Vinted Sellers

Why is it so hard for sellers on Vinted to list their clothing correctly?!

I ordered a Nike top in large as I have items in that size from Nike that fit me. So I order a Nike top in large, it's come and it's a medium!

I've contacted the seller to say it's been listed incorrectly and their response is "I'm a large and it fits me. I’ve always bought large and had to exchange it for a medium'

Just because it fits you doesn't mean it'll fit me! If the label says medium why then say it's large on a selling site?!

Why is it so hard for vinted buyers to follow through with the bundle of items they wanted? 🤷‍♀️

I’ve just sold a mass load on Vinted (and wasn’t a nice bit of pocket money for it.

I photographed all labels and thankfully have had good feedback that items were as described. I was honest and fair.

The only thing that gave me trouble was a pair of trainers. I’m a size 8, they were given to me for Christmas and were a size 7. So I put them on, brand new unworn tags still attached for £25 which for the brand and style was a bargain. Sold within a day. Just had the feedback saying I was a good seller but they aren’t true to size and didn’t fit so she’s pulled my seller rating down. The thing is with brand new shoes……that’s not really my fault surely? The label said size 8, the brand is adidas so nothing obscure, you would think it would be standard…..such a pain. I sent a nice message back. They didn’t ask for a refund.

You can do so well on second hand sites but sadly can also be ripped off - hard to judge!

It is annoying, but it also annoys me that on vinted it’s got the options of eg small/8, medium/10, large/12. That means that depending on what brand it is and how they size they’re clothing you could be listing a large which is usually more like size 16/18 and having to choose the L/12 option. I think they should have the numbers and the letters sizing as separate options personally. I always list with a photo of the size label included for this very reason!

Yes very much agree with this problem! I was selling something from Zara, lane just says M. Zara website indicates that should be size 10-12 so I’ve added that in the description but needless to say no one’s bitten and the inaccuracy is probably why!

Handsnotwands · 17/04/2023 15:31

I got sent the wrong item. I then had to go to the hassle of returning it but also it appears I have to pay for the (tracked) return 🤯. So I’m £4 out of pocket and I had to drive to the post office. What a pain in the arse.

just what is the buyer protection fee for?

just what is the buyer protection fee for?

Good bloody question.

Margarita45 · 17/04/2023 15:42

I used to love vinted, but more recently it’s become a dumping ground for stuff that really should go in the bin. I spent ages at the weekend looking at football kits for my son, some were marked as ‘don’t know the size’ or ‘a number of tears but still wearable’. And the trainer sections - I’ve thrown out trainers in better nick than half the listings.

Gave up in the end.

Vinted buyers protection is a con.

IrregularChoiceFan · 17/04/2023 15:45

It's really frustrating, I now only order from people who put a photo of the label showing the size. And when listing, I always make sure to include these pictures too.

Fine to say in the description, comes up large etc but items should be listed with the correct sizing information as per the label.

Pringleface · 17/04/2023 15:49

The size options on Vinted don’t usually match what the item is. I take a photo of the label then say something like ‘size L, fits a UK14’ or ‘size UK12 but very generous fit’ to give people a better idea.

suki32 · 17/04/2023 15:55

I'd love to know why 3 years isn't an option for kids sizes. Am I missing something??

Lcb123 · 17/04/2023 15:57

Very annoying. I sell a lot and I always take a photo of the label. I also don’t understand the ‘8/S’ on Vinted as I think equating small, medium etc with a size is confusing

Redburnett · 17/04/2023 15:57

I recently received a size '18' dress. It was tiny, the pit to pit measurement was 15 inches (with almost no stretch). No problem getting a refund but I am mystified how or why it got listed as a size 18. The listed brand was wrong too. Vinted is weird.

Nanny0gg · 17/04/2023 15:59

colourmebladd · 17/04/2023 14:16

Yeah this really annoys me too. I know it's hard to get the exact colour in the photos but it's not hard to mention it in the text "actually purple even though it looks blue in photos".

I was looking at bags once

The complete description for one was: 'Cute Bag'

It is, but it's not very clear. It goes from 24-36 months (2-3yrs) to 4 years, if you look at the sizing in cm it's the next size up from 24-36. So age 4 on Vinted is actually 3-4, age 5 is 4-5 etc.

I did thank you! I'm insinuating the Vinted is awash with time-wasting arseholes!

I had this exact issue. Bought in box shoes for ds that were listed as a size 2. Turned up and they were a zero. When I complained the seller said "they're the same size as my sons size 2 Nikes" well cool story but they don't fit my son. Basically cost me £3.50 (return postage) to find out the seller couldn't read.

But if they've listed it wrong or sent the wrong size, do you still have to pay the return fees? You've not got what you bought in good faith so I don't understand this?

On a side note I got the wrong package recently on a vinted order. Not the wrong item but completely the wrong package - something went wrong at the parcel drop off place. Vinted sorted it all out and my seller and I both got our money. It took a week or so but it was good service I thought.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 17/04/2023 16:26

I stopped using it after buying three items as a bundle and two of them were only fit for the bin - stained and with holes.

I would have had to pay return postage on the whole bundle, which just wasn't worth the hassle.

The seller then responded to my feedback with a 1 star saying I was just trying to get the items for free. They went straight in the bin! She was mental so I blocked her then she updated the feedback saying I was harassing her. Absolute knob.

The "buyers protection" is a joke and customer service are useless.

LumpySpaceGoddess · 17/04/2023 16:36

I’m a seller and a buyer, what annoys me is when people list things as new when they have clearly been worn! I also don’t understand why anyone would list shoes without giving them a clean first 🤢

BertieBotts · 17/04/2023 16:39

Agree with Clevs.

It's partly the fault of the clothing industry having this stupid and illogical convention that when a size is a single number, the number used is the top of the equivalent range.

It's illogical, because for example you'd expect "3 years" to fit a child who is 3, ie, 3-4 years (from the third birthday until the fourth). But actually age 3 is equivalent to 2-3 years.

So it's also Vinted's fault because instead of just using the actual clothing size convention from whatever country they are based in (Most of Europe = single height number, UK = age in months or years) they have used some weird mash up version from nowhere on Earth which manages to combine a range of heights with single ages, just to maximally confuse EVERYONE.

I don't use it for adult clothing because I think sizing second hand adult clothes is a pain but it sounds just as annoying there.

Did you open a case with Vinted? I received an item once described as good condition but it had stains and missing buttons. I expected to have to return it but they just refunded me almost instantly.

This is why I try to only buy items on Vinted from brands I know as sizing varies with all brands. But if it doesn't fit that's not the sellers fault and I understand that but listing it for a completely different size because it doesn't fit the seller makes no sense!

This is a very timely thread - I’ve just listed some stuff on there! I’ve been very careful with ensuring I photograph sizes and labels and then indicating somewhere in the details what the size says is because as mentioned, the size options don’t match up with what they really are! If you select ‘other’ in the size category it allows you to skip that part and just add the size to the listing. Lots of room for error overall but I already sold 4 items this morning and got them posted off - I put my prices realistically low, just want rid of them!

alisonofagun · 17/04/2023 18:27

I bought a bundle of baby items - one vest came with a free nugget of poo on the inside!
