Ok money is no object - me and my partner both work from home so (UK) location is no object. What we both absolutely love are high end delis, bijou cafes. twee cake shops, I'm sure you get the picture !

Where in the UK is best for this Mumsnet ?

Birkenhead

The ultimate glamour town! 😂

HamishHero · 31/03/2023 17:26

Morningside in Edinburgh. Has all that and is in a fabulous city.

Dorset....Jurassic Coast

SophiaLarsen · 31/03/2023 17:31

Southwold not all that imo but Aldeburgh is lovely. Woodhall Spa in Lincs ticks your boxes too.

Amersham
Totnes
Lymington

Ledbury
Ludlow

Clifton in Bristol
Bath.

Burnham Market in Norfolk. Every house has a F & B painted front door.

Wallabyone · 31/03/2023 17:38

I'd live in Hampstead

Shortbread49 · 31/03/2023 17:58

Although there is a restaurant with a Michelin star in Oxton village and that is only a short walk up the hill from Birkenhead

Harrogate

Could you list the:
high end delis?
bijou cafes?

Everyone seems to think Harrogate- as someone who lives in central Harrogate I am at a total loss as to why?

Yes it has 2 cake shops. Neither are really twee, Betty's is old fashioned but sadly has not recovered post covid .

Agree, I'm very close to Harrogate and drive to Malton or Easingwold for the stuff OP wants.

There are loads of independent bougie places in Harrogate and Knaresborough! Definitely more than 2 cake shops.

I have to say though re Betty’s - it has definitely turned from a quaint cafe with tasty treats and amazing tea into an overpriced tourist trap with mediocre food. Last time I was in a paid a small fortune for what seemed to be a microwaved breakfast.

Tea is still amazing though.

My favourite Harrogate place is very greasy spoon but possibly the tastiest food in Yorkshire - Sandwiches and More in Bilton. Incredible!

Totally!

Not to be pedantic but it’s actually in Battersea 😉

OlympicProcrastinator · 31/03/2023 22:28

I don’t think Winchester or St Albans has been mentioned yet.

Shortbread49 · 31/03/2023 22:33

South liverpool like Allerton Road and Lark Lane, not York it is increasingly full of empty boarded up shops

Nat6999 · 31/03/2023 23:32

We have places like that & micro brewery pubs in the shopping centre where I grew up, some of the cafes have bistro evenings as well. It's Woodseats in Sheffield, 10 minutes drive from the Peak District, 10 minutes to the City Centre, 20 minutes from Junction 29 of the M1. Good schools, a beautiful park, houses sell like mad with a wide range of house prices starting from £150k to over £400k

I don't think 1 greasy spoon that opens for a few hours a day meet the criteria of bijou cafe or high end deli

You ocular alway get Dougies on the way back (fish is fab- chips are average)
