School ski trip cancelled due to chaos in Dover - fuck the tories

1000 replies

TheColourofspring · 02/04/2023 10:57

My 15 year old son has just spent 17 hours in a coach in dover waiting to go on a much anticipated ski trip. It’s cost us over £1500 over a year and we hoped, given everything our kids lost over covid, it would be a positive experience.

The school just notified us to say that now- due to health and safety, drivers hours etc- the trip needs to be cancelled and the kids are on their way back from dover.

Absolutely FUCK the lying Tory cunts - they ruin everything. They try and blame the French yet all of this lies at their door. Fuck them all for ruining 100 kids trip (and probably thousands more) and ruining everything they touch with their stinking corrupt lies and their lies about brexit.

My son was in tears.

We've gone from a cancelled ski trip to concentration camps. Amazing. Not unhinged at all. Oh no. Totally fine.

Are we disucssing the Tory government's latest proposals for asylum seekers now?

TheColourofspring · 02/04/2023 11:37

@TomatoFrog bollocks. It lies entirely at the tories feet - Brexit it an unmitigated disaster. It was the tories that insisted that every passport had to be stamped.

Zzzzzz.

If you are referring to migration across the English Channel, that is because the French are consistently refusing to take control of our border. Why are they so keen on letting so many people cross the Channel?

It's not up to the French to control British border, ffs.

If we were still in the EU, we'd be able to send asylum seekers back to France under the Dublin agreement, but we lost that right when we left. "Taking back control" of our borders was just another big, fat Brexit lie.

ThunderDad · 02/04/2023 17:22

Thesharkradar · 02/04/2023 17:17

And I mean real power
do you mean something like 'absolute power' @ThunderDad ?
If so, well, that's easy, power corrupts, absolute power = absolute corruption.
But then we'd be in a dictatorship wouldn't we!

What is to stop them eventually attaining such power? If they had such power then the rapid left would be monsters on the same scale as the socialists of the USSR, CCP etc. They run the BBC, increasingly they run our schools, our universities. We should be careful.

Rosula · 02/04/2023 17:22

🙄 the public wanted a referendum, the government gave the public a referendum, the public voted for Brexit. That’s called democracy, like the outcome or not.

Yet more than 63% of the electorate voted against the party offering the referendum. And you can bet that a substantial proportion of that 63% didn't want a referendum either because it was a very wide-ranging manifesto. So you can't actually claim that the public did want a referendum. And only 36% of the public actually voted for Brexit.

ssd · 02/04/2023 17:23

It's not democracy.

Not in Scotland.

Still the result was Brexit won remain lost. Slightly under that actually voted for remain.

You have noticed that there had been six years of Tory government before the referendum, haven't you?

We don't have 2% of Albania's young single males here. You've made the mistake of believing what the Mail tells you, haven't you?

I wish I knew what was wrong with doing good. Is it better to do bad?

@Rosula I repeat, rhe damage had already been done in terms of population expansion and laws etc slowly changed to support immigration before the 2010 election.

It was actually a statistics search that gave me my stats, not the Mail. I don't understand your last point I'm afraid. Have you been drinking?

I'm not a fan of the Tories either. They are basically the same as Labour. Tories have somewhat more competent people (and no Dianne Abbot) but in some ways this makes them more dangerous. The idea that Labour somehow are the antidote to the Tories is beyond stupid. Unless we get a completely new government (which would entail, among other things, sacking most of the civil service) we are beyond screwed. Labour can't save you. Corbyn can't save you. Socialism definitely won't save you. In fact socialists are the most evil people in history with a body count of around 150 million in the last century. If there is anyone who can save us it is a leader who understands the evils of socialism, the extent to which it has already rotted our country and someone willing to drive a stake through its putrid heart.

Has it escaped your notice that Abbott isn't in the shadow Cabinet and Corbyn will not be fighting the next election as a Labour candidate?

Your posts are both ill informed and xenophobic.

TheSnootiestFox · 02/04/2023 14:55

This, @myoldmansatrendydustman, is the most sensible post in this entire conversation. But it's far easier to blame the Tories.

Except for the inconvenient fact that the ferry companies themselves don't claim this is the cause of the problem. They can't load the coaches on because the coaches are queuing to get through the controls.

You know we are paying the French half a billion pounds to control our borders?
Couldn't we spend that money on a bus with a wrap about the NHS on it instead?

@ThunderDad are you saying that the BBC Chairman and Director General are communists? Presumably they make donations and have stood for public office on Communist party tickets?

OP said she'd been saving for a year to afford this. How do you suggest she magic up the money overnight for at least two more fares, hotel costs, ski passes etc? And why should she have to?

Remind me which party it was that set up the Brexit vote?

Well that’s a fair point.
But it doesn’t excuse those who voted for it

There are people that don't intend on blaming Brexit on anyone.

Any thoughts on the German motor industry stopping the EU petrol engine ban last week?

The EU has always been a German car manufacturer cartel. It's still the same.

But holidays!

Anyone in the queue who voted for
Brexit should voluntarily leave the line to reduce the waiting time for everyone else. They said Brexit was a price worth paying, they should do the honourable thing and pay it.

Thesharkradar · 02/04/2023 17:25

do you think the UK is at risk of becoming a dictatorship?

Do you think it is impossible? Increasingly people with one particular mindset runs every institution in our country. At what point does democracy become an inconvenience to be put aside. I think that the radical left could absolutely establish a dictatorship over the UK in the coming decades. You disagree?

Abcdef12 · 02/04/2023 17:37

Brexit is done now, it’s happened, we kind of need to move on.

As a country we are in a bad way at the moment…. but I dread to think what that would be like under a labour government with their magic money tree.

Lancasterel · 02/04/2023 17:39

Yup. Entirely the fault of Brexit which Boris only supported to further his own career. Disaster and I hate it. Hope your son is ok.
