Baby Bible Bashers

I have just clicked on the advert on this site about channel 4's cutting edge programme about Baby Bible Bashers. I cannot believe that parents expose there children to this and encourage them. It is a form of child abuse to me. I go to church (not as much as i should) and my children go to a catholic school but would never subject them to such extremism. What hope do these children have of growing up with an openmind and tolerence which is required in ours and the united states multi-cultural society today. Children this age should be just having fun! Does any one share my views? HLx

me too mummyof!!

VictorianSqualor · 14/02/2008 22:14

I'm just watching it on ch4+1.

How can a seven year old understand the complexities of issues such as abortion? I have a seven year old, who is very understanding but as all seven year olds sees most everything in black and white. It's brainwashing.

mumofdjandp · 14/02/2008 22:16

I actually agree with some of the points raised but Jesus himself was 30 before he entered into his ministry not 3 or 7 or 9 and he didnt need all that parental pushing!

I feel very sorry for those children - what childhood will they have?

Alambil · 14/02/2008 22:22

well that's the whole irony - they aren't preaching God's word; they are acting in order to please and receive praise from their parents.

They certainly won't have a childhood; that much is for sure

mumofdjandp · 14/02/2008 22:24

I know and will they even have a true faith themseleves or ever get the choice to make their own commitment without pressure?

Alambil · 14/02/2008 22:25

who knows ... it's all very, very sad really.

kerala · 14/02/2008 22:29

Wasnt it the Jesuits that said "give me a child until he is 7 and he is mine for life".

You could see that poor little blond boy looking really confused and trying to work it all out. How anyone could think any god would think that is a good idea is bewildering.

mumofdjandp · 14/02/2008 22:32

and he was such a cutie bless him!

Rhubarb · 14/02/2008 22:33

I know the director who did that. David Clews his name is, he did our programme.

He likes meeting weirdos.

mumofdjandp · 14/02/2008 22:36

what program did you do (being nosey)

sushistar · 14/02/2008 22:40

What programme? Are you really a proper wierdo?

Rhubarb · 14/02/2008 22:41

Yeah, he did one about people who had been abducted by aliens. He lived with us for 6 months, filmed our lives and we showed him the scars where we had been operated on and how my dh still gets possessed by aliens every full moon.

sushistar · 14/02/2008 22:46

Wow, a proper live alien abductee!

Rhubarb · 14/02/2008 22:49

I thankyou!

mumofdjandp · 14/02/2008 22:49

I missed this last night, saw it advertised earlier in the week and then forgot it was on. Does anyone know if it is going to be repeated?

rhubarb, you are such a liar. this programme was awful. it made my stomach churn when that little boy cried as her was terrified. also, the 9yr old boys dad obviously wanted to get involved with one of his children when he saw they made money

Kathyis6incheshigh · 15/02/2008 09:50

I liked the irony of how one of the dads had a sandwich board that included 'money lovers' as people who will end up in the burning lake of hell, while another dad was designing merchandise and working out how he could get as much money as possible out of his kid before he grew up....

I'm afraid we were p*ssing ourselves laughing at the thought of how good our 2 year old would be a at preaching - she would quite happily stand in front of a congregation shouting 'You're all going to hell!', I think.... Indeed, quite a lot of toddlers probably would.

Didn't watch it, but saw the ads for it. Looked hideous. I have seen very small children on anti-abortion rallies in the USA. Disgusting people, the parents.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 15/02/2008 09:57

Chequers - yes. The mother was there too though I think....
