Doesn’t the article say they were told off for mining but they weren’t?

MrsMitford3 · 29/03/2023 15:38

I thought it meant they were told off for singing but they were just miming.

Which for me is almost worse 😂

It says "for the first song they mimed to one another for a laugh"

This is ridiculous. It's a musical! Aren't you SUPPOSED to sing along in the aisles?

Bumble84 · 29/03/2023 15:40

I’d like to hear the steward’s take on what happened.

Keeween · 29/03/2023 15:41

I think they’re full of shit and the stewards, and other theatregoers, would have a different story to telll.

ClaraThePigeon · 29/03/2023 15:42

This is ridiculous. It's a musical! Aren't you SUPPOSED to sing along in the aisles?

No. The whole point is to hear the professionals on stage do it. There's often a song or two where you can sing along, usually at the end, but the cast will tell you if that's the case. No one is paying a small fortune to hear random people screeching along.

Allmyplantsdie · 29/03/2023 15:43

People pay a fortune for theatre tickets. You want to be able to focus on what’s going on, not some muppet next to you who is just having a laugh.

why do these people think that they have a right to ruin things for everyone else

Absolutely not

RiktheButler · 29/03/2023 15:43

Were you there op? Or are you just one of those miserable buggers who hates people enjoying themselves at a theatre?

PuttingDownRoots · 29/03/2023 15:44

If you want to sing, you go to a Sing Along version.

I feel sorry for actors having to put up with that shit.

MadameThenardier · 29/03/2023 15:44

They say they are embarrassed yet go to the press. Now even more people are aware of their faux pas 🤷🏻‍♀️

Mrsherdwick · 29/03/2023 15:44

Totally selfish people.

Acrylicpainter · 29/03/2023 15:44

Sounds like they were showing off and miming just to make a point because they'd been told they couldn't sing.

I have never encountered anyone singing along at a musical, unless it's clearly a singalong number at the end. Imagine it- a moving "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" accompanied by Doris in row 23 doing her own version 😂

NO! People pay to hear the professionals not random people who can't sing.

...no.

iThat's what sing-alongs are for.

Villssev · 29/03/2023 15:46

There will be more to this

Added to which, no witnesses, just the word of an odd peed off family

potniatheron · 29/03/2023 15:47

Really? Awww well when I went to see Mamma Mia in Cardiff everyone was standing up and singing to all the numbers. Mind you, it was a rowdy theatre and rowdy evening all round

potniatheron · 29/03/2023 15:40

This is ridiculous. It's a musical! Aren't you SUPPOSED to sing along in the aisles?

Absolutely not. People pay to see and hear the performance not hear a bunch of tone deaf audience members instead.

Hell no! Not unless it's a singalong production. I took my Mum to see Joseph, she was thrilled. Bloody woman in front of us started burbling away but luckily her friend shut her up before I critiqued her performance.

Villssev · 29/03/2023 15:48

I bet the op is one of the party and trying to raise awareness in the misjudged expectation we would all be horrified on her behalf

got that wrong Op! 😂

Comefromaway · 29/03/2023 15:49

Audience behaviour since the theatres re-opened after covid is dreadful. The stories dd has told me are unbeleivable.

You absolutely do NOT sing along. The highly trained professionals on stage are telling a story through song, dance and spoken word. The audience have paid a lot of money to watch.

FOH staff have a very hard job. They let a lot go because they simply can't police everything so I am sure the behaviour of the family must have been quite extreme for them to have intervened.
