He’s up for parole next week.

I was previously of the opinion that he should be released, he’s been locked up for over 40 years, he’s never killed anyone and he’s nearly 70 … he’s also not “misbehaved” in years.

However, after watching the documentary that came out on Monday, I’m not sure anymore! He shows no remorse at all for what he’s done in the past and outright admits that if people wind him up, he’ll snap.

He recounts his past violence like he’s recalling good memories.

Plus, he’s been in isolation for years, so of course his “incidents” will be far and few between as he has nobody to kick off with.

Basically, I wouldn’t want to live next door to him! Imagine if you fall out over parking or he takes exception to your barking dog etc?

I also don’t believe that George character is really his son. I believe the pair of them decided to make up this story to help keep him in the public eye. George admits that they both make up stories for a laugh and he can get him in the tabloids at the drop of a hat.

YABU - he’s done his time, let him out
YANBU - I wouldn’t want him as my neighbour either, keep him in.

A couple of questions for bloodyplanes -
Do you know what this man has done to his many victims over the years?
Do you understand fully that the way he has served his sentence is as a consequence of his actions?
He will be looking for an address to give to the parole board soon?

miawallacesfeet · 01/03/2023 14:14

I'm sure it said the son was secretly filming their video calls. Right at the beginning of the programme

Thinkbiglittleone · 01/03/2023 14:25

I didn't think he should be released before I watched the show and I definitely still think that.
I don't see how that show was made in Charles Salvador's interest.
The last few lines reiterate his reputation as the most dangerous prisoner or most violent prisoner, surely you end on a positive if you want people to think that.

Charles Salvador couldn't even show that he had true compassion for the poor man's life he has destroyed whilst he was just doing his job.
He seemed to still think all of his gastly acts were just a matter of fact of what he's done and he seemed quite proud and entertained by himself.

The "son" is responsible for facilitating Charles staying in the public eye. He loves the fame and notoriety, he is not going to want to be released and then fade into public life. He will want fo remain a celebrity which I think is a disgrace to his victims.

I don't think he will get parole. And I think his "son" will be just fine with that.

I missed that part.
It's very telling if that's the case.

If he does get out I’ll give it 6 months before he’s arrested again

I disagree....
I'd give it about 6 hours!

AlwaysAuntie · 01/03/2023 17:18

I think even if he showed remorse and has genuinely been rehabilitated he wouldn't be able to adjust to life outside. I know people who have spent a small time in prison and on release have struggled to get back into the rhythm of normal life.

quietnightmare · 01/03/2023 17:19

Where's the documentary on?

bloodyplanes · 01/03/2023 17:23

@PhillySub yes and yes!! As i stated they parole far worse individuals than him! I would be happy to live next door to him, in fact I would much prefer it to some of the scum that live round here!

Sunriseinwonderland · 01/03/2023 17:23

If he moved in next door to me I'm off. I would never feel safe.

bloodyplanes · 01/03/2023 17:24

The documentary was on channel 4, that should tell you how biased and skewed it would be!

Justmeandthedog1 · 01/03/2023 17:28

He seems to be totally detached from pain, crime and responsibility — a disaster waiting to happen if he’s released. He’s also been separated for years for good reason.

Really? You’d be happy to live next door to someone who held a knife to a teachers ribs as he held him hostage telling him he was going to die? Who stuck a sawn off shotgun in a woman’s face as he robbed the store she was working at? Who strangled a man fully intending to kill him? Who boasts about caving another man’s head in? Who killed dogs during bare knuckle fights as it got to the point where actual men wouldn’t fight him?

Well, make sure you don’t block his driveway and be careful with those flashing Christmas lights in December … they might send him over the edge! You wouldn’t want your DH finding a Christmas tree rammed up his arse ….

Watching episode 2.
Why do we need to know he's sending vibrators to women?!

purpleme12 · 03/03/2023 22:54

Did he get a wedding with loads of guests? I don't understand

purpleme12 · 03/03/2023 22:56

And I don't even understand how they got married.
They fell in love online or something?!

purpleme12 · 03/03/2023 22:57

Why did he cut his wife off? Because he didn't like a photo that made her look like she'd put on weight? He mentioned that she'd got a drug problem?

purpleme12 · 03/03/2023 22:57

Did she kill herself or something?

PonyPatter44 · 03/03/2023 23:01

He won't be released at this parole hearing. The best he can hope for is a recommendation that he goes to a normal wing, and in theory, he might go to open conditions at his NEXT hearing, if he can show that he is able to self-regulate.

Basically though, the man is a sad fraggle, and he's very unlikely to ever leave prison.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 03/03/2023 23:06

I think Bronson is an absolutely fascinating character, and I think you can find him curious and interesting while simultaneously acknowledging that he is unsavoury, and not some sort of hapless folk hero who has never really done anything seriously wrong.

I do think it highly unlikely that he would be able to integrate and function healthily if he were to be released, and I suspect he will not be granted parole. He is a useful example though of this odd system we still practice in the UK where crimes have specific sentences, but in reality they can be arbitrarily extended on the whims of a few individuals. I think things went awry with Bronson many, many years ago, and that had he first been incarcerated as a young man in 2023 rather than the 1970's his life might have turned out somewhat differently.

I have sympathy for the victims of his crimes, but it's also difficult not to feel a little bit of unease and sympathy at the way he has been institutionalised and rendered unfit for release by a system that is supposed to rehabilitate. Most of it his own doing of course, but he is a pertinent example of an utterly failed system.

purpleme12 · 03/03/2023 23:33

Never mind Bronson, I didn't take to the son

Do you think they faked the DNA results?
I guess the son comes across as shady enough to do it

DismantledKing · 03/03/2023 23:45

He’s a fucking nutcase.
I don’t think he’ll ever get out, and I’m pretty glad of that.
