To not wash kids' PJ's after every wear?

Talking to a friend just now and was told that I am 'minging' for making the 9 year old wear his pajamas 2 or 3 nights before washing.

I mean, if it was sweltering heat, then that's different. He has a bath every night before bed as well.

Surely IANBU?!

When u made that statement it comes across as though u are questioning me in my routine of me washing my sons pj's... Go rest and have a goodnight

My son ia 2 years old! I wash his clothes with mine and i have a dryer aswel so some of the washing gets left for when there is a wash load including my items too... At the end of the day like i mentioned my son is 2 also like to add i am potty training him

I, like others, was responding to your muddled and confused post where you said that your son wore clean pyjamas every day but you didn't wash them after every wear. I think we've now established you do wash them after every wear. Not every day, but after every wear.

Billyhargrovesmullet · 20/03/2023 22:05

Everyone has fresh pjs every night here including adults

Well that's ur problem of u was muddled and confused... I clearly stated change his pj's everyday but i don't wash them everyday... I put them in the pile to be washed with mine and when the pile gets full for a load of washing then i wash them including my laundry. I wash clothes 3 times a week.. Im no longer going back and forth with this.. Its not even my post

How many pairs do you own? Out of interest

I feel sorry for the earth if everyone like your friend was so selfish...most normal parents without OCD would replace PJ's every 3-4 days unless child has an accident

Just a PSA, please don't use OCD as an insult. I have OCD and am still a 'normal' person. Fortunately mine is quite mild and is a lot more sensory based than repetitive or hygiene based but for a lot of people with OCD it can be a very debilitating condition.

You wrote I don't wash my boys clothes after every wear as he has loads of pjs but he has a fresh set of pjs to wear everyday. That is what you clearly stated. You meant "every day" but you said "every wear". As I say, a muddled and confused post. My statement was accurate.

SkyeBlue28 · 20/03/2023 22:37

My children are 3 and 6 and they wear their pj’s for one week unless they get dirty or the 3yo has a leaky nappy.

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 20/03/2023 22:40

My 7 year old usually wears 2 pairs a week.
my 3 year old wears 3 pairs a week, more if he has an accident.

caveat to that is if they get sweaty etc then we’ll change them.

crosstalk · 20/03/2023 23:11

Grew up in Africa. Water at a premium. Never ran a tap to wash my teeth. I still try to keep my water consumption down and after DC nappies and DCs bathed in a bowl I try not to over use. There seems to be a disconnect - we need water for growing food, rivers and our own hydration. Over cleanliness doesn't help the planet. How will you manage with standpipes in a drought?

IHateLegDay · 20/03/2023 23:19

I change DCs PJs every night but will wear my own for a couple of days before changing.

IPlayedFortnite · 21/03/2023 07:43

We change them every day.

Until a year ago, I would keep them for a second wear as they never looked dirty enough to wash. Then my dc got threadworms and ever since I've changed pjs daily.

Hate those threadworms Envy

Churnchurn · 21/03/2023 08:01

We swap jimmie jammies about twice a week, I haven’t got the time or the inclination to wash them more often. Obviously, occasionally this deviates due to heat, I’ll mess or similar but generally we rewear

FelicityFlops · 21/03/2023 08:47

Goodness, we had clean nightwear once a week and bedclothes changed once a fortnight, when I was growing up.
In those days it was a bath before bed and we certainly didn't wear pyjamas at the breakfast table.
I really do not understand this modern concept of washing and cleaning everything to within an inch of its life and on a daily basis.

Sortyourlifeout · 21/03/2023 10:22

Thank you everyone!

So nice to know that I'm NBU for once 😂

Pants, socks and tshirts changed daily. PJs are changed weekly and their bedding every two weeks. Quick, call social services!!

I think (I'm not trying to be a twat here but oh well) I was confused because they wrote his instead of he's (his 2/he's2) which changes the structure of the sentence. I just couldn't get my head round it because his 2 what? But now think I understand.... ish

Anotherturnipforthebooks · 22/03/2023 11:11

I can't believe my post from the other day was deleted! All I said was that I wasn't actually questioning the other poster and wouldn't be responding to them anymore.

I didn't realise the talk guidelines includes 'I didn't understand something and am fucking furious that someone has tried to explain it to me'

MoggyMittens23 · 22/03/2023 11:24

@Anotherturnipforthebooks that's odd
