To think my friends aren’t coming?

Arranged earlier in the week for a catch up round mine which is a rarity as my DH is away- both friends agreed to come.
This morning at 9am, put a message in the group chat asking what time they were coming so I can make sure my house is tidy, make sure baby is asleep etc and neither have them have replied or even opened the message.
They are the kind of people who have theirs phones with them 24/7 so can’t imagine they’ve not looked at their phones for 8hrs.
I don’t mind but I guess I just want to know either way.. and I’ve bought drinks and snacks. I’d feel embarrassed to put a chase message in the group chat.
They aren’t coming are they?

If one of my pals phoned me, I’d assume someone had died.

Just message and say 'hey my queens, looking forward to seeing you all later'.

Don't do that. Just give them an actual call

JKTrolling · 01/04/2023 18:02

I’d be annoyed too. Considering you know they have their phone with them at all times it’s bad form. A simple message to say they have changed their mind or made other plans would be preferred to silence.

“Howdy hepcats, can’t wait to get our groove on after sevenoroonee on the clockette”

1FootInTheRave · 01/04/2023 18:05

You posted just after 5 but they aren't due til 7 onwards.

Unless they have form I'd presume they were still coming.

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 01/04/2023 18:06

Follow up with a wine's in the fridge -see you soon

WestwardHo1 · 01/04/2023 18:06

When did "the phone call" die? People are scared to make a work call now, let alone phone their friends for a chat. DSS aged 19 refused to call the Chinese to place an order, as he "doesn't like confrontation". WTF? Just call them!

MrsMiddleMother · 01/04/2023 18:12

I'd assume they were coming after 7 op... but you can always give them a ring to check. Honestly think grown ups who don't call are childish

PriamFarrl · 01/04/2023 18:13

I’d send another message. (I wouldn’t phone, I don’t think I’ve ever actually phoned my friends).

I really don’t get the drama about the phone either. If I can't talk, I don’t pick up.

Summerslimtime · 01/04/2023 18:17

Now I have to wait and see if they turn up...

daisy1765 · 01/04/2023 18:18

send a text saying you're looking forward to seeing them tonight

marmitegirl01 · 01/04/2023 18:19

OP. You have to let us know 🤷‍♀️

OldTinHat · 01/04/2023 18:19

If you said 7pm or thereabouts, I'd send a pic of the drinks, glasses and snacks now with a message saying 'really looking forward to seeing you later!'

PinkiOcelot · 01/04/2023 18:20

I would presume they were coming after 7 but if it were me I would still have replied to your message this morning.

I don’t think I’ve ever spoken to friend on the phone 🤣 only the old people phone me!

iI’d have expected a message by now though.

MrsDoylesDoily · 01/04/2023 18:23

I can't believe how many people on this thread would rather sit and wonder, than phone their friends??

How do you all manage your telephone aversions at work? 😳

704703hey · 01/04/2023 18:23

It sounds like a casual arrangement so I would assume around 7pm, don't worry

memyselfi · 01/04/2023 18:25

Honestly the only person I can chat to comfortably on the phone is my dh.
I've lost that skill somehow.
So I wouldn't call them either.
I don't think I'd text again either, they need to reply to your question .
It's so weird they are both not replying.

Crinkle77 · 01/04/2023 18:26

Hope they come. If they ding they are twats for not letting you know. I'd have to say something if they don't especially as you've bought food and drink.

Dotcheck · 01/04/2023 18:26

Well now I gotta know how this ends

Are Smashey and Nicey coming round? Grin (showing my age!)

Aylestone · 01/04/2023 18:28

I’d do the picture thing. It’s a bit pass agg but I don’t think it’s a bad thing then feeling a bit shit for letting you down after the time, effort and expense you’ve gone through. Especially when you’ve got a baby and you STILL don’t know whether they’re coming or not

Just message and say 'hey my queens...."

Or don't

😆
