makes me not want to shop in Tesco again. I find it really something I don't want to watch, how is it a good idea

I think it has that uncanny valley effect on people!

I wasn’t creeped out it just made me laugh as they look so ridiculous

MarshaBradyo · 06/03/2023 11:45

I watched it yeh it’s bad.

And it does remind me of that face posted below. Similar change of eyes and mouth

FrangipaniBlue · 06/03/2023 11:48

I just thought they looked like when people overuse filters on social media 😂😂😂😂

Forfrigz · 06/03/2023 16:46

Surely they must have known people would see the parallels of this and the horror of last year 'Smile'. It's quite similar, especially when she spits someone in a crowd with the weird face. I imagine some yuppie on the marketing team suggesting it, without being aware their own idea was influenced that film and all the other yuppies just nodding along thinking it sounds funny. It's awful and does have a creepy vibe.

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 06/03/2023 16:57

I just watched it again, the dog looks so stupid it's set me off laughing.

Jdorling · 06/03/2023 17:06

Totally horrible . .Get rid of those horrible faces .

pasta4metonight · 06/03/2023 17:12

Whoever came up with the Tesco advert is a complete wanker.

Quveas · 06/03/2023 17:15

I actually won't shop at Tesco. But that ad is very disturbing and wouldn't induce me to change my mind one bit. Whoever came up with the marketing strategy must hate Tesco as much as I do!

Squidthing · 06/03/2023 17:29

It's bloody awful.

Dudum · 06/03/2023 17:30

Pmsl at the dog and I'm not even a dog fan! 🤣

IDontWantToBeAPie · 06/03/2023 20:19

It reminds me of that Momo meme that went round a few years ago.

Very uncanny

MorganKitten · 06/03/2023 20:48

I’m worried for those who find it scary. It’s not at all, and nothing like S lie (again if you find that scary you haven’t seen a lot of horror films)

Nowi · 07/03/2023 12:27

The first time I had to keep peaking as couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Now I do look away. If my children were little I’d have to make sure it does not appear in between their tv programmes.

Don’t worry about me. I am a big fan of horror films. But there is a difference between scary and unsettling and this is it. Coupled with the fact that it is on in the middle of the day. Also it’s annoying that whoever made that ad is so clueless. And yes, there is such a thing as bad publicity.

Dredel · 07/03/2023 12:48

I don't find it scary at all. I find it weird, but quite effective as I know exactly what supermarket it is!

I'm worried that you don't seem to understand that different people find different things distressing.

Distressing!

Guis23 · 08/03/2023 17:28

I really cannot fathom why anyone thought this a good idea.
People are talking about it sure but not in a positive way.
It is really really odd.

UdoU · 08/03/2023 17:41

Bloody hell, if you found that scary then you'll find this baby terrifying

Riv · 14/03/2023 17:39

@UdoU sorry, I don’t agree. I find the advert unsettling, but think that YouTube baby with filters is just very childish “humour” that’s not worth bothering about.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 14/03/2023 18:43

It’s the weirdest advert and will have gone through so many checks - including the ASA and focus groups. 🤷‍♀️

Can only conclude they (the focus groups) really remembered it and the brand - after all, it won’t stop me from shopping there (I only do so once a month or so as nearest is HUGE which means I spend a fortune) and it’s a well trodden trail of ‘no publicity is bad publicity’.

Agreed

Defiantlynot41 · 21/03/2023 17:51

It's horrible. So glad others are finding it creepy and not just me.

Defiantlynot41 · 21/03/2023 17:53

Sorry posted too soon. Is this an example of the uncanny valley effect where things that are humanoid but not quite human are hideous?
