School ski trip cancelled due to chaos in Dover - fuck the tories

1000 replies

TheColourofspring · 02/04/2023 10:57

My 15 year old son has just spent 17 hours in a coach in dover waiting to go on a much anticipated ski trip. It’s cost us over £1500 over a year and we hoped, given everything our kids lost over covid, it would be a positive experience.

The school just notified us to say that now- due to health and safety, drivers hours etc- the trip needs to be cancelled and the kids are on their way back from dover.

Absolutely FUCK the lying Tory cunts - they ruin everything. They try and blame the French yet all of this lies at their door. Fuck them all for ruining 100 kids trip (and probably thousands more) and ruining everything they touch with their stinking corrupt lies and their lies about brexit.

My son was in tears.

Do you think it is impossible? Increasingly people with one particular mindset runs every institution in our country. At what point does democracy become an inconvenience to be put aside. I think that the radical left could absolutely establish a dictatorship over the UK in the coming decades. You disagree?

I think any person/group given absolute power would become corrupt, I see that as part of the human condition.
I like to think we have enough checks and balances to stop us going down that path but as citizens we have to always be vigilant, hold them to account/feet to the fire, shine a light on all they do.

Has it escaped your notice that Abbott isn't in the shadow Cabinet and Corbyn will not be fighting the next election as a Labour candidate?

Your posts are both ill informed and xenophobic.

Why are they xenophobic? What did I write that led you to this big brain conclusion?

Notonthestairs · 02/04/2023 17:40

Brexit is done now, it’s happened, we kind of need to move on.

As a country we are in a bad way at the moment…. but I dread to think what that would be like under a labour government with their magic money tree.

Because everything is running really well at the moment isn't it?
The Conservatives were happy to knock 4% off GDP and voted in Truss - don't pretend they are the party of fiscal responsibility.

Now their flagship policy - Get Brexit Dine - has turned out so badly they need to share the "success" by blaming Corbyn for it.

Bit like your comment, I'm pretty glad I voted brexit if people like you suffer blaming all your woes on it and the conservatives.

People like me made the most of it so if you didn't only yourself to blame. 😁

Do tell, what exactly have you made the most of as a result of Brexit?

@ThunderDad any chance of you answering which party the Director General and Chairman of the BBC have close links with?

Anyone in the queue who voted for
Brexit should voluntarily leave the line to reduce the waiting time for everyone else. They said Brexit was a price worth paying, they should do the honourable thing and pay it.

Is Brexit the reason there aren't large numbers of unemployed passport control officers living on benefits in Dover ready to work for 3 days a year in the Easter holidays and a benefit cut in return?

I liked to think so too but I increasingly think that the radical left are becoming unstoppable. Which is not to say that a far-right dictatorship is impossible either, but at the moment the winds are blowing the ship over in the other direction. I believe we are in a precarious state. Also the language coming from the radical left seems to me to be far more vicious and intolerant than that coming from conservative (small c) voices. I wouldn't put anything past them.

I'm not the only poster who's identified your posts as xenophobic. If you can't see why, I don't think I'm going to waste my time trying to explain it to you.

Because that’s the easy argument to blame everything on being xenophobic etc

Fifi1010 · 02/04/2023 15:53

If it was £1500 per child why aren't the school insisting on flights ? It's quicker.

Because that would make it much more expensive. Remember, the money is not just paying for travel, it's paying for staff and staff fares and accommodation, the children's accommodation and all their food, ski passes and various other expenses as well.

itsgettingweird · 02/04/2023 17:44

Those leavers who voted for it for that reason must be sorely disappointed

They are.

Braverman is my MP.

Her Fb page is full of responses to everything of

"Have you stopped the illegals yet?"

Even when she posts about something (like the other day to do with water).

The Tories are losing their centric voters due to their right wing tactics and yet aren't right wing enough for that part of their electorate.

Scyla · 02/04/2023 17:45

Any thing that isn't automatically deferential to left wing hobby horses is called xenophobia.

So your argument is that the voice of the crowd equates to the truth. Do spend the time you save on something productive.

jgw1 · 02/04/2023 17:47

and yet aren't right wing enough for that part of their electorate.

Indeed there as been a prime example on here. A poster suggesting that the government is trying to establish a left wing dictatorship.

The answer wouldn't fit his narrative.

Emma2023 · 02/04/2023 17:48

So sorry for your son, that’s so unbelievably shit for him, I totally agree we can blame this shitty lying thieving government for absolutely everything.

Endlesssummer2022 · 02/04/2023 17:50

Sunak appeared to be coming around to the idea that Brexit is bullshit based on his comments saying Northern Ireland had the best deal with the best of both worlds (which is what we used to have).

Can’t fucking stand this current iteration of Tory but Sunak would be playing an absolute blinder of a pincer movement if he declared a reversal of Brexit before the next election.

Starmer’s become a born again Brexiteer beholden to red wall focus groups and appears happy to drive the country off a cliff based on their deluded say so. Sunak would keep the blue wall and any red wallers who have put 2 and 2 together and woken up from the Brexit fantasy.

Just a question for you all. When you consider the people who shout 'F the Tories' and who are vociferously bigoted against those who disagree with their weird left-wing opinions. What do you think they would do if they were held power? And I mean real power.

Do you think they would hesitate to set up camps and torture those who had voted for the Tories. Or even those who had spoken favourably about Tories once? Do you think they would hold back from torturing or exterminating landlords or those with wealth, as Chairman Mao's followers did?

Socialists are bad people. I wouldn't trust someone who writes 'F the Tories', 'Tories are scum' or anything similar. I think they are probably sadists in waiting. And I say this as someone who is not at all a fan of the Tories or Labour for that matter.

The fact you call them weird left wing opinions shows you aren't writing your post with non bias.

I'm actually a centric voter and swing right and left on a variety of different views.

I voted remain but was in the camp of get brexit done when we'd had referendum.

But I don't think it's been done well. At all. The government have lied and dig deeper holes by lying more. They care only about those with wealth who can make more personal wealth and look down on those who don't have the ability to make the initial wealth - which is directly due to their policies.

But I find this current government abhorrent in their xenophobic rhetoric and the use of language re "Illegals" etc.

You can control immigration, we could have stayed on the single market and many other things. Things that didn't involve making us financially poorer, removing a large proportion of our useful tax paying public service workers and blaming it all on small boats which have increased under their tenure the past few years.

This current government have no respect for the electorate - and sadly those that do are drowned out by the ERG and their right wing propaganda.

And it doesn't matter what Corbyn may or may not have done. He is no longer part of the Labour Party.

ThunderDad · 02/04/2023 17:22

What is to stop them eventually attaining such power? If they had such power then the rapid left would be monsters on the same scale as the socialists of the USSR, CCP etc. They run the BBC, increasingly they run our schools, our universities. We should be careful.

The rapid left? Do you mean they can run fast?

Scyla · 02/04/2023 17:57

If this is the standard of left wing debate I think the Tories are safe.

Possibly this!

If we deported everyone who is here illegally / pretending to be a refugee then there would be homes for everyone, perhaps even at a price that normal people can afford

How would you define "normal people"? It's and interesting choice of words.

Where is this radical left party? We have the Tory party, which is basically UKIP and Labour which is more like Tory with a tinge of red these days.

I'm sure the children will be disappointed however this kind of thing (as with Covid) probably is a huge learning curve which they would not have had otherwise. They will realise that things don't always go to plan. They will learn to be resilient (hopefully).

@Scyla Can I just check, do you too think it is left wing to expect the Prime Minister and Cabinet to not break the law?
