School ski trip cancelled due to chaos in Dover - fuck the tories

1000 replies

TheColourofspring · 02/04/2023 10:57

My 15 year old son has just spent 17 hours in a coach in dover waiting to go on a much anticipated ski trip. It’s cost us over £1500 over a year and we hoped, given everything our kids lost over covid, it would be a positive experience.

The school just notified us to say that now- due to health and safety, drivers hours etc- the trip needs to be cancelled and the kids are on their way back from dover.

Absolutely FUCK the lying Tory cunts - they ruin everything. They try and blame the French yet all of this lies at their door. Fuck them all for ruining 100 kids trip (and probably thousands more) and ruining everything they touch with their stinking corrupt lies and their lies about brexit.

My son was in tears.

Nigel Farage can hold his head high in Moscow. He definitely delivered for his handlers.

MsJD · 02/04/2023 13:20

I am looking forward to getting a passport with a pretty harp on the outside. 😀

TheColourofspring · 02/04/2023 11:40

@PinkiOcelot school have said they will try everything to get money back. 100 kids, 1500 each, feel sorry for the ski company too!

Hopefully you get it back. Never mind though there's some dry slopes you could try in UK?

Myneighbourskia · 02/04/2023 13:21

The EU are following protocol and doing exactly what Britain asked for. Ridiculous blaming the French. No delays coming out of Rosslare to France or other EU ports.

They did the Brexit referendum.

They lied about what it would mean.

They didn't expand Do er enough and work with the French enough to ensure there's enough port/ border staff to prevent this.

It's all at their door.

The only thing I hope is that soon people will stop travelling and the cost of tourism to the EU will drastically improve things because it affects both parties. (Not that I advocate for financial disaster for any country)

suburbophobe · 02/04/2023 13:23

The main factor here was French inefficiency.

Bullshit. I live in EU and if I want to go to France there are no border or passport controls AT ALL!! Whether I drive, train or fly.

So sorry OP for your son and everyone else affected by it. It's shit.

Hull - Zeebrugge? Probably booked full already.

Oh My God Reaction GIF

Me finding out that that Daily Mail is laying into the French

Hawkins003 · 02/04/2023 13:23

IAmTheWalrus85 · 02/04/2023 13:17

Gosh, really? An article in the Daily Mail suggests it’s the fault of the French? It must be true, they couldn’t possibly have any bias or agenda!

But then if you take a French source the same bias is there so unless you have boots on the ground then it's basically French says or Britian says ect

NetZeroZealot · 02/04/2023 13:24

Yup.

They have fucked our kids' futures with Brexit.

And they are fucking them some more with their lack of action on climate change.

EyesOnThePies · 02/04/2023 13:25

OP, I am so so sorry.

Your poor son and his mates.

Dreadful.

Many many coach parties caught up in this 😡😢

NetZeroZealot · 02/04/2023 13:24

Since the public wanted and was given the vote, surly part of it all is due to the public's wishes?

Celeriacsoup · 02/04/2023 13:26

Hbh17 · 02/04/2023 13:12

So the fact that the French are making a mess of things too isn't considered? If we're blaming Governments, there are two in the frame here!

FFS! ! We voted to opt out of any reciprocality over borders by leaving the EU! How difficult is this to understand?

DietrichandDiMaggio · 02/04/2023 13:26

Itsbytheby · 02/04/2023 12:45

It's Brexit, not the Tories. Blame the people who voted for Brexit.

David Cameron agreed to the referendum to keep Tories happy, it wouldn't have happened under a non-Tory government.

Hawkins003 · 02/04/2023 13:23

The French are doing their job by checking and stamping each UK passport as required. Because sovereinigty, taking back control etc.

MsJD · 02/04/2023 13:27

If something isnt done about climate change, there won't be skiing for anyone.😟

itsgettingweird · 02/04/2023 13:27

Walkingtheplank · 02/04/2023 12:04

What an entitled titled thread.

A ski trip (which most people can't afford) cancelled and its blamed on the Tories.

Could it be this level of being out of touch that caused so many non-Tory voters to vote for Brexit?

For the avoidance of doubt, I voted Remain but I accept that the majority of those who voted wanted to Leave because that's democracy.

Yes it's democracy.

Roughly the country was split halfway.

But there is so many who voted leave who regret it because of the lies and project fear.

I would be interested to see what the result would be if we voted knowing the actual truth.

Jiggery · 02/04/2023 13:27

hellesbells · 02/04/2023 13:19

This is hilarious, this shit show is a direct result of this government and Brexit

The government agreed to give us a vote.

The country voted for Brexit.

If people were too dim to realise that a lot of the 'advantages of Brexit' were lies, that's their fault.

Reap what you sow.

NetZeroZealot · 02/04/2023 13:28

Since the public wanted and was given the vote, surly part of it all is due to the public's wishes?

No, it was Cameron's fault for holding the referendum because he was a weak leader and could not keep his party in line.

And Boris' fault for all the lies he told especially on that stupid bus.

Spottycarousel · 02/04/2023 13:28

I'm so sad for your son for losing out. He must be absolutely devastated.

And yes, a Tory disaster.

IsThePopeCatholic · 02/04/2023 13:29

The next General Election can’t come quickly enough. Unfortunately, people are still saying Starmer is ‘weak’. Well we’ve seen where macho politics gets us: up shit creek.

Yes it's always party before country with the Tories.

They didn't even have to honour the referendum. It wasn't binding. They just chose to keep chugging down that doomed path because their party would have imploded if they didn't.

"But at the same time the article in the daily mail does suggest it's the French side that's caused the delay"
😂
Sorry but this made me laugh out loud. Would this be the Daily Fail that is notoriously pro Tory and has been known to print the odd porky or two in true Tory fashion?

Starmer has no personality or stamina. I'm a long term Labour supporter but I have no faith in him sadly.

JocelynBurnell · 02/04/2023 13:31

But at the same time the article in the daily mail does suggest it's the French side that's caused the delay

So, The Daily Mail blame the French?

Well, who saw that coming?

In the words of Mandy Rice Davies - "they would, wouldn’t they?"
