Is this a lot of food for an adult in one day

Adult female:

Breakfast - bowl of cereal with milk, apple juice
Lunch - chicken toastie with side salad and a few crisps, water
Snack (lunch was early) - beans on toast, 2 biscuits
Dinner - homemade chicken curry and rice with peas, water

Is this too much?

I would feel fat and crap on that.

Can't see the pleasure in eating like that at all.

Yes eating chocolate is just like stabbing yourself in the face. Awful

Beans on toast assuming a full tin and two slices of toast is a meal.

I am a big fat greedy overweight fucker but...

Who the fuck eats a whole tin of beans for beans on toast?

Lots of women have thyroid issues, it is really common so always worth getting checked as it often goes undiagnosed.

I have never thought about it Dragon but after a quick google of the symptoms I may well get checked out (If I can get a bloody GP appointment!)

I am often knackered and cold and regularly feel anxious and can't sleep - could be nothing but may be worth checking if it's a case of a simple blood test. Thanks x

What are these responses? I eat more than that every single day and I am a totally normal weight.

Me, too, and I'm almost completely inactive.

What's the point of your question, OP?

If I’m having it as a main meal I would. Though I don’t very often as beans make my stomach bad.

Sorry green shit in this house = vegtables Wink it is what DH calls them, personally I love them all apart from the weird aniseedy Fennel. Possibly related to an unfortunate Pernod related incident in my early teens Grin

Funnily enough op I had a Pernod related incident. The reappearance of Pernod and black produced, shall we say ... interesting street art 🤦‍♀️ have to admit I do still like it though on occasion 😂😂

Good heavens. Have you not heard of the obesity crisis? Beans on toast should see an adult right for at least 5 days, if not a week.

😂 fair point

tillytoodles1 · 13/04/2023 22:18

I eat three meals a day and fruit if I'm peckish. Sometimes I am really hungry and have loads on my plate, other days not a lot. Beans on toast is a meal though, not a snack.

I'm not really as bothered about the amount of beans as much as the ratio of beans to toast.

Half a tin of beans and two slices of toast. One whole slice in the middle with . The other slice cut in half diagonally and placed on either side of the whole slice. This is classic beans on toast, surely.

People are saying 'two lunches' like that's a bad thing.

Not just two lunches but two BIG lunches according to LumpySpaceGoddess.

Could swap out the biscuits for lemon drizzle cake?

Drizzled in lemon vodka ? Best of both worlds 😂

GarlicGrace · 13/04/2023 22:26

Dammit, I forgot to do performative undereating 😂
Ignore previous reply. In a normal day, I eat:

Breakfast - Two medium broccoli florets, small pot of plain cottage cheese
Lunch - Half an orange
Dinner - A massive blowout of celery, cucumber, mixed green salad with lemon juice and two cherry tomatoes
Bedtime snack - Slice of melon.

I drink 18 pints of water a day, and am always full despite a daily 2-hour workout, a dance class or swimming, and 25,000 steps. Sometimes I don't even have room for my melon slice!

Oh no, toast formation and beans ratio opens up a whole other world of debate! I’m not sure MN can handle it!😂

It has to be half a can of beans per slice of toast!

Sadly one slice and half a can is too little, but two slices and a whole can is too much.

How to live :(

Zinn · 13/04/2023 22:34

I just wanted to agree with those who say they eat more and are not overweight. I'm 45, 5 foot nothing and 50 kg.

I always imagine all the posters who say this is too much food are overweight, have an idealised concept of a perfect day of eating almost nothing, but probably can only rarely achieve this so are doing a lot of extra eating they are in denial about.

Goldbar31 · 13/04/2023 22:36

Yes, too much.

Tbf, I've practically lived on mini eggs for two days and feel like crap.

Fundays12 · 13/04/2023 22:39

I would say it's a lot but only because of the toast and beans snack plus biscuits. That's a second lunch and snacks. However you may have come back from a 20 mile run and needed it so in that case its fine.

GirlOfTudor · 13/04/2023 22:43

Sounds absolutely normal! Perhaps the beans on toast is too large to call a snack, but it doesn't look like you had any other substantial snacks throughout the day and your other meals could've been tiny.
Why are you asking?

Eranzer · 13/04/2023 22:46

Sounds bang on to me, I eat similarly every day and I'm slim.

FrangipaniBlue · 13/04/2023 22:47

I was going to suggest the same as @DragonScreeches @Itakecreaminmycoffee

Honestly I would barely able to function on 1,000 calories a day let alone do any exercise, I hope you get sorted if you get checked!

A tip to stave off hunger though, high fat (full fat yoghurt, cheese, avocado, nuts) and high protein (meat, eggs) foods work wonders. It takes our bodies longer to break them down than carby foods so takes longer before you feel hungry again.
