I’ve had the biggest giggle with my Mum this morning 🤣. I’ve been ill all week with shingles and so can’t visit my Mum this weekend neither of my parents have had chicken pox. So posted card and present, she opened it this morning and I’d sent her a beautiful photo frame but forgot to put the photos of the kids in 🤦‍♀️… crying with laughter down the phone together… best present ever!

My DDs are with dad this weekend and I know I won’t get anything because I was too poorly to take them shopping. However my youngest (who has SEN) made me a card at Cubs… apparently it’s a cow and an elephant 🤣🤣🤣

AIBU to think giggles and memories are more important than stuff! I’ll get a cuddle when my girls get home later… what more could any Mother want?

My then-toddler daughter got me a Minions Easter Egg one year. She was adamant that since I liked chocolate, and Minions were one of her favourites, it would be the perfect gift. The Easter Eggs had been next to the Mothers Day gifts in the shop.

(It was actually inedible but its a very fond memory!)

This is adorable. 🥰 My 4 year old often choose things that he likes (I mean, from his perspective, why on earth wouldn't you? The logic is so sweet).

I got the head of a twisted bracelet pet ( but I think ds has taken it back already) a hand made bracelet and a star sign keyring. But the 8 and 11 year old ( who has severe sen ) made me breakfast in bed! On two side plates. Very impressed. Ds15 was sick on his carpet in the night but dh cleaned that up. The eldest ds will probably give me a withering look or follow me around all day chatty depending on his mood.

Hugs to everyone who didn't get a card

Dd apparently can't read cursive. I have a keyring that says "Nan" on it.

Received a very sweet card from my 18 month old with the corner bitten off and a bloody lip from where daddy had given him a paper cut from licking the envelope 😂

Honestly this is more what’s it’s about love OP’s card
great to see rather than the depressing thread I’ve just read about a demand for jewellery that’s ended up in disappointment

no doubt a face like a slapped arse and atmosphere you could cut with a knife

So true!

@LadyMonicaBaddingham Happy Moth’s day is potentially one of the most brilliant things I’ve ever seen!

DD (3) made a box for me at the childminders which had chocolates in. She couldn’t wait to give it to me so she could have the chocolates of course!

My son likes to get jokey cards (he's 30) this year's is two orang-utans hugging, supposed to be me and him. Charming. He also gave me money towards my holiday fund. He did ask if I wanted flowers but he thought they were a rip off. He would have bought them if I wanted but it would have pained him.
Luckily I also have a daughter who is very thoughtful and caring. She's coming later for tea so I'll get some gifts then.

I've still got it! What makes it even funnier is that I'm actually quite scared of moths...

Standard stuff. Chocs from ds which he then opened and ate! Nice card though!
Teen dsd who lives with us as her mum isn't the best, gave me a card thanking me for everything.
Might have cried a bit there
And a bottle of my fave wine. Dh didn't buy it for her. She's 14.
I'm impressed. 😁

My favourite mother's day card was the first year my ds went and got one independently. He proudly stood there while I opened it saying he got it because it had a cute rabbit on the front and said " thinking of you" because he was thinking about me on mother's Day. I opened it and inside it said " So sorry for your loss".
I still have it 28 years later.

OMG hilarious!

When my son was in reception, he made me a card with a picture of me with grey wool for hair. At the time I still had very dark brown hair. He said "too many other mummies have brown hair and there was no brown wool left".
Which made me feel like I was glimpsing the future 🤭

Aww these are lovely and worth a million times more than an expensive shop bought gift. My DS loves rocks and gemstones and has made me a ring with a ring fixing and glued on a nice gemstone, I love it but slightly concerned it might turn my finger green!

What a nice thread.
It's an antidote to that awful one where a woman made her daughter cry because she ordered her the wrong gift.

Hold my beer. I got this.

So for reference I'm a loan parent but my mum and nan help out. DS aged 8 had about £5 of pocket money, he asked his nannies to take him to the shop to get something for mothers day.

My mother was grinning when he brought the gift bag and card over. I knew something was up.

I had a giant card that had 2 pineapples on it a mummy pineapple and a baby pineapple with Mummy you are so sweet I love you and so forth.

My gift....a 99p pineapple 🤣🤣🤣

Dd's argument to my mother in the shop was, flowers are so expensive they will just die, but a pineapple we can all enjoy. Mummy likes pineapple.

So yes, I have received a 99p pineapple and a card.

I cant stop giggling , he looked so proud of himself and I thanked him with a big hug and kiss.

Now he wants me to cut up the pineapple as he wants to eat it. 🤣

When I was about 13 I got my mum one of those gold Mum rings from Argos. I was going through a chav phase and had loads of my own gold jewellery. I ended up wearing the ring so I had a one for every finger. She must have been so glad to have an excuse not to wear it Grin
