I’ve had the biggest giggle with my Mum this morning 🤣. I’ve been ill all week with shingles and so can’t visit my Mum this weekend neither of my parents have had chicken pox. So posted card and present, she opened it this morning and I’d sent her a beautiful photo frame but forgot to put the photos of the kids in 🤦‍♀️… crying with laughter down the phone together… best present ever!

My DDs are with dad this weekend and I know I won’t get anything because I was too poorly to take them shopping. However my youngest (who has SEN) made me a card at Cubs… apparently it’s a cow and an elephant 🤣🤣🤣

AIBU to think giggles and memories are more important than stuff! I’ll get a cuddle when my girls get home later… what more could any Mother want?

Years back when DD was in year one they made clay crafts for the mums. The note said something like "This is my heart, I made it to show how much I love you"

She told me they were supposed to make hearts but that was boring and she chose to make my favourite animal to go on the windowsil instead.
She chose the coolest animal she could think of. A snake. Which she posed coiled up and then sprinkled with glitter.

I was slightly confused by the shiny clay turd in a sandwich bag that she gave me but I love it and it did get to live on the windowsil for years.

I'm sorry but, shiny clay turd really had me loling!😂

DS (nearly 3) drew me a picture of Lightning McQueen because he cannot fathom that people might love something more than Cars.

I got lots of sloppy kisses from my preschoolers today and then paid them (took them out for a meal) to celebrate me!

I received a card from my autistic 18 year old who is now loving life at university. It said 'its thanks to you that I'm awesome' except she's crossed off awesome and written autistic 😂. It made me laugh as she's recently realised how similar we are!!

This is brilliant (and also true- ASD having a genetic basis and all that)!

DS brought me a unicorn toy, then because he had brothers too young for shopping took Dad to the charity shop to buy two more. Plus some unicorn play dough and some unicorn stickers. Gotta love a lad who can stick to a theme.

The kids have mostly pinched the play dough so I got the gift of 5 minutes peace.

My present seems to be a wake up call that Mother’s Day is another occasion my “d”p doesn’t acknowledge! I’d got the message after countless birthdays, Xmas etc went without so much as a happy xyz

Loving some of these funny ones though 😂

My favourite Mother's Day card was this picture from DS (upside down, sorry!) I love the accessories and that I appear to be holding either a handbag or a poo bag and am wearing a Cyndi Lauper style tutu and knickerbocker combo with heels 😂
Treasured this for many years.
Love the Happy Moth's Day card and lots of others!💕

Still have the first card from DD which the nurses in GOSH NICU made - it was hanging on her cot when we visited. She was 15 days old! Now 30 and expecting her own first baby - best gift ever.

When I was at primary school we had to write acrostic poems for mothers day and read them out in assembly. I couldn't think what else to put for S so I wrote "scrubbing is what she does best". My mum, and all the other mums, were in hysterics and I had no idea why it was so funny 🤣

The youngest spent much of the morning cutting all her coloured paper, bought for certain craft activities, into random shapes which she then presented to me as a box of jewels.

That paper was expensive!!!

I recall one of the first independent gifts I bought my mother was a tong-like contraption that heated up on the end to heat-seal freezer bags.

Goodness knows what was going through my mind but I remember spotting it in a hardware shop (remember them?) and saving up for it for weeks!

My mum doesn’t remember it (probably went straight in the bin) but I don’t think I’d ever forget a gift as awful as that my whole life!

Not funny but lovely - I got two framed photos of my own mum from my eldest daughter along with a lovely card and message. My mum died in Jan so it had me in tears but was so lovely. She also got me a balloon, orchid plant and a lovely mug and some homemade cup cakes.

My son is autistic and agonised for so long every year writing my card that I told him not to worry about one this year.

Every year he would think for about half an hour and then the card would say

To Mum

Happy Mothers Day
From DS

It doesn't seem worth the pain it causes him!

Bog standard chocs and a bottle of wine facilitated by Grandparents here BUT I'm taking it as a Mother's Day present that my 16yo son has landed a part time job! I'm irrationally excited and overjoyed. There is light at the end of the tunnel! Independence really will come one day Grin

My DC chose this for me and paid for it out of their own money. It's a hot water bottle cover! We've all got hot water bottles, but mine doesn't have a cover as I've not got round to buying one.

I'm really chuffed with it. It made me laugh and it's so snuggly. His name is Jeff.

My DD (8) got me a lovely vintage brooch she saw in an antique shop in town which reminded me of the year I bought my mum a violently hideous brooch. I must have been 8 or 9 and thought it was the most beautiful thing ever but really it was utter tat - bright yellowy gold with plastic red roses all over it. Poor mum!

😂as a single parent I used to feel great envy hearing from the school mums all about the lovely breakfast in bed their partners had helped their children provide. Thank you for curing me of this.

My DD 7 made me a card with a picture of me on the front shouting “Help me”, DH looking fat and saying “I love food”, my son saying “I love my winkie” and my daughter saying “let’s make more mess”. Instead she told me that she loves me and my big boobs.

My dd16 painted me a picture of a can of Diet Coke Andy Warhol style.
She has done a fantastic job and it looks great, does make me question if I drink too much of the stuff though.

Last year DS brought me a mug of tea made with cold water (as not allowed to use the kettle) and the tea bag still in.... then he sat there watching me drink it 😁... I'm proud to say I did !!!

My ds15 got me a card with For A Special Mam on the front, which was funny enough because he calls me Mum, but when I opened it it said Have a Wonderful Birthday!
We all laughed so much (especially his sisters!)
