I’ve had the biggest giggle with my Mum this morning 🤣. I’ve been ill all week with shingles and so can’t visit my Mum this weekend neither of my parents have had chicken pox. So posted card and present, she opened it this morning and I’d sent her a beautiful photo frame but forgot to put the photos of the kids in 🤦♀️… crying with laughter down the phone together… best present ever!
My DDs are with dad this weekend and I know I won’t get anything because I was too poorly to take them shopping. However my youngest (who has SEN) made me a card at Cubs… apparently it’s a cow and an elephant 🤣🤣🤣
AIBU to think giggles and memories are more important than stuff! I’ll get a cuddle when my girls get home later… what more could any Mother want?
AIBU?

DD2 left me a note (on the back of her sisters medical apt letter) along the lines of ' I'm going out Sat so I'm going to be hanging on MD - you may as well be hanging too' and a bottle of vodka!

Teen humour coming out in my card this morning-
roses are red
violets are blue
thank you mum for pushing me out of you.
it made me laugh on what is a hard day (first without my own mum)

One of my friends absolutely loves to cook so for her it IS a very positive thing for her DH to take their DC out and leave her alone to her kitchen and an audiobook to produce a feast. I'm really hoping that's what was going on here!

Not a gift but a conversation I overheard this morning at Country Park. Father and young son out for a bike ride - son asked what are they going to do for mummy for Mother’s Day, Father answered ‘We’re letting mummy make us a lovely lunch’
I bloody hope she spat in it.

Not gifts, but a funny exchange overheard this morning concerning the requirement of wrapping of presents. Ds1 cannot wrap- he wraps like a bear with mittens on- and thought it was fine to give the gifts in their Amazon wrapping. Ds2 was appalled and insisted that the gifts needed to be wrapped. Some discussion ensued and eventually it was agreed that as ds1 bought the gifts, he would let ds2 off his share of the cost if he wrapped the 'sodding things'. The whole conversation was conducted in what they fondly imagined to be hushed tones.
When I was presented with the (beautifully wrapped) gifts, ds2 said "I just want you to know that they were in no way wrapped this morning in a hurry".
