How often do you clean your phone? Do you take it with you to the bathroom?

Just wondering really. Long before covid was a thing I would clean my phone, just with a baby wipe, on the days I worked with children as the work was very messy with paints and crafts etc plus lots of kids coughing or sneezing or wanting to hold my hand, and then I'd need to check my phone every now and then. So it felt like it needed a clean.

Over the pandemic I got into the habit of wiping it down every time I got home. I do not think I will get covid from my phone btw, this was early on when things were unclear about fomites, but the habit has stuck.

Having to hold the rail on packed public transport I use frequently, that countless other hands have held, and not everyone is good with handwashing - my phone feels grubby.

I also never bring phone into the bathroom as don't like the idea of that at all. I'd like to be able to listen to music in the bath but seeing as we don't even have a bath in our current flat I'm not missing out! And will maybe get a speaker or something to play music from whenever I finally get the bath of my dreams.

What does everyone else do for phone hygiene?

If you don't take your phone into the bathroom what do you do while having a poo? Read the shampoo bottles? How retro.

Eh? How long does it take you to have a poo?!

Now and again I take off the cover and clean all the skin grime off. I'm always giving the screen a bit of a polish, I can't stand marks on it.
It's so it looks nice rather than any disease prevention.

Clean it once a week or so, or whenever required. Aren't there studies showing phones are dirtier than toilet seats, in terms of bacteria?
Weird that people don't realise this/care.

Phones are filthy things, I use antibacterial wipes on mine. I hate touching other people's phones.

I can't imagine going for a jobby without my phone.

Give it a lick

I can't believe people poo without reading Mumsnet. I'm doing it right now.

I always clean mine after I've been to the office in London. I give the case a wash and wipe the screen. As I'm touching my phone a lot it would feel strange to bring it to bed after I've used it on the tube without cleaning it.

Nothing because you are supposed to wash your hands and not touch your face

I mean I understand if someone doesn’t specifically want to do it but I don’t get people acting fake incredulous that anyone reads on the toilet. It’s really common. You’ll see characters do it in movies, TV, comics, books etc from years and years ago. It’s very common to read on the toilet, so obviously it’s a ‘thing.’
