for a million I'd be tempted. Although I might be consumed by guilt for the rest of my life as I sunned myself with room service on tap. Tough one OP.

CossyBunt · 18/04/2023 21:28

Absolutely not!

DimplesToadfoot · 18/04/2023 21:30

Not a cat in hells chance.

ThursdayLastWeek · 18/04/2023 21:31

It would cost the stranger £1m plus almost immediately the vets bill to put him down I reckon. He’s very old and we’re this >< close anyway.

So yes.

C1N1C · 18/04/2023 21:32

Depends which pet. I keep frogs. I can afford to lose a tadpole.

Cat, never in a million years.

Wife... maybe.

PatchworkElmer · 18/04/2023 21:34

Absolutely not, and we have small pets that probably wouldn’t pine for us. I could never hand an animal I’m responsible for off to “disappear into the night”, not knowing what they were going to.

TheHateIsNotGood · 18/04/2023 21:38

I must be a very bad person - I've got a really nice 21 yr old ds that you can have for £500k too.

Nomorethanthree73 · 18/04/2023 21:38

No

StrawberryFizz27 · 18/04/2023 21:39

Nope! No way

GiveMeCoffeeandTV · 18/04/2023 21:42
