I’ve had the biggest giggle with my Mum this morning 🤣. I’ve been ill all week with shingles and so can’t visit my Mum this weekend neither of my parents have had chicken pox. So posted card and present, she opened it this morning and I’d sent her a beautiful photo frame but forgot to put the photos of the kids in 🤦‍♀️… crying with laughter down the phone together… best present ever!

My DDs are with dad this weekend and I know I won’t get anything because I was too poorly to take them shopping. However my youngest (who has SEN) made me a card at Cubs… apparently it’s a cow and an elephant 🤣🤣🤣

AIBU to think giggles and memories are more important than stuff! I’ll get a cuddle when my girls get home later… what more could any Mother want?

Not gifts, but a funny exchange overheard this morning concerning the requirement of wrapping of presents. Ds1 cannot wrap- he wraps like a bear with mittens on- and thought it was fine to give the gifts in their Amazon wrapping. Ds2 was appalled and insisted that the gifts needed to be wrapped. Some discussion ensued and eventually it was agreed that as ds1 bought the gifts, he would let ds2 off his share of the cost if he wrapped the 'sodding things'. The whole conversation was conducted in what they fondly imagined to be hushed tones.

When I was presented with the (beautifully wrapped) gifts, ds2 said "I just want you to know that they were in no way wrapped this morning in a hurry".

Years back when DD was in year one they made clay crafts for the mums. The note said something like "This is my heart, I made it to show how much I love you"

She told me they were supposed to make hearts but that was boring and she chose to make my favourite animal to go on the windowsil instead.
She chose the coolest animal she could think of. A snake. Which she posed coiled up and then sprinkled with glitter.

I was slightly confused by the shiny clay turd in a sandwich bag that she gave me but I love it and it did get to live on the windowsil for years.

DD2 left me a note (on the back of her sisters medical apt letter) along the lines of ' I'm going out Sat so I'm going to be hanging on MD - you may as well be hanging too' and a bottle of vodka!

She sounds fab!!!

I got nothing! Not even a fecking text .
I spend so much time, money and effort with my dd and nothing !
I don’t know why I bother

A Dairylea dunker.

Get her told!! - seriously.

Mine used to make zero or hardly any effort, the hurt was awful after everything I do.

one year I got them told, lost my temper. Today I have been totally spoiled rotten, more than a birthday. Not bragging in the slightest, just hope you take my advice and tell her - and not nicely.

it is only early though, she might be going to do something?

My son used to sign his cards with our surname - you know, just in case I didn't realise who it was from.

I miss the school / nursery years.

In recent years I've had to my favourite step mum (step crossed out) my special mother in law (in law crossed out). Haven't heard anything from him today.

Going out to meet ex and daughter in a bit. She's far more thoughtful. I hope 🤣

That is her being lovely, did make me laugh 😬

When I was about 10, my dad had died the previous Christmas, so I had no guiding hand as to what to get for mum. I did hear her mention in passing that she needed a new toilet brush, so I saved money from my dinner money every day and . . . . .

We laughed about it years later, but I can imagine how she felt when she opened it

I got lovely, but very sensible gifts from my kids...

Have to say though this thread has honestly made my Mothers Day. So many awesome kids around, we're very lucky aren't we.

thank you mum for pushing me out of you.

it made me laugh on what is a hard day (first without my own mum)

One of my friends absolutely loves to cook so for her it IS a very positive thing for her DH to take their DC out and leave her alone to her kitchen and an audiobook to produce a feast. I'm really hoping that's what was going on here!

I truly hope so! I shall choose to believe it’s that and be happy for her 😊👍

My 5 year old made me a card at school.

On the front it says
'I love you to pices'
Pieces spelt wrong

And there is a heart that's had coloured paper stuck to it.

Just the line reminded me of something I'd expect a serial killer to write.

I have got a lovely shriveled hand keyring that my 6 year old made at rainbows. Doubles as self defence (it's pretty sharp 😅)

My kids have made me presents at nursery but they won't let me open them! 'No mammy, Laura (key worker) says you can't open them'

I'm assuming Laura said not to open them til Mother's day but they're not having any of it!

I got a multipack of hoola hoops from DS, I like hoola hoops but 🤷‍♀️
He also got me gin, then decided I might prefer tequila, wasn't sure what that went with so brought peach schnapps too.
He's 18 and now clearly has no money left.
We will have a nice evening 😂😂😂🥂

"My son used to sign his cards with our surname - you know, just in case I didn't realise who it was from."

My son used to do this too! He also used to absolutely insist that it was written to "ApplePippa Surname", not "Mummy", as Mummy wasn't my actual name. He's autistic, and the logic of that made perfect sense to him when he was younger!

I love this. Especially the description of a bear with mittens on 🤣

My 9 year old had forgotten it was Mother’s Day when he woke this morning. When I asked him what day it was he said Sunday 😂 he redeemed himself with an amazing mum card. Which he said is because it’s true. It’s the little things.

I received a card from my autistic 18 year old who is now loving life at university. It said 'its thanks to you that I'm awesome' except she's crossed off awesome and written autistic 😂. It made me laugh as she's recently realised how similar we are!!
