Just when you thought Boris Johnson could sink any lower

Boris Johnson has put his father forward for a knighthood. What the actual fuck? Apart from the fact that I disagree with the honours system anyway, what had his father done to deserve it? Zero, nothing. Morally bankrupt to the absolute rotten core. There’s a change.org petition if you agree but that I can’t link to on here.

Aibu to be outraged?

Thread title ‘COULDNT’ sink any lower!

Am I surprised? Nope.

DiscoBoots · 07/03/2023 18:24

It works as a title OP, we all thought he could sink lower of he tried, and lo and behold

JackiePlace · 07/03/2023 18:24

I don't know. Have you read the application form? I thought these things were supposed to be confidential until officially announced, so are you on the committee that gets to decide?

It’s been on the news

The80swerethebest · 07/03/2023 18:25

@JackiePlace do I need to read the application form to know that he’s corrupt and morally bankrupt and it’s nepotism at its worst - nope

OP posts:
Saschka · 07/03/2023 18:25

There is also his previous intern, who all newspapers have been careful to describe as being 28, attractive and blonde, who he had also nominated.

Clearly not a former or current affair partner, because Boris has no track record whatsoever of trying to get lucrative jobs for his girlfriends.

JackiePlace · 07/03/2023 18:25

Ok, please ignore that question as I see it's all over the news.

The80swerethebest · 07/03/2023 18:26

It’s given me the rage - they are so entitled and unfit for any kind of public office

Just because it's not public does not mean he has not helped one way or another

ShandaLear · 07/03/2023 18:27

Surely that’s a massive conflict of interest and couldn’t be approved.

Barnstormaway787 · 07/03/2023 18:28

YANBU op! I greeted this bit of news with incredulity too!

The entitlement is beyond belief. There are millions of unsung civil servants who have served their country just as well, or if not better, than Stanley Johnson, who flip-flopped, and eventually voted for Brexit while living in France! Hypocritical or what?

There are even less salubrious rumours going around about him too which I won’t repeat here.

Saschka · 07/03/2023 18:28

Hawkins003 · 07/03/2023 18:26

Perhaps it is for “services in slapping the arses of female MPs at the Tory party conference”? Or “outstanding work in breaking his wife’s nose in front of their children”?

The80swerethebest · 07/03/2023 18:28

@Hawkins003 helped with what though? Boris Johnson is up to his eyes in sleaze and totally unfit to be a politician. I can’t imagine his Dad is worthy of knighthood. It’s nepotism - he gave his brother a peerage too for fuck all

OP posts:
The80swerethebest · 07/03/2023 18:29

Yes! More sleaze with a bit of added domestic violence. Yay.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 07/03/2023 18:30

It should not be possible to nominate close relatives.

My opinion of Boris is so low that it could go any lower, but I do think the system is fucked which allowed him to do this.

I hope that it gets blocked.

JackiePlace · 07/03/2023 18:30

I can't see that he has received any of the 'lesser' honours (MBE CBE etc) so is it even possible for him to just receive a knighthood?

In any case I agree it is clearly nepotism but that's how these things work isn't it.

Malariahilaria · 07/03/2023 18:30

Broke his wife's nose. Definitely knight of the realm material. Give him the knighthood, shows what a farce it all is.

JackiePlace · 07/03/2023 18:30

I think anyone can nominate whoever they like if I'm not mistaken.

The80swerethebest · 07/03/2023 18:32

We should abolish the bloody honours system too! Obscene

OP posts:
Ttwinkletoes · 07/03/2023 18:33

Liz Truss also added a good few / I mean - do they sit on each others laps when they squeeze their way in - there’s f….g hundreds of them.

The80swerethebest · 07/03/2023 18:35

If we have a House of Lords, it should be elected and not the current system.

If we have a House of Lords, it should be elected and not the current system.

But if it's elected by the public then how is it any use, as chances are it's a popularity contest rather than merit based

Hooklander · 07/03/2023 18:40

It's actually been on the news for a couple of days

CalistoNoSolo · 07/03/2023 18:41

I just hold out hope that this, the Hancock shitfest, the awakening of the populace to the fact that brexit is to blame for most of our current woes, and various other Tory scandals, will bring down the government. Its probably a vain hope, but still.
