Toothpaste - own brand??

firsttimemxm · 31/03/2023 12:37

Hi i’m currently using colgate one for my dd - she is 33m and complaining that its too ‘spicy’ 😂 looking at boots own brand as it has a mild mint one - has anyone had this or know what brands are better to stick to? It says it contains 1450 fluoride. Tia!

It's a quid, just buy it and try her with it.
My DD has just turned 2 and has used boots from day one.

GimmeSleep · 31/03/2023 14:31

Aquafresh children's one is pretty mild

greenacrylicpaint · 31/03/2023 14:33

give it a try.
as long as the flouride content is high enough.

lidl own brand has a 'herb' flavour, more aniseed than mint. my dc quite liked that when little.

SnackSizeRaisin · 31/03/2023 14:35

Own brand ones are generally less strong. Aldi is mild tasting. I find Colgate one of the worst. You don't need kids toothpaste

Barleysugar86 · 31/03/2023 14:38

My kids hated the colgate one- loved the aquafresh little teeth ones so we've stuck with that.

Notadramallama · 31/03/2023 14:44

Most name brand toothpastes are way too minty for me so I use the Tesco own brand. As long as the fluoride level is correct then there's no issue.

Albiboba · 31/03/2023 14:45

Wow people really say things like 33 months!

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 31/03/2023 15:11

I use own brand, it’s just toothpaste.

Skyeheather · 31/03/2023 15:31

DS age 3 likes Asda Kids Toothpaste for age 3-5 years (£1.00). DS age 6 doesn't like mint so we get the character toothpaste from Savers, was Paw Patrol now Spider-Man, it's either bubblegum or strawberry flavour and it's blue which makes a difference too apparently!

Threw me off too - 33m means male, age 33 everywhere else on the internet!

EgyptAdvice · 31/03/2023 16:55

Also came to say 33 months made me laugh. Alternative: nearly 3

weststreet · 31/03/2023 17:53

33 months 😂😂😂

SpinningFloppa · 31/03/2023 17:58

Aqua fresh strawberry?

ProfessorGambol · 31/03/2023 18:07

My kids like the Wilkos Mild Mint toothpaste

firsttimemxm · 31/03/2023 18:37

I’ll pick it up regardless as it’s only £1 but it was more about the fluoride level being correct rather than a price tag. As for everyone coming on here to slate me for saying my dd age in terms of months, you really should get a life if you have nothing else but to come on here and laugh at peoples expense! Meant to be a community of mothers being able to feel safe and supported, grown women acting like children! Wow! Thank you to everyone who left advice of diff brands etc i’ll have a look at those!

Maybe that’s the plot twist, it’s actually the 33 year old male who finds it too spicy!

Are you new here?

OHEdentalnurse · 31/03/2023 18:45

@firsttimemxm

1450ppm is for 3+ only.
If ingested at a young age, it can cause issues with adult dentition (fluorosis).

teacakie · 31/03/2023 18:50

Your kid is 2 so I would stick with age appropriate toothpaste.

Favouritefruits · 31/03/2023 19:06

Colgate do a kids strawberry one if you like that brand but your DD doesn’t like the taste, my youngest son uses it…

Toothpaste - own brand??
firsttimemxm · 31/03/2023 19:18

The one with the seahorse on is minty

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 31/03/2023 21:33

@firsttimemxm We just bought aquafresh strawberry from Wilko (£1.25) today and my DD loves it.
