There doesn't seem to be anything funny anymore. Would love to be proven wrong.

Ron in the Thursday murder club books is great.
Which reminds me that I need to buy book 3

I find Norsemen on netflix is quite funny, sort of cross between monty python and the office. I hated The Cleaner.

There is very little that makes me laugh on TV these days other than Taskmaster. I watch old Father Teds and my favouite comedians Sean Lock and Rhod Gilbert if I want a laugh.

GretaGood · 31/03/2023 06:36

Would I lie to you is v funny

Was just about to say that!
It's the only thing on TV that's made me laugh so much it hurt.

Anon9898 · 31/03/2023 06:51

No nor me. My husband watched task master tonight. Love it but don't like frankie Boyle. I can sit and watch comedians and think how the heck is this funny. I am watching as time goes by at the minute on brit Box and that makes me laugh as its just silly. The only sketch show I really laugh at is goodness gracious me. Even though now half of it would be banned

It's probably some people who are trigger offence by allmost anything,

Have probably made tv and society , as bland as beige grey as boring as fxck really in life,

I know the feeling,
No fun novelty songs or funny carry on style films bit risqué postcards, ect

Carry on style films and risque postcards are not funny though. That stuff is all just reliant on body parts and sex being somehow naughty. It is embarrassing really.

Have you read the thread where the woman accidentally shared her work colleague’s Facebook page? Then someone chimes in with a story about a woman stalking her ex on Facebook and managing to tag herself as the baby in a photo of him and his new wife and baby. Fuck I had tears rolling down my face. And I don’t generally find most stuff funny.

I remember it. Haven’t laughed so hard in years. Cracking up again now at your post.

There was another one at a similar time about a woman who stalked her hot colleague and Siri read out his address, which he overheard. Also hilarious.

coffeemoon · 31/03/2023 07:00

Two TV shows to recommend -

What We Do In The Shadows
Parks & Recreation

Haven't laughed so much at TV in a long time!

evilharpy · 31/03/2023 07:00

The thing that makes me laugh more than anything else on TV is Would I Lie To You. Especially when Bob Mortimer is on, that man makes me howl.

JuneOsborne · 31/03/2023 07:02

How old are you? My friends and I have decided this is a key symptom of peri menopause!

MrMarkham · 31/03/2023 07:03

I'm a bit like you but I find Ghosts very funny

PogoThePunk · 31/03/2023 07:10

I love the carry on films and similar risque stuff, they have me howling with laughter no matter how many times I watch them.
After Time, the Royle family, Afterlife and The Office has me in stitches too.

Me too. I saw one the other day where he was going to look at the Gulf Stream and he slept in a laytex mask in the car for warmth and I laughed till it hurt.

If you are referring to YV I completely understand.

Drivel like. Mrs Browns Boys and Seth Lets Flats are far removed from funny.

I miss quality comedies such as Father Ted, Phoenix Nights, Keeping Up Appearances, The Office etc

How dare you! Stath Lets Flats is comedy gold and should never be lumped in with Mrs Brown’s Boys!

For new comedy I love Motherland and Derry Girls. But I do have to resort to the oldies at times. Ab Fab, Father Ted, Check it out with Steve Brule, Will & Grace (mainly for Karen and Jack), anything with Bob Mortimer…

Do you find it wisible when I say the words... Biggus Diccus?

That's horrible, how can anyone find the pain of others funny?

Wonnle · 31/03/2023 08:15

Try listening to David Sedaris on R4 or BBC sounds

efeslight · 31/03/2023 08:18

Like others I like to watch clips of past shows on YouTube.
Sean lock stand up, Bob Mortimer on Would I lie to you?
Michael McIntyre stand up, slap stick nonsense of Harry Hill.
What have you enjoyed in the past ? Rediscover it if you can

efeslight · 31/03/2023 08:19

Diane Morgan on YouTube too

JaneJeffer · 31/03/2023 08:27

@crossstitchingnana it so funny it got a sketch made about it

There is a word to describe exactly that - schadenfreude! Pleasure derived by someone from another person's misfortune.

This person lived. They just happened to have been caught on camera by RTE news as they slipped on ice.

There is another one - frostbit boy!

#Frostbit Boy Uncut "You Wouldn't Be Long Getting Frostbit!" - Ruairí McSorley (TURN ON CAPTIONS)

Autienotnautie · 31/03/2023 08:37

Tv - we watch a lot of stand up - Greg Davies. (I don't find the cleaner funny but like him otherwise) Chris Ramsey, romesh Jack Whitehall etc. panel shows like WILTY. I like stuff like ant n dec and Michael McIntyre. Recently watch hebburn on iPlayer that was funny.

CosyCoffee · 31/03/2023 08:38

Comedy is subjective and all you can do is try lots of different ones til you find a show that suits your humour. These are some of the ones I like:

Mandy
The Cockfields
What We Do In The Shadows
It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
Parks and Recreation
American Dad
Cuckoo

I also never fail to laugh at Laurel and Hardy films. Brats had me in tears.

I still mourn the loss of TV Burp. Sad

Catspyjamas17 · 31/03/2023 08:43

Ghosts, Motherland, Am I Being Unreasonable, Detectorists all make me laugh but I also like that they are not just about the laughs.

ClemmyTine · 31/03/2023 08:43

Loved Lead Balloon with Jack Dee.

A cow and a sheep in a field.
The cow says ' moooo've over'
Sheep replies ' baaaalocks'

Boom boom.
