Failed miserably at biology at school, but have since done a GCSE in my own time - I just got my result today and I got an 8 (an A in old money). I feel sure there must be some mistake, but I am so thrilled!

YABU: Sit down and weesht, wummun, nobody cares
YANBU: Skip all you like, you gleeful twit

Congratulations and skip away. I admire you having another go and doing so well.

Benjispruce4 · 02/03/2023 16:21

It’s actually an A. A 7 is an A and a 9 is a new grade to reflect A* so yes you should dance all night!! 😀

Benjispruce4 · 02/03/2023 16:22

A*

Benjispruce4 · 02/03/2023 16:23

Ughhhh It’s an A because a 7 is an A. A 9 is a new grade to reflect an A*.

Benjispruce4 · 02/03/2023 16:24

What is up with these typos??? I am typing correctly and it’s getting changed after I post.
A =7
A*=8
A** =9

Benjispruce4 · 02/03/2023 16:24

Finally!

Sistanotcista · 02/03/2023 16:24

Boast and skip all you like! Well done - this is amazing news xx

PlimplePlop · 02/03/2023 16:28

ArmchairAnarchist2 · 02/03/2023 14:07

It's not an A, it's an A*. Boast away. x

Depends how old your money is. A*s didn't exist when GCSEs were introduced.

Well done, OP!

DahliaMacNamara · 02/03/2023 16:54

Well, GCSEs didn't exist in my day either. An A star biology grade is magnificent. I was shit at biology at school, and don't think I'd have the courage or motivation to give it another shot.

justasking111 · 02/03/2023 17:02

Well done I'm glad for you ☺️

Iyjd · 02/03/2023 17:04

What miserable sods voted YABU 🙄

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 02/03/2023 17:15

Bloody brilliant OP! A level next 😃?

letthemalldoone · 02/03/2023 17:32

Well done you - it's a great feeling of achievement! I devotedly failed Maths O level (showing my age...!) 4 times during school while getting As and a couple of Bs in everything else. Meanwhile my also-crap-at-Maths siblings got the tutoring I never got... they got Cs.

When sibling 1 passed I thought, I can do that too! Had not long graduated, so went night classes and got a B!!

Someone's story above reminded my of when DC2 got a raw mark for art of her GCSE Maths. I looked at it, said it looked like full marks but she couldn't possibly have got full marks so go back into school and check. It was full marks...!! Went on to get the only A in at least two generations lol!

reelcat · 02/03/2023 17:43

Congratulations! Enjoy your celebrations

FadedRed · 02/03/2023 17:46
