He’s up for parole next week.

I was previously of the opinion that he should be released, he’s been locked up for over 40 years, he’s never killed anyone and he’s nearly 70 … he’s also not “misbehaved” in years.

However, after watching the documentary that came out on Monday, I’m not sure anymore! He shows no remorse at all for what he’s done in the past and outright admits that if people wind him up, he’ll snap.

He recounts his past violence like he’s recalling good memories.

Plus, he’s been in isolation for years, so of course his “incidents” will be far and few between as he has nobody to kick off with.

Basically, I wouldn’t want to live next door to him! Imagine if you fall out over parking or he takes exception to your barking dog etc?

I also don’t believe that George character is really his son. I believe the pair of them decided to make up this story to help keep him in the public eye. George admits that they both make up stories for a laugh and he can get him in the tabloids at the drop of a hat.

YABU - he’s done his time, let him out
YANBU - I wouldn’t want him as my neighbour either, keep him in.

I am exactly the same as you - had thought he should be released until I watched the documentary! It’s done him no favours at all.

catinboooots · 01/03/2023 12:43

He won't get it

What on earth were they thinking? They couldn’t have made him look worse if they’d tried. He even refused to admit he was wrong to kidnap that teacher - the furthest he’d go was to say he felt a bit sorry for him!!

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 01/03/2023 12:48

I too was like you. He just doesn't get it and I think his expectations of life outside are skewed.

BourbonBon · 01/03/2023 12:48

catinboooots · 01/03/2023 12:43

He won't get it

I don’t think he will either, you can see he’s high risk of reoffending and if they let him out and he goes on to kill someone …

He prides himself on the fact that he’s never actually killed anyone but that has simply been luck on his side, he’s certainly tried to kill people in the past!

The bloke he strangled in broadmoor would have died if he hadn’t been wrestled off him. He was even boasting that he couldn’t be tried for that as he was certified insane at the time. He knows exactly what he’s doing.

Another thing is he will be a target if he is released, that George bloke says he wants to live on a caravan site by the sea … imagine how many people will arrive there hoping to catch a glimpse of him, or even try and wind him up to get a reaction?

I notice George has set up a go fund me to buy him a caravan … it’s currently sitting at £45k 🙄

I didn't think the documentary did him any favours either. Ive read that George person is apparently not his son but someone who tries to tag along with "celebrity" types.
It's all a bit weird. But no I wouldn't want him living next door to be honest.

It has done him favours because I doubt he wants to get out. He is institutionalised and will die in jail.

DogInATent · 01/03/2023 13:19

I only caught the second episode last night, but it was clear from that he's not fit to be out in society. I'm not convinced that George believes he's ready to come out either, you could see his reaction to the answers to the mock interview questions he was asking.

I can't decide if it's all still an act for amusement, or whether it's now a performance art piece for notoriety.

cunderthunt1 · 01/03/2023 13:22

How can I watch this documentary?

Honoraryuce · 01/03/2023 13:23

YANBU, I don't think he can function as part of society and honestly not sure he wants to.

bellac11 · 01/03/2023 13:25

I didnt watch the documentary but I did wonder why on earth it was allowed. His parole or otherwise is not decided by the court of public opinion. How would any of us feel if a TV channel decided to make a documentary about something about us while we're awaiting a decision from the authorities.

Or did he ask for the documentary?

I thought the same thing, he’s not stupid, he knows the “right things to say” and he chose to say the opposite. Either he doesn’t want to get out or that George character has set him up big time - perhaps not even telling him he was being recorded.

Would make sense considering he’s raised almost £50k to buy him a caravan … it’s in George’s best interests that he doesn’t get out

I’m not convinced he even realised he was being recorded. George has £50k raised supposedly for a caravan for Bronson … it’s his best interests that Bronson doesn’t get out and George can claim the money. As far as I know, just giving sites are not regulated, nothing to stop him cashing out

Thesharkradar · 01/03/2023 13:30

I don't think he's a good fit for the outside world he'll have no impulse control and will revel in being able to dominate and punish anyone who crosses him or objects to him in any way ....and he's going to be extremely objectionable☹️

Bronson - Fit To Be Free ? Chanel 4 on Monday and Tuesday this week so you will find it on C4 Catchup. We watched it this morning.

cunderthunt1 · 01/03/2023 13:34

@Carpediem15 Thank you!

bloodyplanes · 01/03/2023 13:35

Considering some of the absolute pondlife that do get paroled I think it's disgusting this man has been kept locked up for so long!

Good point

When does his actual sentence end then?

QueefofSheena · 01/03/2023 13:41

I didn’t know anything about George and only watched with one eye on the TV, but I did think that they didn’t seem related. No physical resemblance at all. The poor teacher that CB kidnapped convinced me he should never be let out.

GoodChat · 01/03/2023 13:44

What on earth were they thinking? They couldn’t have made him look worse if they’d tried.

They were thinking "how do we get loads of viewers and make loads of money?"

creamwitheverything · 01/03/2023 13:53

I would not be phased if he lived next door to us. He has served enough time. The celebrity of him should have been allowed to fade, thats been a major part of the issue.

2bazookas · 01/03/2023 13:56

His mental state is entirely managed by the system he lives in, he has no self-control whatever. He mentally inhabits a delusional fantasy version of himself as some kind of superman, admired celebrity, and superdad.

If he was ever released, the real world won't sustain that delusion for five minutes and as soon as its challenged he will spin out of control, as he always has. The underlying personality disorder, paranoid narcissism; is still there, barely below the surface. The first bottle of champagne would unleash total disinhibition.

The "disneydad" relationship with his recent "son" is an illusion that would not survive their first face to face spat in the home. I am pretty sure the "son" knows that . Whatever his real agenda is, he's absolutely counting on Bronson staying caged forever. No danger of a journalist collecting any DNA.

Interesting that Bronson's real son Mike has not taken part on the program.

bellac11 · 01/03/2023 14:01

His name isnt even Charles Bronson is it? Or is it?

Yes I thought it was telling that his real son had nothing to do with it.

That George bloke is no more related to Bronson than I am. It’s a business partnership. Interesting that George has set up a “crime museum” - he gets stuff on Bronson to make money, in return George keeps him in the public eye.

They apparently fell out a couple of years ago after Bronson said he was a liar and a “clown” and he wanted nothing further to do with him.
