Please help me bear my delayed flight

Is there anything worse than a delayed flight. I'm flying from Dublin to Bristol.

After checking in, I walked the very, very long walkway in Dublin airport to get to my gate. It's a very long walkway to get there. I feel like walking from one end of my town to the other end is quicker than walking from one end of Dublin airport to the other end. When I arrived at my gate it said that the flight is delayed by 2 hours. And now someone has said that it might be delayed longer

I had to walk the very very long way back to the café area, (seriously Dublin airport is massive, ) to get back to a cafe to sit down and have a coffee.

I am coming over to the UK for a job interview and I had given myself time to have a look around the city, the day before my interview. Now I'll be rushed and have very little time to look around the city when I get there.

Surely it should be easier than this to get from Ireland to England. I just feel so annoyed. I hate flight delays. How do you deal with the annoyance when it happens

Not sure why you're getting so many shit responses OP, I'm sure most people in the real world would be pissed off to be delayed in your circumstances. I know I would.

Hope you get away soon

I can guarantee you that a two or three hour delay for a fight wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I don't know about 'most people in the real world', but I'm used to much longer delays (flying a day later, for example, or having to go by overnight ferry instead) on a semi-regular basis.

Two or three hours is a minor inconvenience.

In your job interview, talk about this as an example of a time you overcame great day

Jesus I was absolutely wrecked tired by the time I got to Bristol. Bristol is a nice city though.

You would class this situation as facing great adversity? I hope this post is a joke...

Glad you're enjoying Bristol OP. Good luck at the interview!

I can imagine, sitting down for an extra two hours......so tiring.

Congratulations - worth all the hassle. I used to live in Bristol and family still there. It’s a great city😊

heldinadream · 09/04/2023 12:08

Oh well done! Have a fabulous time moving to and living in Bristol- such a vibrant and diverse place.

BitOutOfPractice · 09/04/2023 12:16

Well done op! 🎉

in my opinion, there is no irritation more likely to irritate more irritatingly than a minor irritation. So I totally get your delay gripe.

'Is there anything worse than a delayed flight?'

Well yeah OP, I can think of a few things.

So can I….
15 hours on a ferry that’s broken down in the middle of the Channel in very rough weather (never vomited so much in my life…)
Circling over London in very turbulent weather using up fuel for 40 minutes whilst wishing I could die (I’m terribly travel sick and hate turbulence)
7 hours delay taking off from Madrid airport, late at night with absolutely nothing open so no food, drink etc.

Are you a cuclchie, you present as someone who is up for the day.

Such fuss and nonsense over a flight delay.🙄

Devoutspoken · 09/04/2023 12:41

Read a book, listen to a podcast, have a chill

Ah the flight delay was days ago. Keep up ! I just updated the thread to say that I got the job.

Culchie is such a laughable term. It is the therm that Dubliners use for anyone that lives outside Dublin. To describe those that don't live in Dublin as inferior to those that do.

Sorry, do you expect everyone in Ireland to live in Dublin? That would be bizarre wouldn't it.
