Listening to Ladies and Gentlemen this morning while doing some admin on the laptop. I just love his voice, its heaven to listen to and i wish he was still alive, but happy with himself and his life.

Who's singing voice just does it for you?

Gosh thanks for the Roberta Flack song link it’s been a while since something stopped me dead like that Flowers

Whiskeypowers · 08/04/2023 19:10

His voice was pure yet strong with a beautiful tone. The way it could soar was amazing
I love listening to his songs. Such a loss.

Oh george 💔

George is my favourite ever singer and song writer. Saw him 4 times in concert.

I also love the fact that when he died all the 'secrets' revealed were about his kindness and generosity.

Gorgeous man.

🌟💖

HouseByTheSeaside · 08/04/2023 19:28

He was a golden soul.
Love you George 💖

He was ok (vocally, I mean - apparently a very lovely, charitable human being). It's Freddie Mercury all the way for me, voice-wise.

Yes. All these and Luther's timing was spot on too .

Yes.
And Teddy Pendegrass

Ohthebanality · 08/04/2023 20:02

Frank Sinatra is my favourite ever singer. I get goosebumps listening to his songs.

waterlego · 08/04/2023 20:04

@DeNeushoornHeeftEenHoorn, yes Freddie Mercury is my all time favourite male vocalist. Incredible talent.

For female singers, Beyoncé, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey are undoubtedly phenomenally talented, but not something I’d ever choose to listen to. I loved Karen Carpenter and the harmonies she and Richard created.

I think I prefer slightly raw or quirky voices in females though. I like Bjork and Sia and absolutely love LP- both as a vocalist and a songwriter. Her voice in ‘Lost on You’ gives me goosebumps.

Matt Munro. (one for the teenagers there)

Nanny0gg · 08/04/2023 20:11

Oh yes.

Nanny0gg · 08/04/2023 20:12

Mariah Carey would have a lovely voice if she stopped screeching

Always liked Dina Carroll

MyopicBunny · 08/04/2023 20:12

YANBU. I think he had such a lovely, truly unique voice. It's such a shame that he died an untimely death.

Paddingtonthebear · 08/04/2023 20:13

YANBU. George was not only pitch perfect but had a real sincerity in his voice and his delivery that so many others do not have.

George Michael is probably one of the top 3 vocalists I have ever seen perform live - his voice was astounding. Maybe even the best.

Agree . I was lucky enough to see him three times on his Faith tour …..absolutely no one has got close to his beautiful voice .

Jellykat · 08/04/2023 20:17

George Michael everytime for me..
However Bowie doing Wild is the wind, Freddie Mercury and Sam Cook come close..

Female wise, Streisand, Nina Simone, KD Lang and Alison Moyet are my favs

CampsieGlamper · 08/04/2023 20:17

George Michael who sang"put your little hand in mine,
Let me be your father figure"

No thanks.

Errolwasahero · 08/04/2023 17:54

Yes. His Older album is just pure heaven. My favourite is Eddie Vedder though, especially Just Breathe and his music from the film Into The Wild.

I'm with you on Eddie Vedder.

He has been the soundtrack to my life since I was a young adult. His voice is emotional and visceral. Just beautiful.

msssm · 08/04/2023 20:19

Laurdo · 08/04/2023 18:07

His voice is sublime and he was a beautiful kind person too.

Also massive fan of both John Mayer and Chris Cornell's voices.

Chris Cornell and Shawn Smith.

Both singers from Seattle. My favourite (very sadly) deceased singers.

No thanks.

I can think of far worse father figures.

Tracy Thorn - Everything But the Girl

GlassBunion · 08/04/2023 20:26

No he didn't.

Robert Palmer did.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 08/04/2023 20:34

Listen Without Prejudice is all about the first Gulf war and being pregnant with my DS. It’s a wonderful album.

My favourite George songs are Mothers Pride, You Have Been Loved, A Different Corner, and the covers of I Can’t Make You Love Me and The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.

He could sing Freddie almost as well as Freddie.

Vgt6y357 · 08/04/2023 20:58

Such a beautiful soul and an incredible voice. So sad that he died so young.

Another voice I loved in my teen years was David Cassidy. Could it be forever is a beautiful song. Also How can I Be Sure and Day Dreamer give me serious nostalgia.

Sorryyoufeelthatway · 08/04/2023 21:03

Layne staley over Eddie Vedder for me.

Luther VanDross also had the voice of angel.

I miss George so much.
