If a mum had a young child on a bus , say aged 3 - 5, for arguments' sake, and the mum got out a snack for the child - which was a sandwich box full of colourful, pre prepared salad - so loadsa lettuce, tomatoes finely chopped props and grated carrot etc - and the child ate it contentedly - - would an eyebrow be raised amongst the Mumsnet collective?

Why would any of us give a crap what your kid eats?

PussBilledDuckyPlait · 31/03/2023 12:28

As long as the child doesn't drop bits of salad all over the bus, I can't see a problem with it.

44and63 · 31/03/2023 12:28

Eh?

You'd be surprised some posters get very upset about donuts and mcdonalds

CrystalCoco · 31/03/2023 12:29

Depends how much of a mess the DC makes, if it goes all over the seat and the floor then yeah, I'd be giving you the side-eye.

thegrain · 31/03/2023 12:29

Is this child using a fork?

SunshineGeorgie · 31/03/2023 12:29

Is 'loadsa' the new 'massive' when it comes to salad?

Overthebow · 31/03/2023 12:29

Why? Salad is good for DC so not sure why anyone would judge it.

SunshineGeorgie · 31/03/2023 12:29

What is 'chopped props'?

Ragruggers · 31/03/2023 12:30

Would be difficult to eat on a bus but why would anyone care?Carrotsticks wouldbe better than grated I would say.

KnickerlessParsons · 31/03/2023 12:31

I'd wonder why you feel the need to feed your child on a bus and probably judge you for not teaching your child to wait until the next mealtime/you get home before eating.

DomesticShortHair · 31/03/2023 12:31

Is there a beverage involved? If so, then the child should have to pay the driver corkage, I’m afraid. Or else I’ll be grabbing my MN pitchfork.

ZebaBay · 31/03/2023 12:31

thegrain · 31/03/2023 12:29

Is this child using a fork?

Can do, but it could be something much more user friendly - like a toddler friendly largish plastic spoon

thegrain · 31/03/2023 12:31

The only thing it should be unacceptable to eat on a bus is fish, egg sandwiches and kfc

nc13467 · 31/03/2023 12:32

I personally wouldn't have a problem.

Anyone who does have a problem is more likely to have an issue with a child eating on a bus and potentially making a mess rather than what the actual food is?

Why would anyone else care if a strangers DC's snack is healthy?

Fair point

It can be, if you want it to be !!!

Yeah the grated carrots aren't very bus friendly.

TomatoSandwiches · 31/03/2023 12:35

It's a Gregg's sausage roll or nothing I'm afraid.

Sorry I'm laughing aloud like a loon at my own typo - should read 'chopped PEPPERS' - sorry !!

Brefugee · 31/03/2023 12:37

i would raise an eyebrow at the constant need for snacking and the possible performative parenting accompanying the contented munching.

My worry is how much would be dropped all over the place. Give the kid a banana.

Good alternative
