Baby Bible Bashers

I have just clicked on the advert on this site about channel 4's cutting edge programme about Baby Bible Bashers. I cannot believe that parents expose there children to this and encourage them. It is a form of child abuse to me. I go to church (not as much as i should) and my children go to a catholic school but would never subject them to such extremism. What hope do these children have of growing up with an openmind and tolerence which is required in ours and the united states multi-cultural society today. Children this age should be just having fun! Does any one share my views? HLx

i don't think its anything to do with religion at all.
they are being racist/homophobic/just plain intollerant.

but they are allowed to conitnue as they hide behind the safety screen of religion. it is a for of extremism.

and yes i agree that children should not be used in such a way. they shouldn't know what abortino is let alone stand outside a centre shouting at young girls!

I saw the advert to this on CH4 last night and couldn't beleive that a childs innocence was being taken away in return for a better platform of preaching.
It's sick.

HLxxx · 14/02/2008 12:21

Your right, they just use religion as a safety screen. The children should not be subject to this, but i guess where do you draw the line on what parents can and cant teach their children. Everyone has the right to bring their child up the way they feel is right, but this is NOT right to me!

It will be an interesting documentary!

I cant wait to watch this at 9pm tonight!!!

BexieID · 14/02/2008 17:45

I'll be watching Ashes to Ashes! Could do with plugging a TV aerial in to record one or the other, but the lead is not long enough!

hertsnessex · 14/02/2008 17:48

thank the lord for sky plus!

VictorianSqualor · 14/02/2008 17:49

I'd imagine the ch4 one will be repeated, either way it'll likely be on the ch4 on demand.

I have no choice, DP wants to 'fire up the quatttro'

frankiemum · 14/02/2008 20:46

im just getting the little one to bed so I can watch this..and prepare to rant. I've just been reading the info on the c4 /cutting edge website . It is no better than a cult for that poor little boy.

clur79 · 14/02/2008 20:52

I will be watching this as well!

southeastastra · 14/02/2008 21:03

they're all bonkers. britney spears and jessica simpson grew up in these sorts of environments i reckon

VictorianSqualor · 14/02/2008 21:05

Britney was trailer trash whose parents forced her into pageants.

southeastastra · 14/02/2008 21:19

that part of america is a bit 'praise the lord' though isn't it.

coastalmum · 14/02/2008 21:30

I am absolutely horrified by what I've seen so far.

We go to church every sunday as a family and involved heavily in our church community. If my kids showed any signs of turning out like those children I would be deeply worried. Brainwashed is an understatement.

nancy75 · 14/02/2008 21:32

wicked wicked parents, terrorising a child at age 3? beating them with god knows what, im not religious in any way but i think before they start preaching to sinners they should have a long hard look at themselves. As for the other kid, do you think jesus sold tshirts with his picture on them - just a cas cow for the parents.

nancy75 · 14/02/2008 21:33

cash cow - so angry i cant type!

southeastastra · 14/02/2008 21:35

they're all nuts in the mid west

coastalmum · 14/02/2008 21:39

They must believe in a different god to me. My god is loving and forgiving. My children know to follow God's teachings, but they're not terrified of God and going to hell.

Flibbertyjibbet · 14/02/2008 21:44

Glad its on channel 4. Till I saw this thread I forgot it was on so will wait till 10pm and watch it on channel 4+1.

I am 45 and went to catholic primary and convent secondary school. We were taught that if we are bad we burn forever in hell. so tis not that long ago really. I never could reconcile that god with the one that is forgiving. Thus I am lapsed.

The god of which they preach isn't the God of the New Testament (ie - post Christ's sacrafice) - it IS the God of the Old testament though who was all about hellfire and damnation....

Their message is not wholly wrong; the way they are delivering it is WHOLLY and utterly wrong.

If you look at the kids, they don't even really understand what they are saying - it is a cleverly prepared script that the "ministry leaders" (their parents) have come up with to shock people on the streets; we get preachers like that in the UK... think of someone standing in a town centre yelling about going to Hell - it happens here but not through kids (which is very wrong IMO - they should wait to preach until they understand and comprehend what they are talking about)

Alambil · 14/02/2008 22:02

oh how ironic that he sings "Amazing Grace" at the end... my dear child it wasn't Grace that taught your heart to fear - it was your OTT bible bashing parents

coastalmum · 14/02/2008 22:03

I can't believe that Samuel's dad put in so much danger in New York. Poor child was terrified.

So shocking.

Cremolafoam · 14/02/2008 22:05

REALLY WANT TO CALL SOCIALSERVICES. AM APPAULED

southeastastra · 14/02/2008 22:05

america is nuts though, it's not news. they are very self obsessed and neurotic.

nancy75 · 14/02/2008 22:06

i agree, think the kids should be taken away, god knows what goes on away from the cameras to make that little boy so scared
