We are going away all inclusive for a week.

What have I forgotten?

Wow. Don't think I have ever had such a popular thread. Thank you!

pajamas. towel (not an issue for all inclusive).

MMMarmite · 01/04/2023 23:38

I'm a very disorganised person, but I don't understand how people can forget pants! Underwear is the first thing I pack :D

(Touch wood that I haven't jinxed my next trip)

WhatFreshHeckle · 01/04/2023 23:38

Hairbrush
DC's coat (but you won't need it if you're off somewhere sunny)

LovelyDayz · 01/04/2023 23:55

Scissors. Always end up buying something on holiday that could use scissors to open it so you don't end up picking it open with nail clippers or in dh's style - a key.

Also main one for me is any medicines. Most other things you can get hold of or manage without.

Doormatnomore · 01/04/2023 23:59

Great thread. We are also off tomorrow and I feel organised, which experience tells me is a sign I’ve forgotten something important. Delighted to learn other people have forgotten shoes, pants and swimwear.

mycatsanutter · 02/04/2023 09:14

My dad has gone on holiday twice with just the clothes he travelled in . First time he presumed they only had one case and his wife had put his clothes in it , they get to the airport and she asks where the second case is , the one with his stuff in . Second time they were travelling with one between them and she took his. clothes out to put hers in except she never put his back in ! They are both dopey as hell

I have a holiday list so I tend not to forget stuff now. However, over the years we have forgotten:

The spending money (US$, left at home)
Tickets for a show (left in villa, had to return for them)
Teabags (we had 1 box but not the second)
DH's boxers (he hand washed the pair he'd been wearing daily, tried to buy more but apparently Cretan blokes go commando)
My dresses (once)

I amend my list every year with notes on what didn't work and important stuff like one of our cases is damaged, get another; took too many undies and not enough swimwear; bring more than one pair of sandals...

It also has additional notes (on page 2 Blush) of the dates our passports run out and the maximum dimensions of Ryanair cabin bags and where I stashed the sunglasses or how many bottles of sunscreen to take. I do need this level of organisation or I would flounder without a doubt!

Noodles -you sound like my kind of person! I have excel sheets with packing lists for each type of holiday. I update them when I get back. They save so much stress!

TheBirdintheCave · 02/04/2023 09:54

Travel plugs are the things I'm most likely to forget. I have a saved list on my phone now though with check boxes that I can tick off before every holiday :)

illiterato · 02/04/2023 09:55

Contact Lenses. Had to have them DHL’d to a Japanese ski resort at great personal expense. Not good.

Smogtopia · 02/04/2023 10:00

Eye mask for sleeping (can't sleep without it)
Cotton buds
Nail clippers
Cosy socks to wear in the apartment to avoid the slightly gritty sandy tiles after a long day on the beach
Cardigan for walking home at night

Vicliz24 · 02/04/2023 10:02

I've twice forgotten my knickers 😂 I now have a very comprehensive list which is updated and amended every year . Hand washing every night isn't fun .

PotKettel · 02/04/2023 10:04

Swimming goggles
imodium
Insect bite cream

mynameiscalypso · 02/04/2023 10:05

I've forgotten my hair straighteners on three occasions. I now have spare pairs with UK, EU and US plugs from various supermarket purchases on my first day.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 02/04/2023 10:14

We went to the Czech Rep. for a wedding - I had forgotten to pack any knickers!

I’ve never been so pleased in my life to see an M&S - first morning after we’d arrived, in Wenceslas Square.

gogohmm · 02/04/2023 10:14

Ai?

Passport, credit card, done!

Ok in reality I'm taking in two weeks swimwear, flip flops, beach towel (never sure what hotels provide), a few dresses, cycling shorts for under them to avoid the chub rub, underwear, cardigan, umbrella, raincoat, sunscreen, shampoo and conditioner because they never provide decent these days, a little make up, little bag for phone etc at night, fold up canvas bag to use for the beach (saves space) power pack for phone as battery is rubbish, charger for phone, headphones, book and puzzle book (turning into my mother Grin)

Ok that's my packing list sorted, screen shorted itSmile

massivenamechnage · 02/04/2023 10:34

Most of the stuff people are saying that they forget are items that I wouldn't even dream of taking

I travel a lot. I have 2 sets of toiletry bags (everything travel size or decanted) which I always take and I pick up one and dump the other. Tech bag with Laptop, phone, Bose headphones and world-wide chargers. Packing cubes with 3, 7 10 days underwear and sleepwear etc. These are not used at home- so washed and replenished into cubes

I can do 10 days on hand luggage (albeit in business where they are generally more lax)

Hotels have most things if you forget anything.
