Have started a new thread as think it’s important this doesn’t just get lost on my previous thread

The Ofsted report for the school where the head teacher died has been published …

They are toxic and need reform immediately.

@DDivaStar

As I posted on the other thread, my authority sends a locality lead into every school once a term ( more for those which are RI or Inadequate) with a specific focus. They spend the day, look at everything and then report back on positives and actions. So one term it might be SEND and maths, next term Attendance and reading etc. They will check up on the actions from the previous report and ensure all is well. This means they can pick up any issues early, get them sorted prior to an OFSTED visit and hopefully no surprises.

saraclara · 18/03/2023 08:43

I was appalled when I saw that yesterday.

It's quite unbelievable that that section was passed for publication.

*"The Headteacher killed herself and you all know why
*The school has a breakfast club

What was anyone thinking when that was drafted and passed?

GreenEggsAnd · 18/03/2023 08:44

If people’s main concern here is to prevent further suicides, please can I suggest that they read the Samaritans guidelines on reporting deaths by suicide and consider how this should influence how Ruth Perry’s tragic death should be discussed.

This poor woman's death is tragic, but there must have been other factors involved.

How stressful are inspections in schools? I worked in FE for quite a long time and was inspected three times - it was always a bit of an anxious time, usually around paperwork, but nothing like it seems to be in schools.

Oh and that OFSTED report appears to be in very poor taste and should really be taken down.

mrspinkhat · 18/03/2023 08:44

I can't find a published report, is it on the Ofsted website?

More support for schools can only be a good thing.

Lostinalibrary · 18/03/2023 08:55

I can tell you how stressful Ofsted inspections are in school. A new job - nice place to work. Has now become so toxic. Endless learning walks, being told how you can improve, expected working over the weekends and holidays. I know we do it anyway but this is explicit. Yet more visits this week, I think there were only about 3 members of staff not in tears through absolute stress. It’s a toxic, pressure cooker environment and unless you’re in it. You’ve no idea how stressed school staff are. Especially those due Ofsted.

No its not published on their website. School is still showing as outstanding from 2009 report.

I would assume this is fake, the fact it seems to only be on twitter is also dodgy.

needmorecoffeeandcake · 18/03/2023 08:57

Seeing as Ofsted have published this with an additional bullet point, I would be interested in a FOI request to see the draft report and that would have been sent to the school well in advance of publication.

needmorecoffeeandcake · 18/03/2023 08:57

@Maybebabyno2 I’ve linked to the Ofsted report as published on the school’s website. It’s not a fake.

It’s the actual report.

spanieleyes · 18/03/2023 09:03

It was on the OFSTED website but has since been removed.

needmorecoffeeandcake · 18/03/2023 09:04

@spanieleyes because they are like all bullies. Don’t like the scrutiny when their actions come to light.

needmorecoffeeandcake · 18/03/2023 09:05

The school’s letter to parents re the report Letter

DuckyShincracker · 18/03/2023 09:09

It's disgusting and shows the attitude of the organisation.

Alargeoneplease89 · 18/03/2023 09:13

I fully agree it's not fit for purpose. My local school has gone from outstanding to inadequate- all for "woke" factors. Nothing to with the fact it has outstanding results especially for underprivileged children.

Forever42 · 18/03/2023 09:15

Abolishing Ofsted would make the biggest difference to teacher recruitment and retention. It's not the two days of inspection itself that causes the most stress - it's the years of pressure SLT transfer to staff in order to be prepared for an inspection, reacting to ever-changing goalposts from Ofsted, most of which do not positively impact on the students themselves in any way.

XelaM · 18/03/2023 09:18

The link to the video in your previous thread didn't work for me. Can someone explain why the school was rated inadequate and what the safeguarding concerns were?

GettingThereCharleyBear · 18/03/2023 09:19

Bloody hell. That is absolutely horrendous - who signed off on that report???? Unbelievably crass 🤬.

The news report said children flossing was recorded as promoting over sexualisation of children, there was child on child abuse (a playground fight) and lapses in record keeping.

GettingThereCharleyBear · 18/03/2023 09:21

@XelaM there were genuine concerns (pre employment checks inadequate and paperwork incomplete) but it’s the way the whole thing has been handled that has shown a light on the process. It’s an utter tragedy 😢

Absolutely. No one has issue with the reasons for the judgement. We all know that any safeguarding concern is an automatic inadequate judgement.

However, the Ofsted culture is not supportive. It is akin to bullying.

It is on their school website -

click on the first link - Ofsted Report

GettingThereCharleyBear · 18/03/2023 09:25

@MrsMurphyIWish as many others have said, the ratings need to go. It needs to be advice and just a pass or needs more work judgement. Two heads I know locally who received Outstanding under the old measures were the two biggest bullies I’d ever encountered. The whole system is not fit for purpose - and parents are bloody obsessed by it 😢.
