Is this a lot of food for an adult in one day

Adult female:

Breakfast - bowl of cereal with milk, apple juice
Lunch - chicken toastie with side salad and a few crisps, water
Snack (lunch was early) - beans on toast, 2 biscuits
Dinner - homemade chicken curry and rice with peas, water

Is this too much?

I would say yes as beans on toast is effectively another meal disguised as a snack which it is too big to be. It depends though if you are happy & healthy? Is your weight ok? Are you very active etc?

Me personally, i couldn’t eat that much

ThePriceOfSugar · 13/04/2023 22:49

169cm, 55kg, 25yo and deranged:

2 cappuccinos
1 honeycrisp apple
1 beer

I can do this for a good 6 weeks if I'm in the mood. I look like wet newspaper my the end.

Kvetching · 13/04/2023 22:50

It’d be about twice what I’d eat in a day, but it’s all relative. I’d also gain weight on all those carbs.

But I’m 51, newly peri and discovering I can’t eat as much as I used to and stay slim.

Backtoblack1 · 13/04/2023 22:51

It’s high carb but doesn’t seem an excessive amount of food to me.

why do you ask?

EconomyClassRockstar · 13/04/2023 22:51

I had seafood ramen and a portobello mushroom burger with salad. Oh, and 3/4 of a bottle of wine. So, yes. That sounds healthier than my day! 😀

BingleBongleBoo · 13/04/2023 22:52

Beans on toast as a snack?! Confused

Snaaaaacks · 13/04/2023 22:53

Silly question really when there's 0 context on how active the person is or how big the portions are. If the person eating all that is overweight, then yes it is too much for them, if they are thin as a pin no they are clearly not overeating for their activity level. I'm slim and the meals are normal for me without the beans on toast. A snack to me is a piece of chocolate, beans on toast is lunch.

DancingWithTheMoonlitKnight · 13/04/2023 22:54

Beans on toast would fill me up for a week.

MysteryBelle · 13/04/2023 22:54

I think it’s fine.

A typical day at my house is,

lunch (no breakfast): cheddar omelet on toast (Dave’s Killer Sesame Bread) and lime bubly
approx 300 cals

snack: apple, baby bel cheese, water
approx 200 cals

2nd snack: banana with peanut butter
approx 200 cals

dinner: toasted cherry tomato pasta and salad, skim milk
approx 700 cals

dessert: 3 mugs of chocolate ice cream with skim milk
approx 800 cals

SOMEBODY HELP ME 😀😂 I start out ok then I go off the rails!

MysteryBelle · 13/04/2023 22:55

roasted cherry tomato not toasted!

EveryWitchWaybutLoose · 13/04/2023 20:55

Not enough vegetables, too many processed carbohydrates and junk (breakfast cereal particularly). Not enough high quality protein.

🤣🤣🤣

Chicken, beans, milk and cheese....

If these are "low quality" protein...What is "high quality" in your world?

Cherry2010 · 13/04/2023 22:59

Chicken toastie? As in chicken toasted in bread, like a cheese toastie? Sounds so boring, unless you also put cheese on it. Did you? Otherwise, that’s a weird choice (to me)

Coz your probably FUCKING STARVING living of sparrow portions all day.

FancyFanny · 13/04/2023 23:00

There's probably less calories in the beans on toast than other things that might be considered a snack- although it depends on how much toast and much beans you had and if you had cheese on top (which should be mandatory BTW). A big slice of cake would be worse!

Fatty.

No wonder there's an obesity crisis.

That feeds my tall, slim, sporty son for a week.

How can you possibly know she eats twice what you do?

She has given no idea whether a bowl of cereal and apple juice is 20g and 10ml or 130g and 1/2 a pint...

Ice cream in a mug? With milk?

I have questions

Pssst…you forgot ‘strapping’. All sons on MN are strapping

Ice cream in a mug? With milk?

I have questions

Yes. Like a homemade milkshake kind of. Put the ice cream in, put the milk over it, and with a big spoon mix it a little together. It sounds weird when I write it out but it’s like a perfectly respectable milkshake. Only homemade. Or handmade. Better than bought somewhere, in my opinion.

I have a chocolate ice cream addiction 😩, it’s my only vice food wise, and I love milk.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to rein in this powerful addiction….yes I know, I have to control myself.

Dyslexicwonder · 13/04/2023 23:17

I have had:
A banana and a clementine
2 small slices of seeded toast with mushrooms and cheese, a pear, small chocolate.
2/3 rice cakes with butter
Lamb kebab and salad, 1 scoop of ice cream more chocolate

Nameexchange461845 · 13/04/2023 23:17

Depending on portion sizes that could have been any amount of calories from shockingly low to excessive.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 13/04/2023 23:19

Why are you all eating such weird food?!

Diyextension · 13/04/2023 23:25

A snack for me is a bag of 5 Tesco jam doughnuts. ( which I demolish in one go ) as I did today 😋
