I've known my partner since our teenage years but we've only got together as a couple since 2021. I had a crush on him when we were teenagers but he then dated someone else in the group. As I got to know him I grew up love his decent, straightforward personality and I realised his accent was very 'Blimey, Guv'nor!' - but I loved it! In the intervening years his accent hasn't been modified at all - my accent is closer to the generic South East England accent FWIW.

In fact, I realised recently I don't like any accent south of Cheshire 😅
I like Geordie, Scottish, Northern Irish, Scouse. Don't mind Cumbrian/Yorkshire etc. Not mad on Manc. Dislike anything further south than that.
Sorry!

No I don't like it. The Northern accent is nice.

Haha what would you class as a Northern accent? I mean, I'm northern but speak significantly different from people 10 miles away!

No, can’t stand it.

Love Irish accents though.

There are so many though. It's like saying you like an English accent.

My DP is German and he's completely fluent, and understands everything someone speaking standard English says to him. We were watching an interview with some Scousers the other day and he was only getting about one word in five. Still an English accent.

Same goes for Irish.
