Waters broke 14 weeks is there any hope?

I think my waters broke and I'm only 14 weeks along, i was stood in the kitchen and all of a sudden there was a load of bloody liquid like wee but I wasn't weeing. Maternity unit wouldn't see me because I was less than 18 weeks and EPU is shut so they told me to ring 111 who said go to A&E so now I'm sat in A&E.

There is no hope for the baby though right? :( I have had 3 miscarriages and when this one got to 12 weeks and everything looked OK I stupidly began to relax.

Great news, I was watching this thread yesterday hoping for the best, my friend had a similar bleed and he's a strapping 3 year old now.

OP, I has 3 MCs too before DS and I can't tell you how much I'm keeping everything crossed for you and your baby, you're in my thoughts 💗 Please take it really easy now and push for thorough cervix examination. If you had first trimester losses they may not have caused enough pressure on your cervix for it to open. They need to examine you very carefully and put a stitch in asap if there are any signs of it weakening. Also push for all the swabs checking infections, especially UTIs. You're not a nuisance, they need to be very thorough now. Wishing you all the very best 🌺🌺🌺 xxx

Hello everyone

I have had my scan, baby is fine!! Which is obviously great news but I think I am just in shock I honestly thought there was no hope.

I have been admitted to the EPU for monitoring and they think what happened yesterday was just a water leak rather than losing everything and they can't really explain why and that the bleeding this morning was just because of them swabbing my cervix yesterday.

Thank you so much to everyone on here and fingers crossed everything stays OK

Oh doesn't Mumsnet get you sometimes! So pleased for you!

Here's to reading about your new baby in a few months time OP very unmumsnetty hugs

Isn't it wonderful how, every now and again, a complete stranger's good news can brighten your day!

Delighted for you OP, wishing you a very happy and healthy remainder of pregnancy.

Humans are quite fabulous! I felt a wave of relief upon reading OP's update, it's quite remarkable how our brains are able to feel genuine compassion for people we have never met.

midnightblue12 · 27/03/2023 14:02

Hi OP, that is great news and such a relief. I had similar happen 3 times to me, first at 17 weeks and last at 23 weeks, then fine from then on. Each time they could see water around my cervix but not where it had come from.

Absolutely terrifying the first time xx

Antiquiteas · 27/03/2023 14:07

Good news. Very glad for you.

I’ve been there in EPU, waiting and fully expecting the silence after they put the scan on your tummy, but the absolute shock of them swinging the screen round to show you they’re absolutely fine and oblivious to it all.
