A valentines gift/card from your DCs??

Why would anyone do that? Why?

(kind of following on from the other thread about sending your DCs a card from you)

Yep. It's just plain odd.

ALMummy · 14/02/2008 19:09

Why weird? Its an expression of love. As someone said on the previous thread its not about a particular kind of love is it? It can mean whatever your want it to mean, in whatever way is appropriate to the recipient in question. There are many different types of cards. My DS bought me my first bunch of flowers today and I was delighted. Certainly didnt feel 'weird' to me.

RubberDuck · 14/02/2008 19:10

sigh .... this has been done to death on the other TWO threads that were started today.

So don't do it. No-one is holding a gun to your head.

Rubberduck - have been at work all day and can't find a thread related to this.

No one is holding a gun to my head I am just asking the Q. Don't click on the thread - no one is holding a gun to your head!!!

Nah. ALMummy, you send Valentines cards to people you want to shag. NOT your kids. I think there's a law about this somewhere....

SugarBird · 14/02/2008 21:13

Yep. I always thought it was a day about lovers, rather than people you love in general. But maybe that's just me...

kayzisbroody · 14/02/2008 21:17

BarcodeZebra, you can get valentines day cards from your dog and cat I saw them last week, I'm sure there is a law about that too

Spidermama · 14/02/2008 21:19

Gosh! Why the aggression.

Wilkie I agree. I think it's strange.

beeper · 14/02/2008 21:33

Dont get me wrong...I dont do VT Day at all....but its a expression of love not lust.

St Valentine showed love to those by giving food and money to poor people, not kinky lingerie.

southeastastra · 14/02/2008 21:34

yes, not weird but boring

Beauregard · 14/02/2008 21:37

My mom to this day sends me an anonomous valentine card.

She always denies it(and makes crap attempt at disguising handwriting) and it is half the fun tbh.

Beauregard · 14/02/2008 21:37

Good job though cos dp and i don't 'do' valentines.

MsHighwater · 14/02/2008 22:01

"you send Valentines cards to people you want to shag"

Speak for yourself, BarCodeZebra. I gave my dh a valentine "from" my dd and he gave one to her. And to his two other, grown-up, dds and to his gd. And to me, of course.

Nothing strange about it.

BarcodeZebra · 14/02/2008 22:48

kayzisbroody: When they were alive, bless them, both my dog and my cat tried to shag me more than once. Dogs and Cats do that sort of thing. I guess that's why Hallmark make cards for them to send to their prospective shaggees.

MsHighwater: I AM speaking for myself. You don't think it's strange. I do. that's the glory of the net.

It's not as weird as sending one to yourself.

gomez · 14/02/2008 23:05

Wrongly diddly wrong.

Remotew · 14/02/2008 23:07

Forgot to say I got some flowers(Daffs)and heart shaped chocolates from my female friend. She is visiting from away and we both sat it watching love story tonight. Now that is weird

soopermum1 · 14/02/2008 23:23

cory · 15/02/2008 11:21

My fish! my fish!

lilacclaire · 15/02/2008 11:24

I used to take a home made valentines card into my elderly female neighbour when i was little, i didnt really understand the concept obviously, just thought it was sending a card to someone you cared about.
If the kids want to do it fine.
I always send one to my dss and ds in crappily disguised handwriting as well (they have to feign suprise and kid on they don't know its from me)
