He's off This Morning with no explanation this week.

The story broke about husband brother yesterday.

And the story's not even appearing on any online news outlet front page of articles today.

We see you

I dislike Philip Scholfield. He is an arrogant prick who has used his money and influence to escape justice
However, there is an ongoing court case against his brother and as another poster pointed out social media speculation is not always based on facts. This may have an adverse effect on the victim but can also effect the outcome of the trial.
if this man is guilty , I want him to be punished. I do not want him to use any potential ‘loophole’ to evade justice

MeMyBooksAndMyCats · 28/03/2023 11:29

He's a paedophile, he groomed an underaged boy. The fact he's still on TV is disgusting.

MeMyBooksAndMyCats · 28/03/2023 11:30

Tirrrrred · 28/03/2023 08:56

We can't compare Philip to a pedophile though. If the rumours about the runner are true I don't think he was a child? He was at least working age?

No he was under 16 when they first met.

a civilian Police worker?

Yes

In another life I was a typist at NSY in a Civilian role.

Agree

He also seems to think he is as he was in the 80s!

None of us should be condemned for the actions of our family members.

You should be if you cover for your family doing things like this.

Greenfairydust · 28/03/2023 13:30

@waterlego ''Yes, the facts are public. Speculation on forums often tends to go beyond the facts though.

I am absolutely not a fan of PS and his brother clearly sounds like a horrendous person.

But there is a victim at the centre of all of this and I would hope he wouldn’t have to go through the ordeal of a trial more than once (which is what is likely to happen in the event of a mistrial).''

Once a story is out in the public domain there is nothing you can do to stop people discussing it online. Full stop.

Are you going to try to stop people speculating about the case on Twitter as well and try to delete every single tweet? or discussing it in various forums?

And if you think a Mumsnet thread is going to sway a jury/damage a case, it doesn't say much in your understanding of the justice system.

I am really not a fan of censorship and I believe celebrities should be submitted to the same scrutiny as anyone else.

If he has no part in covering up for his brother then he has nothing to fear whatsoever and his reputation will not suffer.

Most people can grasp that he is not responsible for what a member of his family might have done.

If he had knowledge of it then he will have to face the consequences.

In the end people will talk about this story whether this thread is removed or not.

waterlego · 28/03/2023 13:39

Sure, people will talk @Greenfairydust. At home or in the pub or the hairdressers, where they’re unlikely to be overheard by a member of the jury.

I haven’t said anywhere that I believe MN threads (or Twitter threads for that matter) are likely to sway a jury.

I have simply said that discussion of court cases on social media can be viewed as contempt of court. This risks a mistrial, which is a disaster for the victim.

My concern is for the victim and nobody else.

Where's Philip Schofield
Greenfairydust · 28/03/2023 13:49

@waterlego

I am not sure of what you are trying to achieve here.

The Mail is printing what is being said at the trial so people are fully aware of the story.

Philip Scofield is not the one on trial.

Most of the comments here actually focus on him rather than his sibling.

ItsRainingCatsAndDogsAgain · 28/03/2023 14:08

Xrays · 28/03/2023 08:23

The articles I’ve read say the statement he’s given police have formed part of the case against the brother, not supporting him.

PS made a statement only after the victim's counsellor reported the abuse to the police. At the time, PS did nothing beyond tell his brother not to do it again. Two months passed when he could very much have been doing it again and/or abusing others.

waterlego · 28/03/2023 14:23

The only thing I’m trying to ‘achieve’ @Greenfairydust is pointing out why these threads often disappear. I can see you’re finding it difficult to understand what I’m saying so I’ll leave it.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 28/03/2023 14:41

I would think he's supporting his DM

Whammyyammy · 28/03/2023 14:45

Can't stand the man, but the actions of his brother are nothing to do with him.

HoneyPotBee · 28/03/2023 15:02

PS is going to be the next JS.

You can really see how people like him hide in plain sight. Millions of people still tune in to watch him on TV. If half of them acted with integrity and switched off then he wouldn’t be on TV.

DohADear · 28/03/2023 15:02

Whammyyammy · 28/03/2023 14:45

I do agree with you that he shouldnt be punished for the actions of his brother. However, I am appalled that he kept quiet until he was asked - for that he should definitely face the consequences.

Greenfairydust · 28/03/2023 16:02

''@waterlego

You are going to ''leave it'' because you don't have any kind of relevant or valid point to make.

There are comments about PS all over Twitter at the moment, most of them absolutely damning and focusing on the fact that he did not report his brother to the authorities when his brother spoke to him about his alleged crimes.

So this thread is no better or worse than anything that is widely available and widely discussed on various social media channels, often in much stronger terms.

People are not actually commenting on the person who is being tried, they are commenting on the behaviour of someone they are related too.

If PS knew about his brother's behaviour and if his brother is found guilty it is likely there will be further questions as to why he remained silent.

I think it is perfectly normal for people to have an opinion on this.

Personally I found the idea that anyone would cover up/fail to disclose an instance of an adult taking advantage of a minor appalling.

waterlego · 28/03/2023 16:44

@Greenfairydust I seem to have annoyed you. That wasn’t my intention.

Anyway. I have a lot of opinions on PS and his brother. But I’m going to keep them for real life chats. You crack on and do whatever you like. Despite what you appear to believe, I’m not actually trying to stop people saying whatever they want online. For the last time: I was pointing out why these threads often get deleted. Not sure why you’re so annoyed about that or seem to have taken it so personally. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yepanothernamechange · 28/03/2023 17:08

@idontlikementhols oh yes - an absolute flesh crawling creep

Yes

In another life I was a typist at NSY in a Civilian role.

I know there are civilian roles in the organisations, it just seemed a weird place to work to then be answering charges in court.

gooseduckchicken · 29/03/2023 17:28

For those like to bring up the rumour about the tv runner ... according to news websites, he met him when was 10 in his role as a patron to an organisation. Did PS maintain a relationship with him from then?

Wasn't Liam from One Direction 14 when he met Cheryl Cole? Do you feel the same way about her?
