Caught out on MN?

Pure curiosity here. Since MN is quite popular, there's BOUND to be some issues spoken about with the person involved also being on MN. I think no matter how much we try to disguise it, coincidence and timing will help those involved identify us...

Has anyone been caught out? What happened?... or if those from the Mirror etc published the story, has it actually caused serious issues?

People don't name change before posting because they think it'll somehow make the very specific situation less outing - they do it so if they are recognised by someone in real life, they can't then be searched and previous posts read.

It really annoys me that people on here don't seem to understand this...

This morning I read a post on a Facebook group that was written by someone who posted in AIBU over the weekend about the issue. I don't know the person in real life though, and it's not something that would cause them anything bad, in fact if the papers pick up the story then some good may happen.

I recognised the OP in a very controversial thread (and subsequent threads) which ended up in a massive pile-on by troll-hunters and leaked over onto reddit and Tattle where she was basically doxed. I didn't post on the thread/s (too messy) but I did email MN Towers to let them know. I didn't tell the OP as I am pretty sure they'll either never be back or will namechange, as did I, as we've clearly both been on MN for years and hadn't come across each other until that point.

I’ve recognised a few people on here. One of them is very open about her life and doesn’t change any identifying details, so I’ve actually recognised her under three different usernames.

I’ve also recognised two people from FB due date groups which originally started on MN, weirdly in both cases they were posting about abortions and clearly really struggling 😞

I would never mention it in real life.

I haven’t ever recognised anyone on these threads and I have been posting for years.
Don’t know if anyone has recognised my
posts. I take precautions such as changing the ages and gender of my kids. Or I may refer to something that happened recently as happening a year ago.
I don’t post anything that I am uncomfortable with tbh .
