... to put cat shit through next door's letterbox?

It's in poo bags!

I've just cut some of the grass for the first time, and have picked up 3 lots of cat shit from an area of lawn about 30' x 15'. I know it's from next door's cat, one lot was in the spot where I saw the beast squatting for a leisurely dump this morning, and the other 2 lots are identical in size, shape and consistency, plus their cat is the only one that dares to linger in my garden.

And we never speak, so it's not as though I'd be damaging our relationship, because we don't have one. Mr NDN has never spoken a civil work to me in the 30 years I've lived here.

OP posts:

The man next door is an utter shit, including to his wife.

this thread makes me think that it’s you that’s the “utter shit” OP!

Ursualesther · 04/04/2023 16:17

you would be commuting a time if you shoved cat shot through his door op

Ursualesther · 04/04/2023 16:17

Commuting a crime

LakieLady · 04/04/2023 16:10

Yes, but they were probably nice neighbours.

The man next door is an utter shit, including to his wife.

And presumably his wife also lives there and a bag of shit through her door is exactly what she needs?

ididntwanttodoit · 04/04/2023 16:18

YABU. cats shit wherever they want. owner has no control over this. put down cat pellets (or orange peel, which apparently cats don't like).

LisaD1 · 04/04/2023 16:21

What do you hope to achieve? I’ve just been out to clear up any of our dog shit that we may have missed before mowing the lawn tomorrow. I’m fairly certain I’ve also picked up cat and fox shit but what anyone can do about that I don’t know. I don’t have a cat as I don’t want one but I have no idea how I could expect my neighbours to keep theirs out of my garden and chucking it thru their letterbox is the actions of a moron.

pinkpanther84 · 04/04/2023 16:22

YABU. What do you expect the cats owners to do to stop their cat pooing on your garden? Cats are free to roam outside.

dontgobaconmyheart · 04/04/2023 16:26

I imagine it will be quite obvious who's done it, and they'll potentially (and hopefully) log it as a crime if you do. Not sure what you know about their relationship and his treatment of her or not but if it is as you say I expect it will be her that will be cleaning it up so I wouldn't present it as some sort of heroic protest. Just bin it.

I do get that it's annoying OP, really, since we are in the same boat but I wouldn't dream of doing that. They hardly choose where the cat toilets. Keeping your lawn short makes a difference and take steps to cat proof the garden where you can.

PauliesWalnuts · 04/04/2023 16:26

I also have a trowel that I use specifically for flicking it on to next doors driveway. I’m rural and it’s the only car on the lane so I know it’s hers. Cats send me anaphylactic so I really don’t want any thing to do with them in my garden.

user56912 · 04/04/2023 16:26

FGS a cat poos on your grass and youre seriously suggesting you post it through his letter box or even put it in his lawm. Just pick it up and throw it away. It isn't the neighbour's fault.

If you are genuinely considering doing this you and the other posters who've said you should do it or leave it on his doorstep etc are seriously unbalanced and have anger issues.

It's a cat Cats do poo.

horseyhorsey17 · 04/04/2023 16:30

No, that would be insane. HTH.

cloudsandream · 04/04/2023 16:32

I think people in this thread aren’t realising how fucking irritating it really is. My dads back garden is his pride and joy, and there’s been countless times he’s seen cats dig up his newly planted flowers, pissing on his shed, and shitting on the stone path. One morning the dog went and ate it. It’s disgusting. Would you all agree that it’s perfectly okay for my disabled dad, whose only mental escape is his garden, to be a free for all for shitting cats? I think not. I agree with OP.

WillWillWant · 04/04/2023 16:33

I believe you are supposed to set fire to the bag on his doorstep and ring the bell, he opens the door and stamps on the shit to put the fire out. .....this was an urban myth that went round our housing estate in the 80s

Crazyshihtzulady · 04/04/2023 16:34

You should.

Let us know how it turns out.

myoldmansatrendydustman · 04/04/2023 16:35

Please do not do this OP.

It is "harassment" which is a criminal offence.

You will be caught.

Even if you do it at dead of night there will be someone who will "rat you out" and you will have to deal with the consequences at a Magistrates Court.

Just bag it and bin it and be thankful that is the worst problem your neighbours cause.

Cuwins · 04/04/2023 16:36

I understand it's annoying but what do you want them to do about it? They can't control where the cat goes. If it wasn't cat poo it might be fox poo or another wild animal- not sure who your going to blame then! The lawn at a residential home I worked in was covered in rabbit poo- not exactly anything you can do about it!
Dogs is different they have an owner with them when they are out so the owner knows and absolutely should be picking it up.

PortiasBiscuit · 04/04/2023 16:36

Keep your grass short, they don’t shit in short grass, they like to hide it in long grass.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 04/04/2023 16:37

Oh, it's in poo-bags...

... that's disappointing I thought you were planning on directing the cat's rear end through the letter-box and squeezing gently.

I was going to suggest you wear some stout gauntlets.

Lavenderzen · 04/04/2023 16:38

What a disgusting thing to anticipate doing. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Topsy44 · 04/04/2023 16:39

YABU. That’s a horrible thing to think, let alone do!

Badleg85 · 04/04/2023 16:39

I'd be growing lots of lilies and other plants that will deter it

ittakes2 · 04/04/2023 16:39

Cats poo at least once a day so I am thinking you are lucky there are only three!

It's only in poo bags because the OP has put it into poo bags. I initially read and thought the neighbour had been bagging it and slinging it over the fence to the OP's garden which would be a dreadful thing for the neighbour to be doing. But no, the neighbour simply has a cat who goes outside. Cats poo.

justteanbiscuits · 04/04/2023 16:40

I am your side here - it's bloody disgusting. It's not so bad where we are now, but an old house if mine, the garden was literally just used as a toilet by so many cats. Before it could be used we'd have to spend so long clearing the cat shit out of it. I couldn't even leave downstairs windows open with three different cats deciding they could jump in. I ended up with a massive flea problem in my lounge because of them, and one was an neutered tom that would delightfully spray on my furniture. Nothing I tried would deter them aside from keeping windows and back door closed at all times.

I love cats. And when we had one she was a mainly indoor cat or garden when we were out there. It's not like cats are wild animals - if you own any animal, you should be responsible to ensuring it's not causing issues for other people.
