... to put cat shit through next door's letterbox?

LakieLady · 04/04/2023 15:54

It's in poo bags!

I've just cut some of the grass for the first time, and have picked up 3 lots of cat shit from an area of lawn about 30' x 15'. I know it's from next door's cat, one lot was in the spot where I saw the beast squatting for a leisurely dump this morning, and the other 2 lots are identical in size, shape and consistency, plus their cat is the only one that dares to linger in my garden.

And we never speak, so it's not as though I'd be damaging our relationship, because we don't have one. Mr NDN has never spoken a civil work to me in the 30 years I've lived here.

I just use my trowel to chuck it over the fence for them to dispose of. Don't give it a second thought really, I just don't have the wherewithal to be dealing with the faeces of another person's pet.

That sounds entirely reasonable.
Putting shit through other people’s letterboxes could escalate very fast.
Get a beach spade and scoop and flick it ocer the fence.

Sairk · 04/04/2023 18:03

@ArDi Jesus Christ what a bunch of pricks you both are. It's abuse of animal and it's illegal. Cunts.

Luckydip1 · 04/04/2023 18:03

Just fling it over the garden fence, and put down some cat repellant in your garden. Never worth having a battle with your neighbours.

Mrsfussypants1 · 04/04/2023 18:05

All the dogs in the neighbour hood use our fence as a piss post, it bloody stinks today in the warm sun (end house just before a lovely green area).
I'd love to collect it and post it back!

Ok so a good couple of years back my mum who lives in a block of flats had a neighbours with a cat. I guess they never let the cat go out, only on the balcony. And as both balconies were together but separated with a wall, the cat used to come and shit all over my mums balcony. Constantly all the time.
Mum went to talk to them (politely!! ), couple of times but nothing changed and the shit was still all over the floor and whatever else was there.
Until my mum had enough. She peeked over and saw that neighbours had a fresh washing of sheets hanging.
YES. She picked up the shit and threw on the sheets. Multiple times, multiple shits.

Trust me, after that, there was no cat and no shit to be seen as long as they continued to live there.
Sometimes you just have to do something like this for them to listen.

Pubesofsoberness · 04/04/2023 18:05

Bloody hell, some people are so angry 🤣 just stick it in the bin and get one 9f those high frequency noise things fir in the garden. Most cats hate them

Thesharkradar · 04/04/2023 18:07

The man next door is an utter shit, including to his wife
Come on @LakieLady ..... imagine the vengeance a person like that would wreak upon you if you put excrement through thier letter box?
I get why you want to but it wont go well for you, dont do it, get a better strategy
(Can you throw water over the animal to put it off instead?)

nomoremerlot · 04/04/2023 18:08

Yeah it's a great idea, I cannot think of a single thing that could go wrong with that!

tolerable · 04/04/2023 18:10

Are you actual nancy drew of cat poo?how can you be absolutely certain-u only saw(creepily watched?? a cat shit)once.
What reaction are you aiming for?

LessonsInPhysics · 04/04/2023 18:11

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 04/04/2023 16:51

Good thinking. Take the piss too. Hard to collect but you could maybe use some guttering to get it through their letterbox.

😂

Salome61 · 04/04/2023 18:11

My cat died aged 17 last August, then my dog aged 14 in October. For the first time in my life I've had rats in the garden this January - and they'd burrowed under my shed to nest as well.

Poo or not, I'd be glad to have a cat in my garden, they do deter the rats.

GangnamGran · 04/04/2023 18:13

YABU - as bears poo in the woods, cats poo in the garden. Here’s a thought - rescue a cat from a shelter, then neither cat will poo in your garden. I don’t know why everyone doesn’t have a cat already, life is better with at least one cat.
I had a lovely neighbour who fixated on cat poo in a common alleyway, it made me think he was quite a bellend which was a shame as he was otherwise a good neighbour. There are about 10+ cats in our street, why he blamed my cats I don’t know (tho it did stop when one of my cats passed away 🤷‍♀️). Their child shat on my new lawn on one occasion so you could always exact revenge in a similar way?
Had my neighbour posted the offending items through my letterbox, depending on my state of mind, it could have ended very badly indeed as I’ve got a terrible delinquent streak sometimes.
slugs love to eat cat poo so you could gather the slimy fellows up and place them upon the offending poo then everyone is a winner 🏆

I think people in this thread aren’t realising how fucking irritating it really is. My dads back garden is his pride and joy, and there’s been countless times he’s seen cats dig up his newly planted flowers, pissing on his shed, and shitting on the stone path. One morning the dog went and ate it. It’s disgusting. Would you all agree that it’s perfectly okay for my disabled dad, whose only mental escape is his garden, to be a free for all for shitting cats? I think not. I agree with OP.

For some reason cat shit is delectable to dogs.
Routine worming is essential.

PoopInYourBin · 04/04/2023 18:15

I don’t think I’ll ever understand the contrary nature of MN. I put a bagged poo in a wheelie bin and got annihilated yet the OP suggests putting poo through a letterbox and some people are condoning it.

Timesawastin · 04/04/2023 18:15

Nimbostratus100 · 04/04/2023 16:00

Its a garden, animals will poo in it, the cat will be holding off the rats and foxes

Really? I get cats AND rats.

Dibbydoos · 04/04/2023 18:16

I don't think posting it in their letterbox is a good idea, mind. Who knows what tge repercussion would be....

I used to flick them through it into next door garden - they were always like rock, lol. Our kids were small and it used to piss me off. Shame we didn't get a dog until the kids were much older.

The neighbours attached to them on the other side got one of those scarers but it really frightened the cat so they were politely asked to switch it off but as they don't talk to you, that could be an option, though I wouldn't get one if your houses are attached.

So true!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 04/04/2023 16:37

Oh, it's in poo-bags...

... that's disappointing I thought you were planning on directing the cat's rear end through the letter-box and squeezing gently.

I was going to suggest you wear some stout gauntlets.

😂😂😂

Timesawastin · 04/04/2023 18:19

@GangnamGran
Don't be ridiculous. I'm violently allergic to cats and I hate them. How in hell would my life be improved?
#2357 on the '"cat lovers" are all batshit' evidence sheet

Cats are very good judges of character, if you hate them, they will know and hate you right back. I distrust people that hate cats, for the record.

Pubesofsoberness · 04/04/2023 18:25

No normal person puts cat shit through someone's letter box

My neighbours put plastic spikes on the fencing to try and keep cats from sitting in the garden

Was speaking to them the other week and apparently it doesn't deter the shitting cat . Who it turns out they thought was one of mine, it isnt it belongs to the people across the road. Mine don't go in there

CantGetDecentNickname · 04/04/2023 18:28

Cats don't hold off foxes and their mess is worse. They'll catch mice, but rarely go for rats.

I do understand you feeling like you do OP, but am sure you won't actually do that! Shovelling it up and popping it back over the fence is better since it is only then in another garden (which lots of people on this thread this is fine).

Cat poo is toxic especially if you are pregnant. Sadly many kittens are taken away from their Mums too early and don't learn to dig a hole and bury it, so they do it in the grass or gravel instead. Sonic repellers and anything with citronella oil in it will deter them but one takes batteries and the other has to be replaced every time it rains. A sprinkler aimed at their favourite spot could help as can a large water pistol. Alternatively, invite a friend round with a dog and let it mark all round the garden.
